Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

By the time the maids finished dressing Alora, she looked different. Although it took a while to find a cloth of her size, she still looked as elegant as ever.

Her hair was up in a beautiful bun, decorated with diamond hair accessories. Her make up was simple and brought out her true beauty. No one could say that was the Alora they once knew.

"It is time already. They will be asking for your presence very soon." Ira helped her arrange the hem of her gown before giving her a fan which had the royal family's crest.

"But I don't know what to do." Alora frowned as Ira walked to the door, gesturing for her to follow her.

"It is a small ball with not up to twenty people because it was an impromptu ball. There would be no dancing, just crowning, introduction and dinner." Ira explained as they walked down the passage leading to the ballroom.

Alora looked outside and noticed the sun was setting already. They had spent hours and hours on the makeover, even though she couldn't believe she could sit for that long just in the name of a makeover, she sat for it.

"Welcome the new lady of Arran, Lady Alora."

"Come along. I'll lead you to your assigned seat. Remember the steps I taught you so be careful since it's your first time wearing a ball gown." Ira reminded her and she nodded gently before the door swung open and all eyes flew towards her direction.

Ira's words were not true at all that it was just going to be about twenty people. They were over twenty, almost about fifty and she could clearly see some eyes looking at her in disgust.

Ira led her to Ruger who was standing on the step leading to the throne behind him. The throne was the only one there and it was made of gold and rubies.

Ira whispered to her to bow before Ruger which she obediently did. "We all welcome the new lady to our midst in the Royal family. We are all here to witness the crowning of my beloved daughter, Alora."

A noble stepped forward with a silver crown in his hands. He bowed gently as he gave it to Ruger. Ruger gently took the crown and placed it carefully on Alora's hair.

"As from today, you'll be officially known as Lady Alora, the first lady." Ruger announced.

It was known to everyone that in Arran, if the wife of the first Lord dies, their daughter or first daughter would be the one to take the title first lady and act on behalf of her mother till she got married.

After she was crowned, Ruger introduced her to some of the guests before everyone was led to the dining room which was already arranged to fit all the amount of guests.

Alora sat on Ruger's right, opposite Zayen as Dean made a toast to her. It was the first time she was eating some of the dishes served to her but she just tried her best to eat the ones she already knew.

"You must be tired Alora. Zayen, why don't you lead her back to her room." Ruger said after they all finished eating dinner.

"Yes father." Zayen stood up and walked over to Alora to help her out of her chair.

Alora gently watched her steps as Zayen led her back to her room. She looked nervous being held by Zayen who was helping her take her steps.

When they got to her room, she immediately removed her shoes and took a deep breath. Those shoes were like hell.

"You've never worn shoes like that?" Zayen asked as he opened the door leading to the balcony.

"No. It's so uncomfortable." Alora groaned, making Zayen chuckle.

"Come over." He gestured at her and walked to the balcony. She followed obediently, pulling up her gown so she wouldn't step on it and trip.

"Wow, the sight of the forest is amazing from here." Alora gasped as she looked at the forest which looked beautiful with the moonlight spreading over the trees.

"Yeah." Zayen smiled. "So Alora, I didn't thank you for the other day that you healed me. I really appreciate it."

"Oh it's nothing my Lord." She smiled.

"Just call me Zayen." He said and she nodded. "I heard Ava is your best friend."

"Yes she is." Alora replied, removing the jewelry on her wrist and the earrings. "Why do you ask?"

"Nothing much." Zayen replied and Alora nodded.

"Excuse me my Lord, my lady. Your bath is ready my lady." A maid walked into the balcony with her head bowed.

"Okay. I'll be there now." Alora replied, giving her all she had removed from her dressing.

"I'll be taking my leave then. I haven't decided on your welcoming gift yet but I'll give you later." Zayen bowed.

"I don't need a gift." Alora smiled politely.

"Well that's because your gifts haven't been shown to you. Everyone is giving you a gift so I won't be an exception. Goodnight sister." Zayen smiled before walking out of the room.
