"What do you mean gone?" Mrs. Lana ran towards the maid's chamber while Carl and the servant followed her.
"When I got to the quarters, a maid told me to tell you immediately that Mary's gone." The servant explained.
"Impossible." Mrs. Lana uttered. "How could she move with those wounds?
"Did you check her room?" Carl followed up.
"No, I didn't have the time because she kept urging me to go and find you."
When they arrived at Mary's room, they saw that the bed was empty. And no trace of the maid that told the servant about Mary was found.
Mrs. Lana turned to the servant and asked, "Who's the maid you interacted with?"
"I-it's...I'm sorry. I don't know the name because she's new." The servant explained.
"New? We didn't employ new maids."
"B-but she said she was."
Mrs. Lana touched her forehead as she gestured for him to stop. Carl just sighed and said, "You may go."
