The next day after deciding on his subjects, Grey had gone to the genesis rune class.
Rows of new students sat neatly in front a beautiful woman. All quitely gazing at her waiting to begin.
The atmosphere was completely peaceful and serene as most students were unwilling to cause trouble during their classes after finally getting a position in the prestigious royal academy although outside classes it was a different matter altogether as fighting was encouraged.
This was the same woman who took over the principals job the day before. She simply smiled waiting for everyone to arrive before finally beginning.
"Hello again everyone, I am currently the only 4th level Genesis rune master in the Lunarreach kingdom, Sofya Viltaria. I will be teaching you all for the genesis rune class, any questions?"
As she said this one of the students stood up. "Miss Sofya, why is their only one 4th level Genesis rune master?"
"This is because the most important thing for learning Genesis Runes is the level of ones soul. Each genesis rune is divided into a grade based upon multple factors such as usage, difficulty to draw and soul level requirements."
"This means a lower grade rune will not necessarily have a worse use than and higher grade but the soul level requirements are constant throughout each grade. Meaning if you don't have the required soul energy to draw a grade 4 genesis rune for example, no matter how much you understand how to draw the rune you won't be able to complete it."
"There are ways you can overcome this such as certain artifacts or weapons that allow one to draw a rune slightly above their level and also certain soul cultivation techniques which will allow you to increase the level of your soul faster than others who allow this to happen naturally. These methods are extremely rare however and naturally impossible to find in the Lunarreach kingdom. This results in people who have the required cultivation to reach that soul level to be rare in our kingdom and therefore not be willing to waste time learning Genesis runes and instead only focusing on their cultivation as they are already included in the strongest in the kingdom, anything else?" She seemed quite angry with this fact but still maintained a smile either way.
At this point another student stood before asking a question, "Teacher, what are the uses of genesis runes?"
"Genesis Runes have many profound uses such as: amplifying ones body or weapons; curing poisons or amplifying the effects of pills made by alchemists; creating traps or powerful one time use attacks and many more. You could say almost anything can be done with genesis runes as long as you have someone to teach you that rune and then meet the soul level requirements."
At this point all the students we staring intensely, listening to her infectuous words. Desire to learn originally burned in their eyes but her next words immediately doused their burning desire.
"Unfortunately unless you are extremely talented in the field of genesis runes then you will be unable to practice both them and cultivation to a similarly high level. A large number of people will find that their attainments in genesis runes cannot keep up with their cultivation before abandoning them altogether. Of course although rare, the opposite does happen where someone may be so talented in genesis runes that they will be stronger by only focusing upon them and thus giving up cultivating and only focusing on their soul cultivation."
"When this happens they will be referred to as genesis warriors. Most of these will join the 'Genesis Association' as they can acquire superior runes exclusive to their members. The Genesis Association happens to be one of the most powerful organisations of our continent." The students could hear the pride in her voice even though she wasn't a member of it.
"Genesis warriors are completely different to fight against than normal practitioners but you will have to experience that for yourselves in the future."
"Therefore we will have extremely strict tests every 3 months to determine who is talented enough to continue their learning of genesis runes."
Another student soon asked another question, "Teacher, is it possible to create a genesis rune?"
"A genesis rune emulates the patterns of the world to create their own specific effect. It is possible for someone to create their own genesis rune which will obviously have its own unique usage. There are many benefits to creating your own genesis rune as the rune created will be imprinted onto your soul. This results in the rune posessing the ability to grow improving its effects when the soul level increases. The creator will also be able to use and draw this rune with minimal effort."
"However, to create a genesis rune requires some kind of inspiration. This may include things like a significant event or an extreme emotion such as joy, sadness, love or pretty much anything."
"Although this does happen, most won't be able to do it throughout their entire life as it also requires you to be extremely lucky. Anyway it isn't something you should hope or aim for because it is not something we can control."
"To begin with I will give you all the method to draw a premise grade genesis rune as you do not yet have the required soul energy to draw a grade one rune. The normal level to posess the soul energy for a grade one genesis rune is at the 1st layer of the body refining realm but more or less talented students may be able to do this sooner or later so you can come to me to test your soul level once you believe you have reached that level."
She gave a concise demonstration of how to draw the premise grade genesis rune but naturally none of the students made much progress as this was their first time using their soul energy in such a way. At the end of the class she said the first to draw the complete rune will receive a pill to increase their cultivation as an incentive before allowing them to leave.
