"Okay. So I can make skills as long as I do something that can be recognized as one."

An excited youth could be seen grinning to himself as people dressed in medieval ranger clothing went by him, dragging straw mannequins and bows with them.

"Hoo, shouldn't get too excited, alright, on to bow training."

And so he began training his troops on how to use a bow, hit moving targets, gauge an enemy's movement pattern, and how to use the wind for an advantage.

1 Hour later

"Okay everyone, it's time to see what you have learned. We are going hunting, and try to be stealthy and follow my orders. Let's go."

Behind him his soldiers shouted "Sir yes sir!"

"I just told you to keep your voice down, pay attention to what I am telling you!" An irritated Verum, shouted back.

As they left the visible starter shield 20 meters from the castle, Verum got an alert.

[Warning! You are leaving the Barrier!]

[You will not be while protected outside the barrier]

When they finally entered the forest, Verum gave them tips to minimize their sounds and presence.

They found their first prey, a group of 4 wolves, just 200 meters in, and 40 meters away inside a clearing.

Verum motioned them all to be silent as he whispered, "I will shoot one, the rest of you spread out, Quietly, and shoot the others. As soon as they are down, 3 of you run in and slit their throats using your knives, I will take care of the fourth."

"Go."

As He took a crouching stance and aimed his bow, the others followed his orders, and got ready, nine with bows, 3 with knives, and 3 with their swords in case something went wrong.

[Forest wolf] [Lv:1]

[Rank: Cannon fodder]

[Rarity: Common]

[HP: 80/80]

[Bite]

[One of the most basic enemies]

'This should be easy'

'Alright, right before the first one alerts the others.'

And he pulled back the string.

Suddenly, the one closest to him felt something, and opened it's mouth for a warning howl.

'Now'

His fingers released the string, and arrow struck the wolf in the eye, piercing it's brain, and killing it.

Immediately, the other wolves turned around, and 3 arrows struck each of them, either in their head, legs, or neck, killing 2, and immobilizing the last, who saw a human running up to it, cutting it's throat, and ending it's life.

[You have killed a forest wolf]

[Exp+7]

[Your subordinates have killed 3 forest wolves]

[Exp+3]

[+5 copper coins]

'Money? Guess it must be a rarer drop.

"Good job everyone, good job. Now let's get these wolves back."

Verum felt that these wolves should be enough for at least 2 meals for 31 people.

'And if my 5x multiplier applies here, then enough for 3 days.'

However, as they headed back they were ambushed by a black bear.

"All of you fall back!" Shouted Verum. "You cannot take on this thing, so leave it to me."

[Black bear] [Lv: 6]

[Rank: Normal]

[Rarity: Common]

[HP: 370/370]

[Swipe]

[Pounce]

[Chomp]

[A natural tank, it has a certain resistance to normal arrows]

'Arrows, huh?'

"Good thing I'm using a sword then!"

The bear roared and tried to swipe at the human that was trying to attack it.

"Heh, easy." Verum, who jumped on top of the bear, replied, "Heavy Blow!" as he drove the sword into it's neck.

'So much resistance!'

[Critical hit!-173]

[Bleed effect applied]

The bear infuriated stood up, causing Verum to jump off, leaving his sword imbedded in the bear's flesh.

'That didn't kill it?'

'No matter.'

The bear started swinging madly at him, but he kept dodging easily.

The bear's clumsy movements were easy to read, and each swing was seen through.

"Time to end this, 'Rock throw'!"

A magic circle manifested, and shot out a rock the size of a bowling ball which hit the bear in the face.

[-117]

'Damn, I forgot my spells are still level 1.'

'Ice Spikes'

Another circle manifested and shot out 3 ice spikes in quick succession, shattering on impact with the bear.

Suddenly, the bear fell down and stopped moving.

Verum stood there confused, until realization struck him.

'Oh, the bleed effect.'

[Black bear killed]

[Exp+32]

[Copper coins+5]

'So much? I guess it's because of the level difference.'

"Alright, it's dead, grab it and lets go back."

And so they started heading back to the castle.

Once they returned Verum asked, "Do any of you know how to skin animals?"

To his surprise, everyone of his warriors raised their hands.

"Alright, after skinning them, keep the fangs, claws, and hide in the warehouse. I'm gonna go look for some utensils."

As Verum started walking away, he called up the system to take a look at the new functions.

There were more, but he could not see what was written on them, and they were gray as well.

He looked at the descriptions of the upgrades and decided that they were not useful right now, so he opened the miscellaneous tab.

[Beginners Guidebook to forests]

[Small-scale map]

[Tent set]

[Condiments]

[Farming tools]

Same as the upgrades section, many items were unavailable. However, unlike the previous time, he took some time to ponder over the few, but quite useful items that he could purchase.

It took him a little while but he finally made his decision on which items to pick.
