Trying to escape a prison built to contain things twice as strong as you is haaard. You tried banging the door off it's hinges but the whole thing is an unrelenting pain. You had found a small rock in there and tried digging a hole with it, but the rock walls didn't even crack.
Eventually, two full days have passed and the only reason you know that is you having learned how to know the time based on how your body feels. By now, you are starving. This entire time you haven't eaten a bite. Your stomach feels like it is eating itself as it groans extremely loud. You should be somewhat used to this by now after all your training to be out in the wilderness with no food. But, then again, you had always managed to be a pretty successful hunter when it came to those tests.
You finally were at a point where you were just hugging your knees while sitting on that thin mat on that same, miserable plank of wood. Soon, Herobrine would come to check on you... Right?
You couldn't wait anymore. At this rate, by the time Herobrine shows up you will already be dead of hunger.
"Herobrine!! Come back! I- I'll do that task you wanted.. just please, I NEED FOOD!!" You shout, banging on the obsidian door. A sound you heard only once before zips behind you, and a solid white light shines harshly on your back. You hesitate to turn around, already knowing who it is.
"Really.. already? Hm, not so tough afterall." That same annoying voice as before smirks, you being able to hear that crooked smile over your shoulder. You finally turn to face the monster of a man. His bright eyes -- compared to the pitch black darkness you have adjusted to at least -- are nearly about just three to four blocks away. Too close for comfort in your opinion.
"Pff! No, just bored!" You deny quickly, using one of your hands to block your eyes from the beaming light.
"Noted." He said, no real emotion into that. "...Come on. Just follow me. I don't exactly want to waste any more energy teleporting you around the place. May as well get to know your new quarters anyways."
"Wait!" You interrupt hi as he walks past you to reach the door. He doesn't stop to let you speak, so you have to say what you need quickly. "I thought I was only doing a favor, o- or something! Not living wherever you are taking me!" You studder out.
"Ha. You actually thought I was being nice? No. You will be sleeping in this same room.. but most of your time will be spent in the Training Fields." He half laughed as he unlocked the door; opening it right after. Your eyes slam shut as a flood of bright yellow light floods into the room. It is almost as if you have been hit on the head, the light is so sudden. "Hhhh, forgot you humans are so sensitive to light." Herobrine mumbles, grabbing your shoulder and forcing you out of the room. You stumble, sticking your arms out but not touching any walls. You try to open your eyes again but the only thing you can see is a wall of super novas. "Ugh. Remind me to put a torch in your quarters." Herobrine growls. He harshly grabs your left shoulder again and guides you along, not sounding impressed in the slightest when you stumble a little and peep when you think you are about to fall. You have no idea where you are going. You could be walking along a bridge surrounded in lava for all you know!.. Of course, the air around you doesn't feel really hot, actually, a welcoming warmpth compared to your "room."
A couple embarassing minutes pass, when finally your eyes adjust and you can take a good look of the area you have been walking through for the past minute or so. Unlike what you were expecting, you see you are in a somewhat fancy hallway. The walls are dark Netherrack, and there is red, nicely patterned carpet along the floor. The hallway is also decently large -- being about seven to nine blocks wide, and maybe twice that height tall. You don't have much time to count the exact size however. The large hallway you walk through branches off into many others, some the same size and others smaller. You look down one of the smaller hallways as you pass by, seeing it branch off into even smaller halls, as well as several doorways. The larger ones you see also branch off into either the same size, or smaller halls. You see right away that this place is an absolute maze!
"I can make a trail of some kind leading to your quarters until you memorize the path if it gets too confusing." Herobrine offers. 'Wait, did he?-' "Just like in the stories, yes, I can read your mind. Now don't make it such a big deal. It gets annoying when people do that." Herobrine huffs, finally taking notice that you can actually see properly again. With that new knowledge, he picks up his pace, pulling you further along. Wait! Why are you following him anyways?! Sure, that deal thing. But that was only so you could escape once out. You guess you will have to wait for the right opening, and also hope Herobrine isn't reading your mind twenty-four seven. Luckily, Herobrine doesn't seem to react to your plan as you think, giving you hope that there is a way out of here.
"...Soooo, what exactly am I going to be doing? Because, if it has anything to do with killing, especially other humans, I would never agree to that." You lay down the rules that have been the main reason for your non cooperation for the past couple days.
"You won't have to worry about that. I am giving you a simple job. I just want you to help train my army, nothing more, nothing less."
"That doesn't sound like a small favor."
"I never said 'a small favor.' I said 'a little job,' which for someone I am placing in such a high position, is exactly that." You finally hear him smile smugly over his shoulder. His hand is finally off yours, and you walk behind him, taking big steps just to keep up.
"Hold up. So, what is my job again? I, am?.. training the enemy?" Your face contorts in disapproval.
"Pretty much."
"But- but-"
"But your family will be the ones to pay if you disagree in any way.. Got it?" He to stops both him and you at once, making sure you know the severity of the bargain you are stuck in. You gulp, hard -- now knowing your own family is in trouble if you say no, or escape, or kick him in the groin again. Any of that, would be seen as you disagreeing. And you didn't want to have to deal with those consequences. You nod slowly. "Good! Glad to know we are both on the same page." He claps his hands together, content with the agreement. "Guess I may as well break down the plan then." Herobrine says as he continues walking off again with you not far behind, more to his right than directly behind. "The Training Fields is where you will be most of the time. There, my soldiers train, and are ranked according to skill level. Since I hear you are so good at fighting and judging according to skill, it should be easy for you to be the main decider for who goes in which group. From there you will train them, or assign the right trainer to those you don't have time for. I will watch over your shoulder closely the first few times you do this, until I know you have everything under control. Hopefully, I can trust you won't try turning anyone against me. My special sword is especially dull after so many battles, and I would hate to have to use it on those you love." He threatens, again! You both shiver by it, and wonder why so many threats in so little time, at the same time.
"..A- alright.. No problem." You respond quietly. But there is still one big problem you know you will have to face sooner or later. Something less about escaping and more about the armies themselves. They are monsters. You don't know how to communicate with them, much less train them!
"Soon enough you will find that the things you have been calling monsters your whole life are much closer to humans than you and the rest of your human kind could ever admit." Herobrine speaks. You just look up at him as his sight is fixed ahead, wondering what exactly he means by that. Can they speak English like you? Looks like you are going to find out.
Finally, you step out into a large open area. You look up to see the tall sciling of the Nether in form or jagged spikes above you. It looks as if you are in a large cove-like area. A lava sea in the distance radiates an uncomfortable ammount of heat you know you are just going to have to get used to. When Herobrine said Training Fields, he really did mean Training, Fields. Outstretched around you, from the tunnel in which you appeared, which was dug into a Netherrack wall, is a massive flat area of almost nothing but Nether-brick floors, dotted with barrels and wracks of weapons of all kinds; mostly stone swords. You stare in awe as you see that already there is one massive organized crowd of wither skeletons, normal skeletons, zombies, endermen, husks, strays, zombie pigmen, etc, all going through memorized formations. All the monsters you have only seen in their own respective biomes, now here, all in on group just fascinates you for some reason. The wither skeleton with his bones showing a few fancy gold decorating on them -- like tattoos -- who was the one leading the army, suddenly stopped and stood at attention in front of Herobrine. All the monsters behind him followed suit, a couple way far in the back wobbling a little. You think you even see one stumble onto their bum before quickly jumping back to it's feet.
"Lord Herobrine, is this general (Y/n) of whom I presume it to be?" The leading wither skeleton asks.
"Not quite yet. Right now she is only a leader in training. (Y/n)," He then turns to you. "I forgot to mention this, but you will first be given a small practice group of up to ten. Your first job here will be to train them and get to know generally how things are different here compared to what you are used to. It's only a small group so, if you screw up, at least you won't have failed everyone." Herobrine says, probably only confusing you a little more with thst insult.. sort of insult. You shrug it off quickly, however, honestly not caring about what he said to you. He would soon regreat ever taking youl... someday. Don't think for a moment that you have already given up you dreams of escaping someday. They are still just as strong as ever.
Herobrine hands you a couple loafs to scorf down as he faces the crowd of mobs direcrly, showing you by example how one separates the large group into many smaller ones all based on skill. You happily eat the bread you were given as you watch. He sort of systematically commands for a specific section of the large mass to go through some basic fighting movements, which slowly get harder. You recognize most of which movements, but several of them are different, due to some past style choices. You can tell right away just by looking at the drills that their strategies are much more offensive, compared to the usual defensive fighting you were taught. You watch as it is almost humiliating to or the monsters who get it wrong, and are told to leave the crowd over to their right, where slowly a group of the under skilled ones are gathering. It is the complete opposite when the ones especially fast and obviously well trained are asked to step to the slowly building up group to their left. By the end, there are three evenly sized masses of monsters. All the closer to average ones just bundling together in the middle. Herobrine tells you again to watch what he does as he leads by example; assigning those especially skilled and showing good leadership qualities to be put in charge of certain teams, each team with approximately eleven members counting their leaders.
Oh yeah.. by the way, THE MONSTERS FREAKIN' SPEAK ENGLISH! You sort of saw it coming, but, still. Wow. You don't pay too much attention to the creatures as individuals, but it almost seems like they even have different personalities and such, at least the ones in the background who don't have a terrifying overlord looking over them.
It has been about an hour of just following Herobrine around as he does things you are supposed to be taking note of, when suddenly he turns to you, finally done.
"There. Got all that?" He asks. You snap your brain on and look around, nod, and continue looking around, hoping he will explain everything he had done later. "Okay. Your team is right over here." Herobrine says with a straight face as he turns to a slightly smaller group huddled near a weapon wrack. It looks like there are only eight of them in all. The group consists of: three pigmen, two skeletons, one normal zombie and one enderman.. as well as a strange robed figure you can't quite identify just yet. Looking at them all, they look like the kind of crew you were expecting to get. None of them looked the strongest, or the toughest. The single enderman looked like it might be a skinnier than average female, while the two skeletons waked eachother around like the typical "bone heads," you see in kids' shows. The only zombie there looked over weight, and was already panting hard from that basic exercise from before. The three pigmen looked like background characters in a movie; nothing interesting about any of them. In fact, they all three looked identical! And the robed figure?. Well, he, she, or whoever, stands facing away from you, talking with the enderman. All the other groups you also see conversing within themselves, probably having been told to socialize. Ugh.. Turns out it's a real struggle to keep yourself from punching things you have been raised to hate. You imagine having a real lard time with this team right here, hoping you can manage to keep yourself from breaking into fight mode. You need to keep it calm.. for now.
"H- Herobrine?! The enderman, correction: enderwoman, squeals when it is the first to see the one escorting you come close. Everyone else quickly turns to him and bows, squeals, drops looking dead, jumps up and down, and whatever you see that odd group doing. Their attention then turns to you and smiles drop on all faces. The cloaked figure even turns to you, their face shrouded in shadows made by the hood.
"Everyone. You are team 2C, and (Y/n) here is your Leader In Training." Herobrine walks up to the disappointed group while explaining. Some frowns shrink while others grow.
"Ugh! Another human?! How come this one doesn't have to prove themselves loyal?!" The robed figure snaps at you mostly. Their voice is, feminine, much more than you had expected. "Like, c'mon, I thought I was special there for a moment!" She then pulls down her hood to reveal that she herself is a human, which sends you into a mild state of shock. This human girl looks neither older nor younger than you. She has blond hair, which has mostly been dyed black but shows it's true color at the roots. Her outfit is, well, a black robe, and she looks much less trained and exercised compared to you. Not that she is fat or anything, on the contrary. She is pretty skinny, with very little to call actual muscle. To be here, and alive, however, she must be deceptively strong though. You notice the usually stiff and cold hearted god of destruction or whatever, appear to brighten up once the girl's hood is up. You can't identify exactly what about him has suddenly changed, but you can tell there is a slight difference in mannerisms.
"My apologies for the confusion, Sandrah. This is (Y/n). She is new; arrived just a couple days after you volunteered. (Y/n) here will be specializing in training future recruits, while you can keep all the missions to yourself." Herobrine speaks to her kindly. A kindness which honestly surprises you.
"Yess." Sandrah whispers to herself with the win.
"Well, I will be checking in on you guys shortly. (Y/n), remember, your goal is to train these eight." Herobrine reminds you. You huff, while everyone waves him a goodbye, before he completely vanishes.
"-Hey, (Y/n)!" Sandrah speaks up sharply. "What do you want, to kick me out of the record of being the first human on Herobrine's side? To spy on us? To take Herobrine for yourself?!" She asks the last one as she litely shoves you. Alright, you've had enough! You push the girl back hard so that she falls onto the geound. You stand straighter and look around at everyone like your Commander In Chief always used to do.
"Listen, you little brats! I don't want to be here, so don't bother me about that! I happen to be well taught in military training, so I know how order is supposed to work. I have also learned five different styles of fighting, so don't think I am some weakling either! If you want to get through the day without a punch to the gut, then I suggest you all listen up and hand me some respect, because I will take it myself if needed." You command as you one by one stare down every single member of the group of misfits. All of them right away know you mean business, just as you had hoped, and stood straight. That Sandrah, however. Though she was clearly understanding you meant business, you can still see that same rebellious glare in her eyes. Looking over every one of them, none of them truly trust or respect you yet either. That must be earned. Something you don't really want to have to go through the effort of doing. Hhhhh. This is going to be a difficult, and interesting group for sure.
