The blue sky is covered by dark clouds that rains upon a barren battlefield filled with the smell of iron and rotting flesh. Only the sound of raindrops hitting the ground around her can be heard.
A battle that occurred few days ago turned this green plains to a wasteland devoid of life. Decaying corpses of different monsters and humans are all you can see. Anyone that would put their sight on this pitiful view would surely be horrified.
And amidst of the death filled land, a beautiful crimson haired girl, stood out. The sole living creature among the dead, kneeling on the ground without minding her wet hair and tattered black dress. She surely didn't care about the cold that bothers her. She couldn't afford to care.
Living yet there's no light in her eyes. Her once charming face is now filled with nothing but despair. Looking up to the sky, her expression is as dark as the clouds that hung above. Her powerless body unmoving for days.
She has no reason to live anymore. And yet, she can't take her life or die as she pleases. She's a weapon, after all, a tool can't choose when they or how can they die.
Her reason of existence is in front of her, now nothing but a corpse. She couldn't accept it. But what can she do? Her denial won't bring him back to life. He's dead and that's it. After all, death is the end for every mortal being in the universe.
But to others, he is their hope. Their hope, their savior, their lifeline. But now he's gone, everyone's were shattered to pieces. The Hero who is supposed to defeat the evil Demon Lord is dead.
He is her Master. Her loyalty, her service, and her life were dedicated to the Hero. It was her reason for existence. To be the Weapon that the Hero will use to vanquish the Demon Lord.
But now, everything was a thing in the past. Her present now is in front of her. The rotting corpse of her master. And her reason to live that faded away.
She can't even give him a burial. The day the Hero died, her body was consumed by powerlessness. Her soul trapped in the cage of flesh without any way out, staring at the lifeless body of her esteemed master, and some point, she stopped thinking. She became a living corpse.
"How pathetic."
She heard a familiar voice but she can't determine where it came from. But she didn't look for its source, because she knows from who it came from. Since that day, she wasn't able to close her eyes, but now, she feels a gentle warmth that slowly lulls her to sleep. Her eyelids slowly covered her eyes that are devoid of light. It was time for her to rest.
A tear fell from her face, and she murmured her last wish.
"Please..."
After that, her body fell to her side, laying beside the corpse of her master. Her soul is at peace now. Unable to feel or think, her suffering disappeared. There's nothing for her to grieve now.
"Another chance, is it?"
The voice that came from nowhere faded away as the rain stopped, and the sunlight passed through the gaps in the clouds as it illuminated the earth below.
