Chapter 4 - If the strike fails, beg for your life.

Acantha used her powers and summoned a ball of fire that was aimed at the head of the snake. The fireball also acted as the only light that illuminated the place and now, the full body of the snake could be clearly seen for a minute or so.

The snake had pure black scales decorated all over its body that stretched throughout the length of the dungeon.

The mere size of the snake was enough to scare any player. Its head alone was bigger than a bus and its tail couldn't even be seen.

Asmodeus gulped as he saw the snake and he would be lying if he claimed to not be intimidated by it. In fact, he was so intimidated that his body had been frozen with fear and he was ready to run away at any given moment.

Damon summoned a string of concentrated wind and wrapped it around the snake's neck, trying to decapitate it, but just like the fireball thrown by Acantha, it was a showy move that made no difference in the actual fight.

The three attackers used their weapons and attacked together. All aiming for the head that seemed to be the weakest point of the snake.

Wang GuiYing unconsciously nodded as he secretly judged their every action.

In his honest opinion, this team was not completely useless. Some of the players were quite talented, to say the least, but their skills were wasted in this team that was led by Asmodeus.

Zeus was a sword wielder and hence, he attacked with a sword but both he and his sword were knocked down as soon as the sword came in contact with the tough scale of the snake.

Wang GuiYing almost wanted to guide these players as their senior and teach them a few tricks, but he refrained from doing anything at the moment since he came here only to get information from Asmodeus. It need not be mentioned that he was also enjoying this circus and hence had no motivation to intervene just yet.

Ares was quite good with his bow and arrow but his attacks were also useless since the arrows would just bounce off of the snake's scales. Hector, on the other hand, dealt with a hammer and the hammer immediately shattered with the first attack itself.

Hector's ego shattered along with his hammer and he looked to be quite furious about it as he summoned another hammer that was shinier and bigger in size.

If Asmodeus was the most useless member of the team, Hector was probably the second most useless one.

"Strike the snake before it strikes you down. If your strike fails then beg for your life," Wang GuiYing commented loudly and chuckled. He was clearly the only one who was having fun.

"Damn it!" Ares cried out as he changed his arrows and attacked the snake once again.

"Be careful!" Acantha shouted and in the very next moment, the snake attacked them back for the first time.

This snake was the strongest monster in the game that had remained undefeated to date so, of course, its attack was just as powerful as its infamous reputation.

The snake opened its mouth and hissed at the players. The sound created was so strong that most of the players started bleeding from their ears and the ones that were closer to the snake got impacted the most.

Wang GuiYing, as a healer, had the privilege of activating a revival shield around him.

A revival shield was something that only a healer could use and it was also one of the most useful items in the game. Not only did it give the player unlimited stamina, but it also bounced off any and all attacks, making the player almost immortal once the shield was activated.

If a healer was killed, he could very well come back alive with the help of this activated revival shield.

When the ear-piercing sound stopped, the players were all left disoriented with their stamina cut half and their health bar also suffering a huge blow.

"You there!" Ares limped over to Wang GuiYing as he spoke, "Heal me."

Ares was the only one who didn't say anything rude to Wang GuiYing till now, but that didn't change the fact that Wang GuiYing had already decided not to intervene or aid in this fight.

With a smile, Wang GuiYing leisurely put his hands behind his head as he spoke, "Don't want to."

"..."

"Just ignore that idiot," It was Zeus who gritted out as he clenched his fist and spit out a mouthful of blood.

Ares frowned and his eyebrows creased together as he glared at Wang GuiYing but Wang GuiYing did not show any change in expression and simply kept his smile that looked to be mocking the whole team.

"Asmodeus, what do we do?" Acantha looked over at the boy as she anxiously asked.

Asmodeus gulped as he finally snapped out of his thoughts and stuttered, "L-let's keep attacking. Every monster has a weak point. If we keep fighting, we'll be able to find it."

"That's right!" Hector added as he shook his head and tried to stand up straight, "For now, let's go for the eye."

If the scales were too tough to be penetrated, the eyes would seem to be a weaker target. This was not something hard to guess.

Wang GuiYing shook his head with a sigh but nobody noticed this small reaction.

To destroy the eyes of the snake was a strategy that most players would use in such a scenario. However, only a few would realize how unpromising that strategy would be.

In the first place itself, snakes were not creatures that were dependent on their eyesight. They used their tongue more than they used their eyes and even without their eyesight, they would still be able to sense and accurately attack their prey.

If the other team members were to realize this, they would certainly want to give up, thinking that they had no chance of winning against a monster that seemed to have absolutely no weakness at all.

In fact, at first glance, this snake monster indeed seemed to be invincible, however, Wang GuiYing had much more experience to see the difference between an invincible creature and a creature that had a hidden weakness that could not easily noticed.

Since Hector was the one who suggested it, he was also the one who attacked first, heading directly for the snake's eyes.

When he got close enough, the snake moved back and swung its tail so precisely and fastly that Hector was knocked unconscious as he was thrown towards the other side of the dungeon and passed out after hitting his head on the wall.

After the snake's first attack, Ares had been injured to the extent where he couldn't even lift the arrow and Wang GuiYing also refused to heal him so of course, he could do nothing but stand down for now.

Zeus gritted his teeth as he went forward and tried to stab the snake's right eye but before the sword could touch the eye, the snake moved back and dodged the attack at a speed that could be considered too fast for the eye to see.

Acantha and Damon shared a look before nodding as they decided to merge their attacks.

Acantha's fire and Damon's wind created a fire whirl that headed towards the snake.

The fire whirl looked to be quite strong and intimidating.

This time, Wang GuiYing was also a bit surprised to see that the two mages could summon such a strong fire whirl and he was also a bit impressed to see that these two planned on burning the snake into a crisp instead of aiming for its eye.

This was clearly a better strategy, but it was still not enough.

The snake sensed the dangerous fire whirl and hissed. The sound was more concentrated this time and it immediately blew away the fire whirl.

This was the first time Acantha and Damon had tried to merge their attacks and hence, they did not have the best control over it. When the fire whirl was blown away, the two players panicked and the fire went out of control as the wind fanned it and spread it around.

"Curse it all!" Somebody shouted with fear, "I don't want to die here! Let's get out!"

Hector who was knocked unconscious would have certainly punched the player who had shouted in fear like that, but the boy was already knocked unconscious and the corner of his cloak was also on fire thanks to the uncontrolled fire whirl.

"Shut up!" Zeus sounded pretty pissed off as he stepped on the corner of Hector's cloak and put off the fire, "We're already here. We can't back down now!"

Wang GuiYing smiled as he heard the boy and nodded his head as he mentally thought, 'The boy certainly has the spirit and determination.'

But sadly enough, spirit and determination were not enough to win against the strongest monster inside this game.
