"That smell. Blood? But there's other stuff mixed in too..."
A bulky man with a towering height of two meters rushed towards the smell deep into the forest. He soon reached a cliff and looked down to see a group of beasts hunting down a group of knights. He immediately armed himself with a giant hammer that appeared out of thin air and jumped down. He rushed towards the scene but was unfortunately late. The last knight fell and the group of beasts started fighting for food. He crumpled his face and ran towards the group of beasts as if to avenge the fallen knights. He swung his hammer here and there. Killing anything that walked his path. When his hammer met its enemies, it blew them away towards other groups of beasts injuring them in the process. Soon, the fighting ended as the beast 'regained' their composure and ran away driven by fear.
"What bloody hell is this..." He swung his head left and right as his eyes wandered to look at his surrounding. He was examining the scene. The first thing he noticed was the Knight's attire. It was a familiar sight in an unfamiliar place.
"The Empire's Knight. Why are they here though..." It was puzzling as he was now close to the border of Khiston Kingdom, three kingdoms away from the empire.
"I see. Someone used 'Bait'." A bit further behind he noticed a small round object made of glass. The other odor he smell came from it. That explained the beast. Seeing that he examined most of everything here, he stretched out his hand a ball of fire soon gathered in his hand.
"May the gods guide your souls to your destinations." He was about to burn all the corpses down until he noticed something, a life- hidden under a corpse. He hurriedly walked towards the corpse and pushed it away revealing a small life underneath asleep. He hurriedly stretched out his hand and a pale white glow lit up.
"I see." He muttered. He was examining the child with magic. "So that's why..." He soon found out why the little life was still asleep. It was under a spell, preventing it from waking up. The child was a bit injured with a noticeable bump on its head. He assumed it was bumped with the knight's armor when he had fallen. "May Goddess Rebecca heal and mend what's wronged..." Soon, the small bump shrunk and then he began to unravel the sleeping spell. After the spell was broken, a small and miserable cry rang out. "Hush, little sprout. It's alright. It's alright." He gently shook his arms back and forth to calm down the baby that has woken up from its slumber. It cried for a bit while and then stopped as if to respond to his efforts. It finally opened its eyes. It's was raven black, not dull but filled with life. It was beautiful. He was mesmerized by the little life in his arms and soon made a decision. He started walking out of the forest with a baby wrapped in his arms.
