The next day Colton and I slept together in the wreckage of the ruin we made from fighting the angel. He laid lazily across my stomach with his legs outstretched, my arms resting on my chest.
I started a fistfight with him prior to this, he only appears when bad things happen to me anymore. We ended up in fisticuffs and I lost…
"Christian?" Alice asks.
"Hmmm…" I replied.
"What happened to the room?" She comments.
"I got into a fight with the idiot."
"Don't call me an idiot, idiot!" Colton says.
"You two are going to clean this mess!" Mai shouts.
Standing behind Alice we both scatter to our feet, her powerful lungs explode at us in full force making it hard to lollygag anymore. We take to straightening the equipment, moving wires, and placing items back in place with lightning-fast speed.
Colton never usually gets scared so it's weird that he would be so frightened of Mai or maybe there is something I don't know about her. She is always calm and reserved.
"I am sorry Mai! We won't do that again!" I comment.
"Says, who?" Colton smiles.
"You are trying to start a fight again aren't you?" I growl.
"You two stop bickering, since you are okay enough to trash a room then you are fine enough to come with me and Alex today Christian," Alice says.
"Mission?" I ask.
"Not really anything too big, we are supposed to deter witches from chants and magick. The red sky is intensifying lately." Alice explains.
"How will we get to town?" I question her.
"Steel, she came over to help us." Alice cheers.
"Steel?" I ponder.
Alice takes my hand, she navigates us to the living room to find a well-dressed lady in rose pink. A cheerful smile on her face made me feel secure.
"Hello Christian, I was told about the new housing 'Devils Assistant'. I hope you will protect the household as past members did." She states.
My heart sank because that is not why I am here. I told myself deep inside.
"You can count on me Steel!" I shout confidently.
"We are waiting for Alex to wake." Steel comments tapping her watch.
Colton peeks around the corner before boldly making his presence known to Steel. Taking her hand he kneels down gazing into her eyes.
Steel takes her arm back swinging it into his face, slapping him hard enough that I could feel it. I was in complete shock holding the cheek she whacked.
"Do that again and I will kill you," Steel muttered.
"I see…you aren't one of those girls," Colton replies.
"You are a mere shadow, I will not take this from you." Steel yells.
"So you can read me then," Colton adds.
Alex comes out of his room yawning, staring back at the small party gathered. He takes one look at Steel going back into his room silently.
"Alex, wait!" Steel shouts.
She lets out a sigh, Everett walks by them curiously down the hall.
"What's wrong, Steel?" Everett inquires.
"Nothing…" She says pouting.
"Okay, be careful today." He warns.
Alex comes back dressed in his black turtleneck and jeans, his brown hair messy as always. His eyes popped out from under his mop.
"Sorry Steel, I forgot you were coming." Alex laughs.
We all heard the door squeak open from a distance, a man waves at us. Steel blushes at the sight of the one joining us. He was a very good-looking and tall fellow.
His hair shone like copper against the faint light, his eyes were sharp olive green that bled into a black that could pierce you just by a stare alone. I could feel my heartbeat through my chest watching him lick his thick long fangs, his hair falling over his face.
White gloved hand pushing his mane out of his eyes, he could be a playboy or someone could easily kill me I wasn't sure. He was fully dolled up in a white suit except for his black leather shoes.
"Steel, are you ready yet?" The mysterious man asks.
"Oh, I would like you to meet Clarence! He is my bodyguard." Steel states.
"Hello! Glad to meet everyone." Clarence greets us.
Alice was holding her face, blood ran down dripping to the hardwood bleeding into the floorboard. Her face was shockingly red.
Clarence hands her his handkerchief, he looks like he knew right away what happened.
"I-I am so sorry!" She yells.
Alex turns away embarrassed by Alice acting out, Clarence only laughs at the small scene she made. He knows his appearance and how others react to it.
"It's okay really." Clarence answers.
"We should go now!" Steel says.
"The car is ready, my lady and her friends!" He chuckles, sticking his tongue out.
"No! Leave it cause the ride home I will be falling asleep Clarence! We will transport!" Steel says.
"Oh no…" He sighs.
She begins chanting softly, both arms out to her side, her nose to the air motioning for the others to latch on to her. Soon enough it becomes a chain of people holding tightly and nervously wondering how she will be able to produce enough energy to transport.
We start to feel tingling reaching up to our fingertips and foreheads, I begin to panic a little wanting to break formation. I think Alice sensed distress in me squeezing my hand tightly. Deciding to stay, we all close our eyes.
Before we know it we are downtown in the middle of the street, onlookers gawking at us.
"Steel! This is why I didn't wanna do it!" Clarence yells.
Steel collapsed into Clarence's arms, one eye opens you could see the fire blazing in her soul. The spell took a massive toll on her, she crumpled to the ground catching her breath.
"She has always been stubborn and an idiot!" Alex comments.
"Takes one to know one!" Steel said huffing.
"We should have used the car, you are gonna hold us back!" Alex argues.
Clarence picks her up swiftly, he runs from the street to the sidewalk. We all followed after him and his damsel in distress all while people whispered amongst themselves.
"Run now!" Clarence scolds us.
Doing as we are told we trail after Clarence, I notice Alex is behind us. I look back to find a woman in black carrying a morning star flailing it around.
The chain is long, she isn't afraid to put bystanders in danger by thrashing it about, smashing it into the side of buildings. Alex being the animal he is dodges it as it curves around losing traction ready to lash out again.
She has short black hair, she wears a normal black suit though her skirt is pleated one shorter than office types. Her hair is completely covering her eyes.
"I was warned you would show up in our sector!" She howls.
"You want a challenge, you came to the right vampire!" Alex spouts.
