Chapter 9 - Meeting Alex 3

" Alexxx" Thank God. I managed to tear away my gaze from him, grateful someone interrupted. Who knew I would once be grateful to you his noisy friend of his.

We turn to look at him as he runs through the snowy compound to where we were, wearing a thick jacket and gloves. I distance myself from Alex, to breathe. As his friend draws near, he stops and stares at us, grinning.

" Don't tell me...." Alex throws a virtual stone to him.

" What is going on in your dirty mind." He jokes.

This friend of his is called Asheom, a former workmate of his, and also a former classmate in college if I got that info right. Asheom never keeps anything to himself.

" What brings you here?" Alex asks him. And he grins again. A handsome young man.

" Aleke..." He says, a nice nickname for Alex. " Tonight is our reunion party, Mark and his team are coming, with their partners. The whole Lions team will be at the bar, are you sure you won't be coming.." he stared hopefully at him.

Alex stayed nonchalant, only sighed. He then looked at me. " Irene, big sis prepared you food, you should eat and not risk missing your medicine, it's cold outside, it's better to stay in doors." Is he ignoring his friend? And it's he who brought me outside, and now,.... I look back at Asheom, he looks more surprised rather than hurt " Aleke, are you serious dumping me like this!," He sounds hurt, "for mysterious girl?" Why does he call me mysterious. Am not!

Alex looks at him for a millisecond and turns to me.

" Irene, time for your medicine.." and he aids me t the house, leaving Asheom there. Poor thing.

Minutes later, at the dining table, Asheom joins us, his face already lit up at the very moment he saw the food. He's quite a foodie. Dark brown hair, well tamed, trimmed eyebrows, light brown orbs, they are amorous, though dangerous. I can tell. He's got plump lips that make him look adorable, it's hard to tell his character just by his looks.

" Irene, .." Alex breaks the silence, "Rhiona and I had discussed. And we thought you could come to the city for the weekend."

" Huh? Why?" I ask as I gape up at him. He chuckles slightly at my expression.

" It's almost Christmas, you stay here by yourself all time. We were not planning on decorating this place and thought you would join the rest of the family for the season." He says with a find smile. What kind of house is not decorated on Christmas.

Why is he inviting me, they barely know me, and I don't know them either, it feels wierd. It's already 22nd. I was okay with the plain house, I have a feeling I don't deserve the decorated-family love thing at all.i don't understand myself.

" Come on, don't turn me down, am not used to it." He says whining, and I catch Asheom staring at us with a curious look. I look down on my plate.

" I..I " I breathe. " Okay...," I say finally, and I see Alex smile through the corner of my eye. I believe there is indeed a reason I was heading to the city, as Alex said, perhaps going there would answer the questions in my head, and the dreams I keep having.

" Okay!" He says enthusiastically as he drops his napkin on the table. " I'll get there car ready." He says making me surprised.

" We're leaving now?" I ask in disbelief.

" yes!" he gazes at me, beaming. "everybody is waiting for you, I thought this would be hard he says" Asheom keeps busy with his food, but he looks generally amused. Alex leaves the table almost hopping his way to the garage. This is crazy. I excuse myself to my bedroom, standing before the mirror.

I have this scar on my face that I don't know, I don't remember where and how I got it. I have this feeling, going to the city ain't so bad. I feel like if I don't go there, I might regret it.

Perhaps, this is my path and destiny. I have to be brave.
