A magic tower.
While it is called a tower, that is simply the preferred form of most mages as the floor is shaped like a magic circle. In truth, it can be of any shape and size as long as the mage completely turns the place into his magic domain by implementing and connecting to magic formations, turning it into a fortress. The result is that the fortress acts as a huge store of mana and with numerous pre-drawn spells, allowing the mage to cast spells with just a passing thought.
The Goblin City is a good example. It has a huge mana generator below the castle and the entire underground is a magic circle. If it is not all used to maintain a single spell it would be a weapon of mass destruction. I can even turn it into a mobile city!
But I only spent 100 hundred years on that before leaving it and upgrading it from time to time. This is one that I spent 2000 years building since I was young, the Celestial Court!
The tower in Twilight City is just a dud, the entrance. The size of the domain is on the level of a small kingdom. It is a realm that exists in the sky, separate but infinitely close to the main plane of existence!
"T-This, this is a realm that exists in sub-space."
What everyone sees is an astral space built of stardust. The form changes of this space can change depending on my needs and items will materialise at my will. They are still made of stardust though so their physical properties are all the same. I can make cities, grasslands, mountains, anything I can think of.
Beyond the huge platform it is now is barrier that looks like a bubble, on the other side is the scenery from kilometres above the Holy Kingdom. From here it looks like a toy city and we can see the demon army, forest at the World's Edge, and all the way up to the ocean surrounding the continent.
The horizon… is flat. Yup, the world is flat.
Moving on, above the space there is a dark expanse, an ocean of stars. The sky seems to open its way to the sea of stars, shining brightly even beside the sun. Stars piercing through the distance of time, linked into mystical constellations and spinning into galaxies. There is even a giant eyeball mimicking the cosmic horror waving its tentacles close by!

Race: Void Creature
Species: Sun Eater of the Void

"What is that!!?"
"That is… Tiggly!"
"You just made that up."
"This is the one who started a chain of events that almost destroyed the world."
Tiggly (Temp) looks like a giant eyeball wrapped in a black substance that turns into tentacles. It's not showing it now, but they can also turn into maws that can eat anything and disintegrates it. Behind it is a piece of the sky covered in rusty red hues, creating a scene of an apocalypse as if it's moving towards the world.
"Then why is it here, shouldn't you kill it?"
"Good question! But the problem is that it can't be killed, a trait shared by most void creatures by surviving in the void."
The best way to get rid of a void creature is to banish it back into the void, but the demons invaded before we can do that.
One unkillable void creature and an army of demons, they are not something our world cannot deal with by taking some loses. Yet, at a critical time the Dragon Race rebelled and turned against us!
In the end the void creature was not banished, the abyssal gate stayed open, and we were being attacked from behind while fighting an endless hoard of demons.
"We didn't have enough time to deal with everything, so we made a plan to plug the abyssal gate with the void creature. It was my plan!"
"It was a crazy plan that I cannot believe worked. How did that even get through?"
"You agreed to it. You are crazy too."
The four archmage listens to the details in shock as they are uncovering the truth lost in history. April seems to be streaming? I can't tell, but she is waving and speaking frantically to the air.
"Since the void creature is unkillable, the demons cannot get through the gate, and we dealt with the remaining demons and traitors in this world. The battle went well, but it did not end in a good note though since the world was severely weakened by the invasions, especially the one from the void. The battle ended prematurely with the dragons and demons escaping and going into hiding."
With everyone's power weakening, we entered a relationship where we cannot kill them as long as they run. Being unable to use their strength does not mean losing their natural endurance.
But the war is about to start again now the world is almost restored.
"But how did the void creature stay still all these years? Surely the demons and the creature itself would try to remove its position."
The blue guy, Graham I learned, asks me. But Lylia is the one who answers.
"Isn't this realm built in a convenient place? There's nothing here, nothing to corrupt, devour, or destroy. We used all of our resources to move the gate and creature up here before sealing it in place. The demons can't do much unless they want to invite the void creature into the abyss."
"MY resources! My Celestial Court is being used as a core for sealing them in place."
"Yes, and you contribution will not be forgotten, to realise your own plan! Kakakaka!"
"So I-I was actually about to destroy the seal, and unleash such a h-horrible calamity to this w-world?"
Red, Roderick questions in a trembling voice.
"No, you think too highly of yourself."
What a terrible misconception.
After sating their curiosity, I kick them to one side to explore the platform on their own, leaving only me and Lylia.
"Our juniors were really disappointing, they wouldn't be able to deal with them if we're gone."
"Isn't that why we stayed in this world using every trick in the books? Even an elf's lifespan won't tide you through the wait since you lived out most of it, that's why you became a Lich."
"True."
Lylia nods easily. She does not want to put the responsibility on our juniors in the first place. The void creature, the demons, and the black dragons. There is something we've decided to deal with.
"Then Chancellor, what crazy plan do you have for us this time."
