Chereads / Demonic Prince Grey / Chapter 3 - Motivation

Chapter 3 - Motivation

As he woke up, Grey let out an incredibly shocked expression. Demonic energy filled the wooden shack and golden dragons swam through the air around him.

'Why has the legacy box randomly appeared' He thought to himself as he reached out with his hand in an attempt to recall it back into his body. Just as his hand was about to touch it however, it began to emit a blinding glow. Light flashed throughout the shack as he was forced to cover his eyes. while he could no longer see, an ethereal figure was released from the box. As Grey removed his hands from covering his face due to the flash of light, he stared at the figure in complete and utter disbelief.

That familiar warm smile and doting look shone in his eyes like a beacon to a ship that had been lost in the vast and empty ocean for months. Tears began to roll down his face.

"You should have arrived by now, Grey" The figure called out with a smile.

This figure is Ryu Thrarios, Grey's father.

"Father.." Grey called out ready to ask many questions but the Ryu promptly interrupted,

"I'm sure you have many things to ask Grey but this is simply a message prepared long before our seperation, I can't answer no matter how much you ask." before touching his chin with a slight laugh.

"Anyway you don't need to worry about me, if it was that easy to defeat me our Thrarios clan would have long been decimated by our enemies also it rather hurts my pride to have my own son worried about me" Grey nodded attentively at each word as though the ethereal figure could see his actions, tears still pouring out of his eyes.

Ryu paused for a second before continuing with a sigh "In the past when a clan member was sent to a lower realm, their chances of surviving and returning to the clan was extremely low. They would either be hunted down by the realms cultivators due to their demonic origin or they would attempt to make contact with the demonic path of the realm before having their bloodline absorbed due to its demonic purity."

Grey's countenance became visibly solemn as he heard this.

"Luckily i have prepared a technique to remedy this situation. The technique allows one to create a filter of sorts inside the dantian, transforming demonic energy into the energy of a regular practictioner. Unfortunately such a technique has several major drawbacks."

"First, the filter will only be able to withstand around 20% of your demonic energy at a time meaning you will only be able to use 20% of your strength at a time. Fortunately our clan is naturally far stronger than others at the same realm so you at least won't be at a disadvantage."

"Second, If you use more than 20% of your energy and break the filter it will take at least a month worth of time to recreate it, although the first time you learn the technique will be at the start of your cultivation so it will be instant."

"Finally, if someone has a high enough cultivation base or an extremely profound visual technique they will be able to see through the technique. To find someone with such a cultivation base is impossible in a lower realm and even our clans' storage may only contain a few of such visual arts although they do indeed exist it would be nigh impossible to find such a technique in such a backwater realm."

"In about a months' time, if the journey took the expected four years, you will reach the age of 12 - the age when the dantian is formed and you can finally begin your cultivation. At that point using a drop of blood you will be able to unlock the first layer of the legacy box. There you will receive this technique along with the Thrarios clans' cultivation manual."

"Using this technique will make fighting for materials in this lower realm much harder without using our natural advantages. You will essentially be a normal person who has to depend on his talent, hard work and determination although you will naturally unlock the Thrarios clans' bloodline abilities throughout your journey."

"I also inspected quite a few lower realms before finally choosing this one to send you to however i don't know where in the realm you will arrive. There is quite a few interesting things here which will be of great help to your future cultivation once obtained, sadly it will be extremely dangerous to obtain them and the competition for them will also be intense. Good luck grey."

Ryu's face returned to his often seen cold expression, "If you wish to see me again in the future, if you wish to help me revive the clan in the future, then you need to become truly strong, Grey." His ethereal form exploded into countless sparks of light before fading back into darkness as his voice echoed throughout the wooden shack.

Although Grey's eyes still maintained the same loneliness and sorrow, they now also contained a new found ambition. He privately vowed that he would return to his father in the future and to bring his clan to even greater heights than before.

Even though Grey's goal had childish motivations like simply returning to his fathers side, at least he now had purpose to his life.

-1 day Later-

As Grey Sat inside the small wooden shack, new planks of wood were now added, in an attempt to fix its poor state, which prevented the light that previously shone through the cracks in the wall. The bitter air no longer drafted across the hard floor. His hair is no longer dishevelled as it flowed past his shoulders in a natural manner. His skin is no longer caked in layers of dirt as he had washed in the nearby river. His prior rags of clothing were replaced by a basic and cheap set gifted by a generous shopkeeper who said he could pay at a later date.

Whilst no emotions could be seen on his face, which was definitely abnormal for a child of a mere 12 years of age, simply by his style and demeanor in contrast to the prior day one could see his newly found motivation.
