"Are you comfortably sitting?" Eryk asked.
" I'm fine, father," Teodor replied as he was sat crossed on the patch of grass out front by their porch. They went out today for the magic lessons Eryk promised to give.
"Well then, let's start. Hmmm... First things first, a review. Do you remember the basic theory for magic?"
"Yes. Magicians gather manas in their bodies. Then, they create a spell model in their minds then gather that manas require for the spell outside their bodies usually with a catalyst like a staff or a wand. Give form to manas with the spell model then release."
"You're right. That's the basics of spellcasting. Now, I'm going to teach how to sense and gather manas. Close your eyes and relax your breathing. Slowly alternate breathing in and out and focus."
Teodor did as his father did. He closed his eyes and relaxed his breathing despite eagerly waiting for his next instructions.
"Good. You know that manas exist but not in our physical realm. It's in another place, a space between dimensions we call the Aether realm. While in the Aether realm, manas are formed as little balls of light with different colors. We call these balls of light, Lumine. For now, let's begin with feeling them. All life on Trisivis has a hidden power in them. We call it 'mental strength'. Like, manas, they are invisible and intangible but we can control them. Now, focus. Use your mind to feel the lumine in the surrounding."
Teodor focused. He let go of other thoughts and embraced the darkness that enveloped his sight. One hour, two hours, and many hours later, the sun will soon set. Eryk was going to advise Teodor to finish up for today but before he did, he heard Teodor speak in excitement.
"I can see. Father, I can see them. Small balls of light. Although, not much and a bit farther away, I can see them."
"That's good. You really are talented. It's getting late. Let's head in for now and continue lessons for tomorrow." Eryk praised. He knew Teodor was smart but didn't know he was talented as well. But; Eryk had a bad forewarning. Teodor managed to see the lights within a day and that required persistence and focus which a few in his age can do but, 'the lights he saw are only of few. As I thought... Is he being rejected? Or, are they afraid of something?' Eryk quietly muttered in his heart.
