Chapter 4 - 4. Is That a Body

Lola's POV

Finally the crystal had drilled it's way through the wall it was only a hole big enofe for one person to look through Aroura and I nervously looked at one another. Aroura covered the hole with her hand before speaking in a whisper "I don't wanna get my eye poked when I look through." I hadn't even thought about that, I covered one of my eyes quickly n response, I had just scared of what we would see, well now I'm worried about my eyes too.

Aroura dashed over to her bag and dumped it out on the bed. "What are you doing?" I asked her

"Shhhh." Is the response Aroura gave me. She rifled through her belongings on the bed until she found something long and silver.

"What is that, and why is it in your bag?" I asked staring at the object in her hand.

"It's chopsticks, see" Aroura said like it was an obvious question

"But why did you bring them?" I asked again

"I don't know I saw them sitting in the kitchen and something told me take those too, so I did." The fact that she seemed to not be affected by the obvious magic or supernatural element of her grabbing those is beyond me. Aroura returned to the hole in the wall and put one of the chopsticks through to the other side, she wiggled it around and finally pushed it all the way through.

"Ahg, why did you do that?" I said to her in surprise

"I don't think anyone is in the room, I'm going to look." Aroura sounded nervous and determined. She leaned her head down and looked though the small hole "Aaaaaah," Aroura screamed a few seconds later and covered her eye.

"Oh my gosh, did someone stab you," I was so concerned and Aroura was crouching down and as I leaned down to check on her

"Just kidding." And she put her hands in the air.

"That is so not funny." I yelled at Aroura and punched her in the arm, "you have been spending too much time with Peter, thinking things like that are funny."

Aroura is still laughing hysterically and has to hold herself up on the dresser, "I know, I know, I'll stop, I won't do it again." She could barely get words out in between her laughter. I just stood and watched her until she finally calmed down.

"Ok now?" I asked

"Yes, I'm so sorry." Aroura said the words but the look on her face said she was so happy.

"Once our cloths finish drying we can go next door again, since it finally stopped raining." I said in an effort to change the mood.

"Why wait," Aroura grabbed her wet shoes and damp jacket and opened the door "Coming?" She asked

I looked at Aroura in her fluffy pajama pants and shoes half on her feet. Than glanced down at myself, "Really we have on pajamas."

"No one is in the room and I doght anyone will notice us, come on."

I didn't want to but I followed along and put on my damp jacket and wet shoes as well, I followed her to the door of the neiboring hotel room. I gave my sister a look like now what, but she just smiled and took out some tools from her jacket pockets.

"It's a good thing this hotel is super old." Aroura said as she poped the door open. We hurried inside and closed the door behind us.

Looking around this room there doesn't seem to be anything special. I find my pendulum and the silver chopstick and pick them both up. Aroura was still looking at the room she shrugged, then went to the bathroom and turned on the light. "Aaaaaaaah" Aroura screamed

"It's not funny." I scolded her and walked up to her side "Oh my god, is that a body."

"It is, do you think they are alive?" Aroura asked we stood in the doorway of the hotel bathroom unsure of our next move.

After what seemed like an etenity Aroura finally stepped into the bathroom and reached out to touch the body in the bathtub. I could tell it was a male with pale skin and dark black hair. The shower curtin had fallen down on him but he had shoes on so I believe he must still be dressed. As Aroura's hand finally reached the jet black hair she turned his head to face us.

"It's Matt." I gasped as we both lept back "But what happened to him?"

Aroura suddenly looked panicked and her eyes started darting around the bathroom, I tried my best to follow, but I wasn't seeing what she was. "We have to hurry." Aroura whispered in a panic. She stood and walked to the wall with the hole in it and moved a painting to cover it. "You have the pendulum and chopstick right?" She asked still whispering I nodded in a panic I wasn't sure what Aroura was concerned about but the way she was acting put me on edge. "We have to carry Matt back to our room."

I nodded again but that seemed like a big task, Matt is uncocious and 6ft 1 or better and he probably weighs between 180 and 200lbs. Aroura seemed to notice the hesitation on my face. "We can do this." She stated with a voice full of resolve and she grabbed under Matt's arms leaving me the lighter weight of his legs. I followed suit and picked up both legs, he is even heavier than I thought he would be. Aroura and I struggle to even get him out of the bathroom and once we finally do get him near the door of the hotel room my grip gives out and I drop both his legs. Aroura looks angry, but takes a breath and sets Matt's upper body down as gently as she can.

"I know he's heavy but we have to get out of here before anyone comes back." Aroura got close to me to speak and although her voice was quite the anxity in her face made me feel even more panicked.

"OK, it's just a bit farther anyways." I replied and picked Matt's feet back up

Aroura nodded and opened to door in anticipation for our exit. Aroura seems so much stronger than me, she lifted Matt back into her arms seemingly effortlessly, I really need to work out more. We worked well as a team this time and made it to our hotel room in what seemed like half the time it took to get Matt out of that bathroom. We set him down on the bed and I slumped onto the foor, when I looked up Aroura was rushing around picking up our belongings.

"What are you doing?" I asked completely exhausted

"We have to leave, there is no service here, and no one knows were we are, we have to go before the people who did this to Matt get back." Aroura spelled it out plainly and without skipping a beat. I picked up my cell phone she was right when did she even check for service?

I stood up in slow-mo and began helping gather everything, from our wet clothing to my spell casting materials. We made two trips out to the car loading everything into the trunk and clearing room on the back seat for Matt. Aroura pulled the car up as close as she could to the hotel room door and we once again lifted Matt's limp body in order to put him in the car.
