It was a peaceful Friday afternoon. The sky is painted with the scarlet color of the setting sun. Streets are filled with people on their way home.
Two of them are the siblings, Dane and Chloe.
They just finished their school activities, albeit it was almost the time for the sun to rest, and for the moon to takes it place. The two walks side by side as they eat the takoyaki they bought from a stall they passed by on their way home.
It was another normal day for the two with the usual events. A mundane life without any trouble. Well, even if it's like that, the two are quite satisfied with such situation.
"So how was school?"
Dane asked his sister while glancing at her.
Picking up another takoyaki from the small cup she's holding, Chloe brought it towards her mouth.
"The same as usual, still a lot of confession letters "
She sighed and took a bite of her takoyaki, chewing it with a tired expression. Dane lightly chuckled.
"Well, aren't you popular?"
Dane smirked while he lightly elbowed her white-haired sister.
"It gets pretty tiring, you know."
She glared at her black-haired brother.
"It can't be helped right? It's because you're pretty cute with that white hair of yours."
"It's not like I dislike the attention. But it gets pretty annoying to reject every confession I receive every day."
"Can't relate. After all, I'm nowhere near popular. I'm not that hated or liked in the least, I guess?"
Dane shrugged as he gave her a light pat on the shoulder. There's tinge of irritation in Chloe's face but there's nothing she could do to deny her popularity in their school.
Chloe is known as one of school's Madonnas. Her silky snow white hair and her pale skin makes her a rare sight for the students and teachers alike. Because of that, tons of boys (and few girls) decided to confess and show their adoration towards her. But in the end, they were all shot down with a harsh refusal.
"I know you know that several students are envious of you."
"Well yeah, I do. But it'll just bring more trouble than good if I try to do anything about it. Sometimes it's better to just ignore them."
She looked at him while raising an eyebrow, while Dane just lightly scratched his cheek.
Being the brother of Chloe, he's naturally close to her. And because of their relationship, he became the target of their resentment and jealousy. Fortunately, there's no one who dared to go further than giving him death stares.
In the end of the day, it's just another day in the school for the two of them. They continued to chat as they walked towards their house.
They reached their home after some time, then went to their respective rooms to change. Dane finished changing his clothes first and made his way to the dining room, then after a minute or so, Chloe came out of her room and beelined to the kitchen.
Seeing her sister pass by, Dane asked.
"So what are we having tonight?"
"Let me just check the fridge. Well... We have ingredients to make pork stew. You fine with this?"
Chloe asked while still looking around the contents of the fridge.
"Yeah that's fine. I'll cook the rice then."
"Alright."
Dane stood up and then prepared the rice, while Chloe brought out the ingredients and started chopping them.
An hour later, their dinner was ready. The two started to eat as the delicious aroma of their meal filled the room. No words were shared between the two during their evening meal, only the sound of utensils lightly hitting the plate were heard. But the silence didn't make their meal less delectable. Instead, they were able to savor the small feast in front of them to their heart's content.
After they finished eating and then cleaning up, the two went to the living room to study together. Time passed while the two were occupied with their studies. Then, when the clock hit 10pm, the two took their books back to their rooms and swiftly went to sleep, but not before saying their good nights to each other.
It was another day for the two with their usual routines. There's nothing new to their lives. But of course, interesting things doesn't appear out of nowhere. Because if that's the case, it won't be interesting, right?
Let's leave it at that. After all, Fate is pretty unpredictable. But there are things that must happen or be done.
"Don't you think so, dear traveler?"
