Chapter 9 - Grieving

She looked around inside the infirmary and saw the curtain covering one bed. The person standing there was Prince Gabriel and His Majesty earnestly waiting for Luna to come.

Luna squared up to her shoulders and told herself to relax. The atmosphere inside the infirmary is suspiciously intriguing yet her heart and resolve were filled with restlessness.

She flashed a forced smile for the His Majesty, now she could feel like this is the time she could ask him more about her magic. "Your majesty, I--"

His Majesty cuts her off, "Lady Luna, I know what you want to know, but I sincerely think this isn't the right time for that. For now, Let your fiancee, Prince Keane show you what you must see."

She turned her gaze towards Prince Keane who instantly avoided her glare, "What I must see?" she asked,

Keane then started to walk towards the curtain, slowly opening a way to get inside, "Follow me," he spoke deliberately,

She looked at Roxanne first who was standing beside her and looked at His Majesty and Prince Gabriel once again but still couldn't find a hint of what is happening right now. She somehow feels so edgy right now that she just wants to disappear from this mystifying and unsettling situation. Because she knows that something is not right. Her wild instincts tell her to be wary of the situation that it even makes her fur stand on end.

She slowly walked towards Prince Keane, when she reached him he pulled the curtains to the side which revealed to her the most undesirable sight she never wanted to see. Her legs started to tremble as her whole body starts going numb.

"Fa--" she couldn't find the strength to speak, she walked calmly towards her father lying on the bed. Bloodstains all over the bandages that were wrapped in his wounds. His breathing was unstable and she could feel that he was fighting to live, struggling to live. So she sat down beside him, trying to hold back her tears after seeing the pitiful image of her beloved father.

"Father, how are things with you and mother?" she asked with her voice quivering, trying to sound calm so her father won't have to worry.

He unhurriedly opened his mouth to answer, "We're--d-doing fine," he said with a soft smile,

"I want to rest--"

As soon as she heard those words, her tears automatically fell down from her eyes, she wiped her tears and let him continue, "with your mother..." he said gently.

She hugged him tightly but carefully avoiding his injuries, "I see, you can rest now. My Father..."

Prince Keane, His Majesty, and Prince Gabriel are watching them from a distance. Roxanne, trying to hold back her tears.

"You're cold, Father..." Her tears continuously ran down her cheeks. "you...must be cold." she reiterated as she covered him with a blanket, leaving him one last kiss on the forehead.

She stood up and wiped her tears, she turned to look at His majesty,

"Your Majesty, I, Lady Luna, promise to know what really happened with this incident. Please help me get revenge," she said daringly,

Prince Keane looked at his majesty, trying to tell him to not allow her.

"I give you the permission to help out with what's behind this incident,--"

"Father--!"

"On one condition, Lady Luna. You must let prince Keane ensure your safety."

Luna nodded, "Yes, Your Majesty... but before all. Where is my mother's corpse?"

"Milady, are you sure you want to do this?" Prince Gabriel asked,

"Based on my Father's deep wounds and scratches," she looked at his father,

"This is not a doing of a human, nor magic cannot cause this much injury on a person. I have no intention of seeing my mother's condition, but I should tell you, with all due respect, your royal highness, I must see her." She said without ringing a single hesitation in her voice.

Prince Keane looked at her in the eyes, and there he only realized how much she changed. Her eyes were cold as ice as if he could never sense or see single happiness out of it. Her eyes changed as if she never care about others anymore, and solely focusing on getting her revenge. The eyes of a fox who audaciously face this kind of situation.

His Majesty already made his way back to his office. Luna got Irritated with her hair with so many hairpins and accessories in it, so she pulled all of them out which made her hair fall down captivatingly. Making Prince Keane and Prince Gabriel step back a little.

Luna looked at both of them enchantingly. Their eyes widen. Luna walked past them and came back to her room.

"What just--?? What kind of aura is that?" Prince Gabriel asked,

"I don't know, maybe her animal spirit is strong," Prince Keane said,

Prince Gabriel shook his head, "You're wrong,"

"What? why?"

"The both of us are stronger than the other animal spirits, but with just Luna's actions our wild instincts tell us to avoid her, and why is that? It's because her animal spirit is much stronger than us wolves."

"Could it be that she's?? But it's impossible, they went extinct a hundred years ago."

"But if she is one of them, that could only mean that she's our enemy." Prince Gabriel explained,

A doctor came in, "Your royal highness, I've found a way to help Lady Luna get rid of her magic, but this way, we can use it as potions and can even save a person near death."

Prince Gabriel looked at his brother, "Is this what Luna wants?"

"She wants to. Don't worry, I'll tell her about it and let her decide." Prince Keane said,

Wolves... we're from the same clan of wolves, but we're different. We don't kill innocent people for fun.
