Chapter 4 - Stuck with you

"What are you doing here?!" he asked furiously,

His eyebrows furrowed, he pushed his glasses back onto the ridge of his nose as it got slipped down from his face when he hurriedly ran over to see who came. The familiar look of the girl standing in front of him made him shudder. He then did not wait for the terrified girl to speak and just reached for the door handle and tried to open it. But it won't. He then realized he was stepping on a pebble so he kneeled and picked it up.

He slowly turned his head towards the girl and showed her the pebble, the girl gulped and looked away, "I- uhh--" she took a peek of the man's serious face again then looked away,

The man took out a big sigh. "This basement's doorknob got broken just a few days ago, once you close it, it can only be open from the outside,"

Luna's eyes widened, "Then does that mean--?" the man looked at her in all seriousness, "Yes, it is what you think it is."

He shook his head out of frustration and just went back inside, "W-Wait!" Luna followed him inside. out of all places in the castle, this is the most likely the simplest but most ravishing one. It's a simple room but filled color of lights. One can tell this can't be a basement.

Luna shifted her gaze to the man quietly writing something. She slowly walked towards him feeling apologetic for what she has done that they are in this situation.

"I-I'm sorry," she said as she looked away, The man looked at her and she was surprised to see his face clearly with the lights, "You--!" she pointed her finger directly to his face,

"W-What?" he stammered, She smiled at him beautifully as she slowly put her hands down, "Thank you... for saving me," His eyes widened in surprise as Luna looked at him directly in the eyes which made his heart beat faster, "R-Ren..."

"Ren?" he asked, "I-Isn't that your name? It's what I remember you told me. You left a message for me and told me you're a royal guard."

He started thinking back on what he did that day and almost forgot that he told her his name. "Y-Yeah..." He faltered. "It's nothing, I didn't help you that much."

She shook her head, "No, because of you I realized some things are worth fighting for, I never had much to know about my parents and never fought to know things about them, but then... you saved me, and made me realize there's something still worth fighting for."

"Then what are you doing here?" He asked seriously, "I don't know... the Prince offered me to marry him... a non-noble like me--" she said disheartened.

He removed his glasses and placed them on the table, "For sure there is a reason for that, Milady,"

She averted her gaze from the man standing in front of her, feeling unease every time she hears the people around her call her like that.

Then faint flashes of her memories back at the magic festival showed up again, she grit her teeth, and her eyes were tightly closed as her hands form into fists as she can feel her blood boiling inside her and rushing up through her brain making her feel strong yet so scared of what was happening to her.

It's happening again. Again and again. But no, this is different. She feels like this kind of thing already happened to her once, she just can't quite remember when it happened. She opened up her eyes trying to see if Ren was still there, he was there, looking at her. His eyebrows furrowed, looking so concerned. He was saying something but Luna could hear his distorted voice.

Her mind was blank, she couldn't think of anything but herself. Then she felt something was wetting her face and realized tears are running through her cheeks. Her trembling body was looking for something to support on until her hands reached the table behind her. But she was out of control and fell on the floor hitting her head against the corner of the table along with the flower vase.

The shards of glass from the broken flower vase were scattered on the floor around her. Her hands were once again wounded but she ignored the pain.

Ren pulled Luna closer to him who looked so terrified and hugged her tightly. She was sobbing and his shirt got wet because of the tears that continuously flows from her eyes.

Her heart was beating so fast that she feels like it was trying to escape her chest with the way it was pounding so heavily against her breastbone which made her catch her breath.

Her body trembled violently because her fear overcame her self-control. Ren was still holding onto her, never letting her go.

He thought that back at the magic festival she could hear him. But right now he doubts that she can hear him at all. He never really wanted to do this. This girl is nothing but just a normal girl he encountered. Now he's wondering why he has to do all these things for her. Why does she have to be stuck in this basement along with him? She is just a hindrance to him and nothing else. So why can't he let go of her despite knowing all those things?

The girl felt something hot dripping from her head making her dizzy. She touched her forehead and looked at her hand with blood in them. "Is this my blood?" she said in her mind. Her eyes suddenly widened when she noticed the wounds on her hands earlier were gone.

"M-My wound--"

Ren looked at her as she fell asleep from the dizziness. He knows what he has to do right now. He needs to call for someone to help them.

Then he heard some guards coming at the basement looking for him.

"We have been looking for you--" The guard was shocked to see that Ren was carrying a woman and didn't even listen to them and just walked away.
