Chapter 3 - The apocalypse (pt.1)

Seichi Kurotachi, the Last God, awoke from his slumber in his abode. A ringing start to reverberate into his ears as when he could clearly see with his vision, he saw an exclamation mark in his view, front and center.

'W-What?'

This view, it felt surprisingly familiar to him. Then, he reaches out with his fingers to touch the exclamation mark.

A small ring of a bell resounded.

Then, a screen of words and numbers appeared in front of him for his viewage. It was small and didn't have much for it in terms of content.

{Quick Thinking}

'Ah… this, is it, real?'

A feeling of disbelief mash in with shock and a little bit of excitement was enough to describe the current state Seichi is in. He hurriedly got up, just in time for the main show to start.

Rumble, Rumble, rumble

The first phase has commenced.

'Oh shit!'

He had just realized that he was on the second floor, not the ground floor. He hurriedly ran outside in his current clothes and took the stairs, because you know why. He ran as fast as he could, but since he doesn't have that much of a fit body, he was easily out of breath when he reached the ground floor.

He didn't catch a breath though, as he ran with desperation. He knows that if he's in somewhere filled with buildings like right now, he'll be with the others and stray from his intended original path. He was tired, but he still needed to run if he wanted to keep his life.

'And this isn't the game. I don't know what'll happen if I die.'

When he reached the ground floor, there were numerous other tenants of the apartment complex he's in. Among them was the landlady who was busy calming everyone down but seems to be having a hard time doing so.

'Poor her… but I can't dawdle.'

He makes his way to the exit and away from the apartment complex. It came down shortly afterward, burying whoever was still there.

'Hope I don't see those two older couples again.'

He ran for his life and headed to the streets of Shibuya.

.....

Two hours came to pass, and the massive earthquake subsided for now. Seichi was resting in the middle of an intact road with many others like him. For two hours straight, they had to endure a terrifying vibration that shook their entire bodies, and it did as much as reach their insides and stir it up into a mess.

Some were retching their guts out, while some just lay down in exhaustion. Cracks both large and small have appeared on the road and if not careful, one could get stuck in them and be extremely uncomfortable.

The moment the earthquake subsided, Seichi was thinking deeply through his memories.

'This is it… Divine Ascension.'

'After the first earthquake, two more will follow and with the third one, then comes the Mana Wave. It'll be good to acquire that Skill as soon as possible.'

Seichi stood up and looked at his Status. He still can't take in the fact that, he's now in his life's desired world. A world of fantasy, and not in the world of ordinary anymore.

'Alright, no time for dawdling, let's do this!'

Seichi began sitting in a lotus position and breathing in rhymically.

...…..

The second wave of earthquake ensued, and the place Seichi was wasn't safe anymore. He ran and ran and ran, trying to find somewhere that isn't broken or is still somewhat intact. He needs to do this before the end of the third wave, or else he'll miss out on some good chunk of magic power.

He escaped through a cloud of debris smoke. A house had just collapsed nearby and the smoke reached far. He coughed vehemently before realizing another situation. The road he's on, if he's in third person perspective, he would instantly know this place.

'It's 'that' event.'

Seichi went and hid by a corner, looking into a small road. In there, a student by the looks of it, was being punched around by a group of other students. Their punches weren't lenient, and they didn't hold back as they assaulted the poor lonely boy. He was knocked down, yet he still went back up. There was a conversation being held, but Seichi was too far away to hear it.

'There he is! The Blood Hunter!'

An NPC that Seichi has encountered in the game. He missed out on interacting with him at first since he was in a hurry and didn't have time to dawdle, and later in his playthrough, the same kid makes another appearance but this time under the alias 'Blood Hunter', a famous mercenary famed for his undying will and tenacity.

'He's a good addition to my army, but I got him quite late so he wasn't outstanding amongst my ranks.'

But now, he has the chance to recruit the same famous mercenary under his rank, this time early on. He was now curious, does the Blood Hunter have a Class in his possession?

'Now that this is reality and not fantasy, I'm quite sure he has a Class. If not, then that means he survived the first and second phase without needing to use anything but his human strength and intelligence.'

That was quite a feat, but it's totally impossible without the Goddess of Luck by your side. The first phase was easy, but the second phase was almost unpredictable in his first playthrough.

'Let's recruit him for now.'

He stepped out and approached the battle quietly, planning to use the element of surprise to his advantage. He was then able to hear the conversation the group of men was having.

"Well, even if it's now the apocalypse or some shit, I won't miss out on an opportunity to get my revenge!"

"Yeah! You dipshit, I begged you to stop and you just laughed! You sadistic bastard!"

They began to close the distance and also started to hammer down their punches even more. They relentlessly punch the future Blood Hunter until his face was swelling. But then, in a moment of absolute shock, he grabbed one of their incoming punches. The guy was about to disregard it as a nuisance and pulled his fist away, but then suddenly something thick hit him on the back of his head.

The other guys were caught off guard and looked over to their fallen comrade, only to see an older guy absolutely crushing him in the head.

'W-Wha…'

'T-The hell?'

When he killed him with his own hands and a brick, he tossed it to the side and stood up. His expression was hard to make out, but it soon turned into a smile.

"Come, rise from your darkness, and serve your future God."

He looks up with clouds of dark radiating from his silhouette. The darkness creeps and enters the dead corpse of their formerly alive classmate, and his fingers twitched. He then rose up, but his mouth breathed black fumes as his eyes looked at them, dead.

"Kill them for me. Unleash your rage!"

"Graahhhhh!"

[Cursed Tongue have buffed your Undead's Strength by 10%]

He charges at them and punches wildly. The future Blood Hunter moved out of the way and looked from a distance with his back against a wall. He looks at his previous suppressors being demolished by their own. His gaze then fixed on Seichi, his gaze seemed to be contemplating about something.

'Great, I have his attention now. Let's put on a show.'

Seichi picks up another different brick, as he doesn't want blood to stick to his hand more than it already has. He approaches and circles their battle for any openings for him to use. And he periodically checks through his peripheral vision to see if the young Blood Hunter is still paying attention and hasn't run away due to boredom.

In the aftermath, every one of them was dead. Blood splattered the ruined, dust-filled ground. The darkness seeped out even more, and then possessed the corpses. He now has six undeads under his command, and they all have horrific and disfigured appearances.

'W-Wha… What is this guy?'

"Hello there, kid…"

Seichi stood before the young Blood Hunter. Even though the young man in front of him is as high as he is, he feels significantly smaller than Seichi right now. He faltered, but did not fall to his knees. He grit his teeth and stood strong.

"Hey…"

'Oho, interesting.'

The same voice as the Blood Hunter in Divine Ascension. A cold and emotionless voice, but due to his young age, he didn't sound like a husk yet.

'I wonder if he has a backstory, or is willing to tell it.'

He has explored almost everything in DA, but he apparently still misses some stuff. He thought he must've had somewhere between 95-98% completion. But, when it was revealed that he got lower than that, he just sighed in disappointment.

'But now, I could possibly reach a higher percentage. I just need to live through 'that' moment.'

Seichi then tilted his head as he looked around. The young Blood Hunter was wary of what he's trying to look for, and eventually, he also looked over to the direction he was looking at for a moment now.

'S-Sister?!'

'Hoh? A light aura?'

At the other side, a girl with sakura-colored hair arrived and around her silhouette was a golden light color. She was anxiously looking at the pair's direction and when she saw something different than what she anticipated, she looked shocked.

'A… necromancer?'

"Ashiro! Run!"

"Ashiro?"

But, even though her brother was shouting for her to run and she's facing off against a necromancer who seems to know what he's doing, she didn't turn tails but instead charged forward. In her palm, light started to accumulate and when the undead looked at it, their eyes sizzled like it was being fried.

"Graaahh!"

They reacted violently and almost lashed out to attack before Seichi could hold down their reigns. He uses his only Curse he currently has in possession.

"What do you think you're doing, courting death?"

[Cursed Tongue has inflicted the target with Fear]

Then, her courageous charge came to a halt and her eyes started to swell with tears. Seeing that his sister was being inflicted with something, he turned his head back and quickly threw out a punch straight at Seichi's face.

He reacted rather slowly, but he managed to minimize the damage. The undead went in and restrained young Blood Hunter, and made him bend the knee.

"Don't do anything rash, or you'll join my army much, much earlier than intended."

Seichi spoke with clear hostility. This made the young Blood Hunter pause for a moment, and he turn to his sister.

"Why are you here?!"

"Because… because if I didn't, you would-"

"Stop that now, young Holy Bearer."

"E-Eh?"

Seichi looked at her coldly, something he was good at ever since high school to now. His looks just incites unwanted attention sometimes and lands him into some pretty nasty situations, yet he manages to scrape by without a care.

'But now it's useful.'

And that's all he cared about.

.....

The apocalypse was in progress, and lives were lost. Humanity was in a state of crisis. They feared the unknown, so they naturally became fearful that this might be the time their race finally dies. But, what they don't know is that, a salvation was approaching. Or at least, a better means of protection.
