" What's happening," she asks, next the lights are flickering, and then they are out. I hear her gasping, and the her breathing syncs. The ship hits something again and this time, am off balance, landing on the floor and my back hits the tiled wall. I can only hear loud breathing from the other lady, she's probably on the floor too.
" Are you okay?" I ask. There is a silence, though we could hear the noise from the other side of the room.
" M-Mother..." She muttered, " is it you". She sounded frantic, her hand wandering about in the darkness. I took hold of then just to make her calm " Mother ..... stay with me" and then she hugged me, very tight. Her breathing still very fast. I patted her back until I felt her breathing steadying. There was a lot of noise on the other side of the door and I could tell how panicked people were, I could see light Ray's thru the crook of the door, it seemed like there were torches everywhere. And then a knock on the door, that startled both of us.
" Hey, anyone there!" A male voice called out. I took a deep breath and answered " Help us!" I called out, there was a rumbling of keys. And then the door burst open.
It wasn't long before we were back to our seats, being told not to crowd or converge. But the whispers were already clear enough for me to figure out. The ship had hit a huge sea rock, and practically, the weight was too much for it to hold out for too long.
But then, that wasn't my own fear, but something else, something worse.
" Captain, I told you, she shouldn't have boarded with us, she is bad luck."
" Yes, captain, that girl, you very well know what kind of omen she is. Yet you let her board your ship."
" So you mean, it's because of that girl?"
" Yes, I am, that girl, she must be the reason the ship is going to sink."
" Get her off, or else we will all die here.."
I could hear those old ladies wording me off. And I knew this would be the end. It wasn't long before I was walking to, I don't know, my room, my end ?. I managed to see the lady I met earlier in the bathroom, I didn't even ask her name. She was half conscious, her eyes half lidded struggling off her seat trying to reach out for me. But the nurse next to her asked her to stay back.I was led out to the shed of the ship, and whoever was inside was asking me to jump into the water, that I would be the sacrifice for their peace. The water waves were wild, it was like it would rain in that instant. It was unbelievably dark and angry. I was scared, really scared.
But then, if I died now, after people saying I was a sacrifice for their peace, I guess I will be free from the sleepless nights and bad dreams. I braced my self, closed my eyes and let my body walk to the end of the shed till I could feel the cold. I stepped forward and let go.
...
Let go....
I felt the cold water, and I let it into my throat. ..
...
I let go of this world. Hoping for a better start when I open my eyes.
