Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

She gave Harley the look. The look to shut up.

"Whatever, if you don't want to tell me, that's fine. You're lucky your father is on a business trip. But if he finds out whatever you're doing, you're on your own." She said, standing up from her seat. Harley sighed, watching her walk out and up the stairs. He groans, flopping, laying sloppily on the couch.

"Why does it feel like I'm always on my own?"

Hisoki was sitting at his desk, writing things in his notebook. A message, if you will. Yoshi was the first to run into class, which was rare. "We're going to the mall tomorrow." Yoshi voiced cutely, crossing his arms and stomping his feet. Hisoki looks up, spinning his chair to look at him. He leans back, crossing his ankle over his left. He smirks "Oh really? Who?" He mocks, crossing his arms just like Yoshi. The student glares at him. "Fine, we can. Why not? But only after school."

"Yes!" Baker, who was behind the other, picked him up from his waist, waddling over to Yoshi's seat. "I don't think you have any right demanding our teacher." Baker said calmly. He sat Yoshi down in his seat, before going to his own. "Hey, Hisoki. You still need to tell us about Mago." Baker reminded me. Yoshi gasped, clapping his hands. "Oh yeah!! You do!"

He had forgotten about that. In Hisoki's mind, there really wasn't much to tell. THey got together, they broke up. It was simple. Mago walked in, going up to Hisoki's desk. "Who did you switch with?" Mago asked, gaining Hisoki's attention. Hisoki was going to assume he was talking about what happened last night. He knew who the other was talking about. He smirked. "Why would I tell you that? Didn't he?" Mago shook his head.

"Well then, that has nothing to do with me." He smirked at the other, getting a glare back. Wafi walked in, behind them was Harley and Kai. Kai turns to look at Yoshi flailing in his seat, and sighs. "I am not going to ask what's happening…" He mutters, going to sit down. Harley looks at Hisoki, who gestures to the boy's seat, before sitting down.

"So, does anyone want to guess what we're doing today?" Hisoki says, tilting his head up to the class. Not shockingly, Yoshi raises his hand. "Um, does it have something to do with the test last week?" He asks, lowering his hand. Hisoki steps out of his seat, sliding it under his desk. "A little, but more about the fact that the first quarter is almost up." Hisoki explains, stepping up to their freshly cleaned board.

"Extra credit?" Kai asked hesitantly. Hisoki happily snapped his fingers, smiling and nodding his head. "Perfect! Yep, exactly. Extra credit. English is a prominent language, it's found almost everywhere you go in Tokyo. So, I want you to go around Tokyo, anywhere you want, and find as many English words or phrases you can by the time the class ends," Hisoki glances at the clock. "Which gives you about two hours."

Everyone scrambles to their feet, "Words are formative, phrases are summative. Each English word or phrase has five points." He watches as they all run to the door, ready to be the first out of the classroom. "BUT WAIT, one more thing. If you aren't in this classroom, you get nothing. Ok?" He asks, the four quickly nodding their heads. Hisoki sits down on the corner of his desk. "You may start." Everyone ran out, Hisoki could see in the corner of his eye. Besides one. Harley sat at his desk, on his phone. "You know Mago just ran out even though he doesn't even take this class, right?" Harley said, not even glancing up from his phone.

He wasn't wrong, Mago didn't take this class, and yet he wanted extra credit. Hisoki walked to the door, peeking his head through. Mago was down the hall, laughing about something. When the tanned boy saw Hisoki, he laughed, running up to the other. "They were arguing on what car should they take, it was fucking hilarious. Yoshi almost tackled Baker like five times," Mago took a breath, as Hisoki pulled into the classroom. "Holy shit that was- oh my god I should have got that on video."

Hisoki rolled his eyes. "Are they ok?" Hisoki asked, shutting the door behind the other. Mago scoffed. "They'll be fine. I think…" He replied, giggling. Harley looked up from his screen for a moment. "Are you drunk?" He asked, but it seemed the question was genuine. Mago looked towards him, shaking his head. "Hell no, unless you mean drunk on laughing. Then hell yes." He turned to Hisoki. "Why is he here? I wanted us to have some alone time." He whined, poking Hisoki's chest. THe professor pushed.

Harley however sighed. "Yeah, now I'm definitely not going anywhere." Hisoki sighed, walking back to his desk. Mago sat beside Harley. "Didn't know you were into voyeurism. But I can make that-"

"MAGO, SHUT IT." Hisoki yelled towards the other, getting a frown from Mago. "Sorry, my bad." He muttered. Harley laughed, setting his phone down. "Damn, you just got called out." He said, nudging Mago's shoulder before standing up. "I ask again, why are you even here?" Harley didn't turn to look at Mago, instead walking up to the board. He grabbed a red marker, popping off the top and starting to write. "What's the point when you already have all five points?"

Mago gasped, turning over to Hisoki. He looked up at the college student. "He's not wrong." Hisoki verified. Harley was a very smart kid. Since he was a teacher, he could see all of the boys' grades, and they were all pretty amazing. He had only one four, and that was for the day he wasn't there. But Hisoki had a feeling he was going to graduate top of his class. "What? How is that even possible? You didn't give me good grades!"

Hisoki looked up at Mago, scoffing. "That's because you didn't care about my class until we hooked up." Hisoki said calmly. Harley rolled his eyes. "I fucking knew it." He muttered. He stepped away from the board, recapping the marker. Hisoki turned over to read. Mago frowned, not understanding it since it was in English. "You two, translation." Hisoki laughed. "Never put your happiness in someone else's hands." Hisoki hummed, going over to read the quote on the board.

His heels clicked in the silence as he crossed his arms, reading the quote one more time. "Where did you get this from?" Hisoki asked, turning to Harley. He nonchalantly shrugs. "Don't really know." He shrugs, going to sit back down. "Do you believe it's true?" Hisoki asked once again. It was an intriguing quote to say the least. Harley nodded. "Yeah I do, it's depressing but still true." He sits down beside Mago.

"Well, then. I have a question. Let's say you love someone a lot. You married them, want to be with them forever, all of that. And suddenly, they told you, 'I don't love you anymore.' How would that make you feel?" He questioned, leaning on the board. He raised an eyebrow to the two. "Oh shit, here comes one of Hisoki's philosophy." Mago jokes. Harley goes quiet, thinking for a moment. "Uh, well bad I guess. Like really sad."

Hisoki hummed. "Ok, well now imagine you're the person telling that to your partner. You loved them the same way they loved you, but for some reason. For you that love didn't stay. You didn't want to hurt them, but you wanted to tell the truth. How would you feel then?" Harley and Mago think for a moment. "Guilt, definitely guilt." Mago voiced, answering the question seriously. Harley nodded his head. "Pain, cause you didn't want to hurt them." Harley explained, going more into detail with Mago's answer.

"Well, in both scenarios. You expect for the other person to trust you enough, to hold your happiness. When the other person tells you they don't love you anymore, then you are going to feel terrible. Because you put your love, your strength, your happiness with that person. So when they say that, then they stole your happiness. The same goes for the other way around. If you tell your partner that, then you know that they aren't going to be happy. You're conscious by the fact that you held their happiness, and yet you dropped and it broke."

Hisoki placed his hands in his pockets, leaning up from the board and walking back to his seat. "If you truly love someone, then you must trust them to hold your happiness. They must cherish it and care for it as you do theirs. It's simple. If you don't trust someone enough to hold your happiness, as the quote suggests, then why love them?" Hisoki sits down at his desk, the room going quiet. Hisoki shrugged.

No one disagreed.
