Now I'm in trouble!
Am I worried about Trey?
No.
Now I know I was right I had to share my information with Jax. I noticed him go stiff as I told him about how I'm a new piece in this game. One that isn't going to be played. That night we went down to the basement where I practice my self-defense moves. These were things that Nolan taught me as a kid and Jax kept up with the teaching. I was able to take a guy twice my size and if needed to end it. Normally I should be fearful of ending someone's life. But I'm not a normal girl. I end what needs to be ended to keep the world running. That's why I was brought to this sleepy town.
Before too long, I had showered and hit the sheets. The sun would be up in a few hours. I fell asleep and I awoke in my dream. This time the blood was gone and father's body was hanging over the side of the chair.
He sat up and said, "This is your fault!" I jolted out of bed and gasped for air.
I fell to the floor. Jax rushed into my room. His face was in panic. I glanced up at him and let a single tear fall. Jax fell to his knees and scoops me up.
Still breathless "He said." I gasped but at that moment he knew what to do.
Jax held me close, I could feel his heartbeat and his chest rise and fall after each breath. He was trying to help stabilize me, let my breathing match his. After a minute or two it did just that. I think this is the longest he's ever touched me. Maybe as a child, this was nothing new but once my "power" started to come into full bloom, he tries his best not to look at me or touch me.
I looked at him, I took one deep breath "Thank you, Jackson!"
I studied his face as he seemed to study me, I watch his forehead squish up, his lips tighten.
"Can you stop looking at me like I'm some kind of science project," I yelled.
This shocked him. "I was just admiring your beauty Indie," he smiled.
I moved closer to him wrapping my arms around his neck. I could tell this was making his heart race.
"Now Indie are you going to tell me what happened? Why are you on the floor?" he still had that studying look on his face.
I rolled my eyes "if you must know. I had another dream." I said with a frown on my lips.
"Indie, maybe we need to get another assignment," he said as he went to touch the bare skin on my lower back.
"Jackson are you crazy! We are so close and no one else can do what we do." I objected!
At this point, I felt his heart race and I knew he wouldn't look at me but I had to try it. I pulled out of his arms and looked him in the face.
"Indie! I'm not going to look at you if that's what you are trying to get at." he said.
I stood up and sighed. "Jackson what are you afraid of. You know I wouldn't hurt you!" I said in protest.
Still on the floor "Indiana try to get some sleep. I'm staying here on the floor," I rolled my eyes while he says this.
I walked in my closet and grabbed a pillow and blanket. I handed the pillow and blanket. Jax was one of those man's man, he never felt like he needed those little comforts. This always flustered me. But this is my room!
