Chapter 1 - On the Workings of the Universe

Disclaimer: Naturally, these are my own views, so if any of them do not match up with your own, please feel free the exit the tab or just skip the chapter. I do not intend to belittle or demean any of your views. In fact, if you have an insight to share, please leave a comment, as you may enlighten another individual. This disclaimer applies to any chapter concerning a controversial topic from henceforth.

As every person has their own way of living, so too do they have their own unique understanding of how the world works. Personally, the world has always worked in strange ways for me. Any matter of joy that occurs would soon be followed by a matter of discontent. This works vice versa too. Existing concepts that are quite similar are: yin and yang, the law of equivalent exchange, karma, or even "every action is met with an equal and opposite reaction".

There exists, however, a difference between these concepts and my own idea of the workings of the universe-subjectivity. The reaction depends on how much happiness or sadness the initial action brought, assuming the action was carried out optimally. For instance, a beggar stealing only 100 dollars would bring him great joy, followed by a lengthy imprisonment, but a wealthy man gaining 100,000 dollars from tax evasion would hardly receive any punishment at all, because although he gained far more, it mattered far less to him. The wealthy man may stub his toe on a chair in the morning.

If this is the case, then why do some people get away with tax evasion while others don't? This again comes down to subjectivity; how much the matter meant to the person. The people who get busted for tax evasion are the people who care too much about their wealth, resulting in the joy they obtain from evading tax being greater, and the reaction from the world being greater as well.

As a result of this, I have gone through many periods of joy and many periods of sadness throughout my life. The reaction to certain events may not occur immediately, but after a length of time instead. *Note-stabbing yourself thinking "Oh something good must happen hur hur" doesn't work because then the hope you gain from stabbing yourself becomes the positive matter, while you being sent to the hospital becomes the negative one.

All things considered, this principle works out perfectly fine for the atheist person, but how about for the religious mind? This principle works out quite well actually. Jesus had to die on the cross before he could save everyone from their sins and later revive. The Buddha enlightened as a reaction to him spending a while with nothing other than what was necessary(this never worked for people afterwards, because they lived like the Buddha in hopes of achieving enlightenment-which resulted in nothing happening for the same reason that has already been explained). I could go on.

Continuing to speak at length about this topic would be akin to beating a dead horse, so I shall refrain from boring you to death.
