Chereads / The Absurd Journey Of The Apocalyptic Sage / Chapter 33 - A Letter To My Wonderful Daughter

Chapter 33 - A Letter To My Wonderful Daughter

In the Holy Kingdom, Holy City, far below the Grand Cathedral is a small prayer room filled with solemn and divine atmosphere. There is no door into this room, and it has nothing else but a cushion in the center and a simple altar that dedicates offerings to the Gods. A girl is kneeling on the cushion, taking a posture for praying.

However, the entire room is surreal. The flames on the candles does not flicker, the air does not circulate, a trace of dust illuminated by the candlelight floats as if time has stopped. It is like a painting, unmoving and unchanging.

Suddenly, a letter appears before the altar. The girl slowly opens her eyes as the eternity shifts.

She picks up the letter and opens it.

'Hello to the world's most wonderful child.

Had a nice beauty sleep?

Yours truly, has chronic insomnia! Wahahaha!

I actually wanted to find you myself, but Lir said that I look absolutely murderous and savage, so I concluded I am not fit for visitation.

It has been 700 years you know? The world changed a lot from what it was and the mages I've met are so utterly incomprehensible. Magic has definitely improved, but the mages actually became weaker. Did we dote on them too much that they now lack experience now? They didn't even enchant their robes!

I also met up with Lyliasviel in Twilight and kicked some demons. I made jokes about doppelganger recently, but I did not think one would actually appear! It was weak though, I doubt the really strong demons would move so easily with Anima flying over their heads. She was really fired up, as the only Sage that can move around, she is keen to redeem her race that stayed true to this world. She even dyed her scales silver to show her opposition to those traitors!

Thanks to her watching over those aggressive hatchlings, dragons actually became some sort of guardian of this continent. Unbelievable right?'

The girl turns the pages as she reads about her important friends.

'Almost three months ago, the wanderers suddenly barged into this world and all we got with it was an oracle as the world finally showed signs of recovery. They caused so much trouble around the world at the start, though I wasn't there to see it as our city was actually quite peaceful. Thousands of then came as goblins, but in just two weeks they were cut down to only four.

FOUR, can you believe it!? What's with this mortality rate?

Anyway, I took those four in as my students.'

The girl takes a breath in pity, but is surprised afterwards.

'They are insane! I thought one or two, if not all would have left, but they stayed for two months before I had to kick them out. I swear they were enjoying it even.

I taught them various skills, ways to fight and how to be a hunter. Then I taught them how to use magic and runes for inscriptions. When they master that, they can enchant their equipment and even draw magic runes mid-fight, effectively casting spells!

Rina, Goruk, Rou and Alni, that's their name. They resemble us four very much.

Rina has crazy talented intuition and might be as clairvoyant as Lir in normal situations. They both hit off really well and Lir even helped her practice taming, though I'm not sure if that was actually intimidation and domination.

Goruk is an untalented guy like Gea, in body and skill, yet they have the same crazy mindset and trains like possessed. Normal people can be really scary huh. He quickly caught Gea's eyes and worked briefly as an administrator for the city, taking over Lir's job. He wanted to lead a mercenary corps, I wonder if he has stated it yet? But I'm sure he will do well.

Rou became a Sword Master right after meeting Ronia, they actually became peers instead of master and student like I thought. Ronia taught him aura manipulation needed to become a Sword Saint, while Rou taught her the basic sword art from his world. Since they have no mana or aura over there, they collated and refined their sword art to the point where anyone can become borderline sword masters if they work hard! Absolutely crazy! Thanks to that, Ronia became stronger again.

Lastly, it's Alni. She introduced herself a priest, but I honestly forgot about that very quickly. Is she a pervert? I don't want to brag, but if I think that, she must be quite abnormal. She seemed to be the one who enjoyed the trainings the most, but what's more crazy is that she casted a spell on her own, on the first day I shown her one. Then I taught her all I can until she left, forgetting that she was a priest, and got ripped off a number of my tomes to compensate her. She is smart so I'm sure she has already stepped into her priesthood.'

The girl chuckles warmly. She is thankful that he found some respite.

'Then there is Lily, a Mother Slime! I raised this child for 600 years. She stayed with me when everyone was asleep, those heartless scrooge. I actually taught her envisioning a slime wizard, but maybe I practiced too much curses at that time that she became a Pandemonium Slime…

She was such a trouble maker at that time, eating all sorts of things in my lab, but now she is a fully capable assistance and even maintains the magic circle in my stead! Life would have been too much without her.

I travelled into the continent after managing to possess her, and Lir stalked us with her power. She was really annoying at times, Gea should really drag her away to do some work. Though I know they let her keep me company so I won't be lonely, it was getting really unbearable…'

The girl reads in pain as the tone changed unnaturally.

'The craziest thing that happened though, came from a wanderer! Did you know what I saw? I checked again and again even though I'm omniscient, she is a candidate for godhood!

I don't think she knows about it, maybe the Gods or the World hid it from her, but new Gods will be rising soon. There were only ever three Gods, and they can't enter our plane directly, maybe that's why they want more Gods to roam the world and protect it. I can't tell if that's a good decision, but the one Godling I know is descent enough to be trusted so I think the Gods put some thought into it.

…It's really too convenient, the existence of wanderers. They disturbed the space and brought ways for me and Lylia to move freely. Immortal and attracted to combat, loves adventuring and hunting down evil just for the sake of becoming stronger. Perhaps the Gods is making their own plans for this world.

One day there will be Gods living among the people, immortal wanderers exploring our world, new spirits kindling all over nature, and the Fels can consolidate their power and live happily ever after.'

The girl smiles softly at the future drawn. She turns to the last page and sighs in regret.

'You said you wanted me to be the one to wake you up. But yeah, that's not happening.

You were already awake were you not? There's no way the sub-space would still be in chaos if you did not keep it that way. I realised that you have made your own plans over the years as well.

Was it also your scheme to gather the demons together? I did not realise until I checked on the Celestial Court, but the Divine Kingdom in the south is actually full of demons.

Did you only wake up recently? Or were you actually awake the entire time?

You are too kind so I can totally see that happening, watching over the world while stuck down there.

Too bad for you, it's not my fault you woke up too early.

But hey, if we have some time afterwards, we can all get together and play trump cards! The wanderers brought really good culture and entertainment into our world! Look forward to it.'
