Chereads / A Dragons Soul / Chapter 3 - Family

Chapter 3 - Family

It didn't take long for Dom to dragofy his arms and hands, but to his surprise when he changed his hands, he didn't grow claws like he expected. He was a bit disappointed, but he just shrugged and assumed he needed another step first. Before he continued he looked at his ring's holographic clock.

"OH SH-T! I have school today!"

Without realizing it time flew by and it was already 6 am. Dom immediately went into his bathroom and had a shower, he thought he probably didn't smell the best since he sweated a lot. Then he stumbled out, threw on a spare school uniform, and set off for school.

When he arrived, he noticed that he was being given a lot of weird looks. This was normal, but instead of the disgust and jeers he was used to they all looked at him... shocked. He didn't understand why.

'Are my scales out? Oh no do I look like a monster?'

Before his first class could begin he wandered into the public restroom to see why he was getting such looks, and when he entered he noticed something in the mirror almost immediately. He had lost a lot of weight, almost as if the fire burned away his fat. He was still a bit chubby, but he didn't look overweight anymore! It wasn't just his weight though... His purple eyes looked extremely eye catching in contrast to his black hair. He looked really good. His uniform was extremely loose on him, and he only now realized it.

'Well... How do I explain this? Surgery? And...and what about my eyes? WAIT! How do I explain my fire!?'

Only now did Dom realize his issues. He became worried people might think he was an enemy race or possessed by an evil spirit. So, rather then continuing to class, he decided to call his aunt. His HoloRing (the ring device with hologram clock) opened up and a list of contacts was displayed. Well, calling it a list might be exaggerated as there was only a handful of contacts. He pointed to a name at the top of the list and the HoloRing initiated the call. It didn't take long for his aunt to pick up.

"Hey Domikins how are you?"

This was his aunt's preferred way of addressing him. It embarrassed him at first, but he grew to like it.

"Hey Auntie, I need some help"

Upon hearing 'help' his aunt immediately intercepted him before he could continue.

"What do you need? Money? Women? Someone removed from the equation?"

"What?" Dom replied confused.

"NO! Nothing like ANY of that, listen... I think it would be better if we talk in person, plus you'll be able to see my dilemma."

"Alright... alright I'll have Sebastian bring the car to you, just get here safely, OK sweetie?"

Dom was happy that his aunt was always so nice, he didn't have many people like that in his life. He quickly told her his location, and sneaked out of the school. When he got out, the elderly man named Sebastian was already there. If it was anyone else Dom would have been surprised, but the man in front of him was his aunt's best and most loyal driver. Sebastian was smiling at him, but as soon as he saw Dom up close his eyes grew wide.

"M-Master Dominic...? What on earth happened to you?"

Sebastian knew Dom since he was a child, and he was very kind to him, so when he saw his drastic change in appearance he couldn't help but be worried.

"That's what I need to talk to Aunt Tu about, we should go quickly before anyone else notices me!"

Sebastian quickly nodded his head and allowed Dom into the Magicar. The Magicar was a car powered by mana and didn't have wheels, so essentially a magic hover car. This particular one was a sleek black and looked like a Rolls Royce. Once inside, Sebastian quickly accelerated, with Dom in the back seat.

'Hmm... while we're on our way, maybe I should try practicing my 'Dragon Sight'.'

When Dom channeled Mana into his eyes, he saw how the magic was moving through the car but a question appeared in his mind,

'Can I do more with my eyes?'

So he concentrated on seeing a bird that was around 300 meters away. At first his eyesight was normal then it blurred, but the next thing he saw was the bird as clear as day, as if it was right in front of him. It startled him at first but then he quickly realized that his eyes must have 'zoomed in' on the bird. He saw every detail and pattern on the bird, from the hues of greens, browns, and blues in its feathers, to the smallest wrinkles around its coal black eyes. He was busy admiring it when he heard a gasp followed by several quick coughs. He turned his head ever so slightly to see Sebastian looking at him through the rear view mirror with a mix of shock, concern, and...was that a touch of fear? Normally Dom would have missed that detail but with this eyesight he could see even the smallest of muscle twitches in Sebastian's face.

"My boy... what... what happened to your eyes?"

"What do you mean?"

"They're glowing so bright...and...and your pupils are as sharp as daggers!"

Dom quickly look into the rear view mirror to see for himself, and his eyes immediately stood out. Sebastian was right, his pupils were thin like a cat's, only much... much thinner. He focused again and within moments his eyesight returned to normal.

"Well that's... new"

Upon hearing that, Sebastian proceeded to speed up the car. Shortly after the car arrived at a large building that had a huge name in hot pink on the front of it. 'Amare'...they were there.

Sebastian pulled into a private lot and guided Dom to his aunt. He was incredibly worried for the boy but also curious as to why Dom had changed. When they arrived at the entrance of his aunt's office, he heard a woman and a man speaking in a professional tone. Sebastian reached his hand out to knock when Dom stopped him and shook his head.

"Just wait, let her finish her call. It sounds pretty important."

Sebastian nodded, and after 15 minutes they heard his aunt hanging up, so Sebastian knocked on the door.

"Come in!"

She was looking at papers as they entered the room but looked up as soon as they reached her desk. When her eyes met Doms a range of emotions could be seen. Confusion, realization, and then immense worry.

"Domikins!? What the F-CK HAPPENED TO YOU!?"

She ran out from behind her desk and began checking him, patting down his body, inspecting his eyes, she even rolled up his uniforms sleeves to see if there was needle marks. When she finished her examination she looked at him expectantly, silently demanding that he explain the situation. Sighing, he began telling what happened, omitting the details of his dream as well as the entirety of the 'Dragofication' process.

"Well Aunt Tu, remember how I gathered mana into my blood? And... You let me do it because you thought there was no harm in it? Well, both of us were right! There was no harm, and I gained magic while doing it!"

Upon hearing that her eyes opened wide and she immediately began pondering how it could have happened. Dom could tell that she didn't really believe him, and that bugged him ever so slightly.

"If I'm not wrong, you can use 'Magic Detection Eyes' right auntie? If so, why don't you use them on me?"

"Oh yeah!" she turned and activated her eyes without hesitation. When she used her MDE (Magic Detection Eyes) she was shocked to see Doms blood bursting with mana, and even some mana in his arms. His skin shimmered, and faint outlines of what appeared to be scaly armor can just barely be seen.

"H-How is that possible...? What spells can you use?"

When Dom heard this he shrugged his shoulders and held out his palm.

"That's the thing... I don't NEED spells..."

And he immediately ignited a purple, baseball sized fireball in his palm.
