Chapter 23 - I did it without thinking...

When his vision cleared up, all he could see was white and his body felt a little too awake. He could hear every sound, he could feel every breath and at the slightest of touch, his body reacted greatly.

He gulped as he looked at the far-off distance and noticed somebody standing there. Without thinking too much about it, Wang GuiYing ran towards that person only to realize that it was Xin.

Xin was busy staring down at the small sapling on the ground and although he did notice Wang GuiYing's presence in this void, he did not pay much attention to the other.

Wang GuiYing came to a halt in front of the sapling and just like Xin, he also stared down at the small sapling with great interest.

For some reason, he already knew that this was the spiritual root inside his body. He felt a connection to the sapling and the sapling felt a connection to him as well.

When he got close enough, the sapling danced with joy and begged for Wang GuiYing's affection.

"Wah!~ I really do have a spiritual root now...!" Wang GuiYing exclaimed, feeling elated all of a sudden.

Xin nodded his head with a small warm smile, "I would never lie to you."

"Indeed!" Wang GuiYing crouched down near the sapling and chuckled as he tried to touch it but before his hand could touch the fragile leaves of the sapling, Xin grabbed his wrist and stopped him.

Wang GuiYing was taken by surprise and he stared at the hand that had grabbed him. His wrist suddenly started getting red, not because the grip was too tight but because his skin was too sensitive at the moment.

Xin immediately let go of the man's hand as he apologized, "I did it without thinking. I'm sorry to have offended you."

Wang GuiYing only laughed it off, "It's okay. It's nothing."

"The spiritual root is rather young so even the slightest of touch can completely destroy it," Xin explained and Wang GuiYing nodded his head in understanding, already having guessed that to be the case.

"But where are we?" Wang GuiYing asked as he looked around.

No matter how far he looked, it was all white. It was empty and endless.

"Inside you," Xin replied with simple two words.

"..." Wang GuiYing blinked a few times and gulped as he heard this, trying to check whether he had heard it right or not.

"To be more exact, We are inside your conscious," Xin revealed.

Wang GuiYing had no idea what the man was saying but he clearly knew that this was not something that he should be happy about.

This was a breach of privacy! Who gave this man permission to enter inside him?!

Wang GuiYing was certainly a bit offended but he wasn't angry enough to scold the man.

Xin soon took his fingers back and they returned to the mountains where they were originally standing.

Entering someone's conscious was clearly not something that players usually did. In fact, mages were the only ones who could do it and even then, not many actually did it simply because of how intimate of an action it was.

One needed to have complete trust over the other in order to successfully enter the other's conscious because inside of that vast endless void, both the owner and the guest were completely vulnerable. All of their five senses were heightened and if they were hurt even just a little bit in there, their real bodies would be fatally wounded.

Since it was such a dangerous decision to make, even lovers would not dare choose to do it.

Xin was well aware of what he had just done but Wang GuiYing was yet to comprehend the intimate meaning behind the situation.

"How much morning dew would I have to consume if I want the spiritual root to grow?" Wang GuiYing enthusiastically asked, immediately forgiving the man for entering his conscious.

"About ten more bowls of soup," Xin spoke.

Wang GuiYing couldn't help but look a little disappointed as he heard this and he immediately voiced out his worries, "You probably won't be here to make those ten bowls of soup, right? You'll need to leave this place as soon as you find Li Ling."

Xin smiled thinly as he heard this but said nothing as a response.

"It's okay," Wang GuiYing sighed as he tried to make himself feel better, "Even I would need to leave this place once I find Zhou Xinyi so in the end, the spiritual root would still be useless to me."

Although he had said that, his expressions clearly gave him away and revealed his true feelings.

Xin quietly went back to make the soup and Wang GuiYing also took a seat back on the stone chair that Xin had created for him.

Wang GuiYing still felt as if his whole body was hot and although they were already out of his conscious, nothing really changed in his body. His five senses were still heightened and he still felt as if he was undergoing the symptoms of an aphrodisiac.

Xin also felt the same but compared to Wang GuiYing, he was much better at self-control and could fake his expressions skillfully, not letting anyone notice that something was wrong with his body.

Even back in the conscious, when he grabbed Wang GuiYing's wrist, he had this strong urge to pull the man closer and bite those soft tempting pink lips.

He had to use all his might to stop himself and before he did anything he later regretted, he immediately let go of the man's hand and apologized.

After that, he didn't even dare look at the man. Without giving any warning, he left the conscious out of pure embarrassment.

Wang GuiYing had no idea that Xin had also suffered in there, so he felt wronged for being the only one who had to go through that weird feeling.

In about twenty minutes, Xin was done making the soup and by then, their bodies had also calmed down.

The two sat down, facing each other, and quietly ate the delicious soup that brought their bodies a lot of benefits.

When they were done with their breakfast, they stood up and got moving once again.

Xin knew that Li Ling was somewhere inside this mountain but he wasn't exactly sure where so they could only walk around in search of the man.

Although they were already looking for him, their feelings were a bit messed up. On one hand, they wanted to find the man so that Xin could be saved before it was too late, while on the other hand, they felt that it was a pity for them to part this soon.

The two were busy in their thoughts and were completely unaware of the beast that snuck up on them from behind.

This beast was a snail serpent. It was slimy and looked like a snake but it also had the shell of a snail that looked to be indestructible. It made no noise as it slithered towards them and it could be said that the snail serpent was quite good at sneak attacks.

The snail serpent opened its mouth and got ready to attack the two. Perhaps the beast could sense how powerful Xin was and hence, it didn't even dare go for him, instead, the snail serpent turned to Xin's companion and headed for Wang GuiYing instead.

Wang GuiYing's gut feeling told him that he should dodge and without even knowing whether something was attacking him or not, he bent forward and dodged the attack.

The snail serpent never would have thought that its attack would fail and hence when Wang GuiYing bent forward, The snail serpent missed and could not make another attack in that short span of time.

Wang GuiYing's eyes widened in shock and he immediately stepped away from the creature, almost cursing out loud.

Although the snail serpent had missed the first attack, it had no plans on letting its prey go, and hence, it hissed at Wang GuiYing and got ready for another attack.

Wang GuiYing looked over at Xin, hoping the man to interfere and help, but unfortunately, Xin didn't do anything to help the man.

"It's a weak beast," Xin spoke as he pointed out, "If you can win against it, you can collect the magical stone left behind by it. All the best."

After saying this much, Xin stepped back and gave the two some space to fight.

"..." Wang GuiYing couldn't help but feel betrayed as he saw the man's reaction.

The snail serpent stretched its neck out forward and with its mouth wide open, it once again attacked Wang GuiYing.

"Damn it!" Wang GuiYing cursed out as he jumped aside and evaded the attack.

Wang GuiYing knew what Xin was trying to do, however, he didn't appreciate it very much.

So far, all the beasts had been beaten by Xin and hence, Wang GuiYing had no chance of collecting the magical stones that the beast left behind.

Magical stones were considered as currency in this gaming world so it was only natural that they were important for players.

Xin wanted Wang GuiYing to fight this beast and take its magical stone, but Wang GuiYing had no interest in those shiny virtual stones.
