Arya watched in wonder as the tears streamed down Amaris' face. His tears pooled at the rim of his eyes and made their way from his beautiful blue eyes to the ground giving the illusion of a river flowing seamlessly through a forest.
Drip…Drip!
If anyone ever told her she was going to be in this situation today, then she'd have flung a shoe at their face but here she was, standing before a beast that was shedding tears.
The culprit?....Her!
Could anyone tell her why this big man was crying?
What Arya didn't know was that Amaris had learnt this skill from her. At her school, when the security asked for her name, she cried bitterly in a bid to avoid his question and also not to get caught.
Amaris couldn't see their interaction at the time but he could hear them vividly and judging from the emotions he felt radiating from Arya, she wasn't the least bit sad or scared but rather calculating and a little pleased?
He didn't understand why she did that then but now he knew it clearly- crying to gain sympathy. It was the perfect plan.
Although Amaris was not from Earth he had good adaptive skills and had quickly mimicked Arya's excellent acting, even raising the standards by two times.
'These humans are really clever. They can cry to get what they want easily!' Amaris thought as he continued to let water flow through his beautiful blue eyes, down his cheeks and onto the ground, forgetting that a lot of the wolf maidens used this same trick on him severally back at Luna Kingdom.
"Why are you crying?" Arya asked, a bit gob smacked by the whole thing.
Amaris who had adequately replicated Arya's crying talent faltered badly at this point.
"I…really want…to s-see my…grandma." He sobbed, quickly breaking the illusion of his perfect acting, sorry…crying.
Arya, shocked at the words that came out of Amaris's mouth wondered with her mouth slightly open why he suddenly wanted to see his grandma when realization hit her.
Those were the exact words she said to the security so she could 'yeet' herself from school and now this beast was using it against her?
Oh the nerve!…
Arya was about to go all out and slam Amaris's poor "good" acting skills in his face when she heard the voice of someone that she didn't want out here right now.
"You want to see your grandma? Child, are you lost?"
Arya with eyes almost wider than a sauce pan turned around to see her Nana walking out through their gate towards her.
Clad in a pretty green flower dress that reached her ankles, she adjusted the scarf that hung around her neck and flung the left side over her right shoulder. Her chestnut brown hair that had little streaks of gray hair was packed neatly with a ribbon.
She was of the average height and if not for the little streaks of gray hair, she looked nothing like a grandma. At least that's what Amaris thought before Arya blocked his view with her midnight black hair.
"Grandma! What are you doing here?" Arya asked as she stretched both arms out trying to hide Amaris behind her.
"What do you mean Ary? I live here, don't I?" Arya's Nana asked as she walked to stop right in front of her granddaughter who was trying to hide such a tall man behind her dainty self.
Her simple question, however successfully shut her granddaughter up for the first time, which surprised her as Arya always had something to say in every situation.
Watching Arya suddenly become lost for words, she tilted her head to the side to catch a glimpse of the boy she saw crying just now behind her granddaughter.
"Child, why are you crying?" Arya's grandma directed the question to Amaris this time.
"Did this brat bully you?" she asked again as she pointed to her granddaughter, shocking everyone present, except herself of course.
"Nana! How could you think I'd bully someone?!" Arya yelled disapprovingly with a drop of her arms.
"Why won't I think so? You come home later than usual but also with a crying boy! So what do you expect me to think?" Her grandma asked with a fold of her arms, throwing her previous elegance into the wind.
"Isn't it the girl that cries when she and a boy comes home late because she doesn't want him to leave? So why is it the other way round in your case?" Arya's grandma asked again inciting a blush to grow on Arya's cheeks all the way to her neck.
"Oh my God! Nana." Arya couldn't believe her grandmother just said that.
She wasn't always like this so Arya couldn't point out why she was so excited today. But from her previous question, Arya deduced that her Nana probably thought she was dating Amaris and that was the reason for her being late.
Intending to correct her grandmother's very very insanely wrong impression of Amaris, Arya made to talk but her Nana didn't want to keep arguing and just directly pulled her out of the way.
"My dear, tell me. Why are you crying?" Arya's grandma asked as soon as she got a full view of Amaris again.
The more she looked at him, the more she felt he looked easy on the eyes.
'Oh, such a handsome young lad.' She thought.
Meanwhile Amaris's tears had long since dried up as he watched the interaction between Arya and her grandmother.
It was a very heartwarming one and he hadn't seen anything like it throughout his years, not even his mother wolf had such an interaction with him.
Arya's grandmother's concern for him was really solacing and he was truly moved to tears this time.
When Arya's grandma noticed Amaris's eyes were red again she quickly held his palm and started to guide him into the house.
"I don't know what happened or what my granddaughter has done but you're coming with me." Nana said ignoring Arya who was already at her wits end.
She watched as her grandmother dragged a beast into their house, leaving her, her only granddaughter outside.
'When would she stop being surprised today? Was it when she died of a heartattack?!' Arya thought as she gazed at the sky with tears in her eyes before she dragged her fuddled self and bag into the house.
Arya's house,
Weren't grandmothers supposed to protect their granddaughters from boys and even send them far away if they ever saw them with one?
So why was her Nana doing the complete opposite?
Arya thought as she sat in their living room and watched her grandmother revolve around Amaris like a butterfly fluttering around a flower.
Offering him drinks, snacks, food, everything she could possibly get her hands on. With how things were going, Arya was sure that she would have offered Amaris their house if she could.
Thinking about Amaris, she focused her quartz coloured eyes on him and squinted them.
Somewhere, she wondered if he was enjoying everything because his motive from the get go was to stay at her place till he found his way back home. Was he happy that he had almost achieved his aim?
'I mean he didn't even try to clear her grandmother's misunderstanding about them dating!' Arya thought feeling slightly indignant.
What Arya didn't know was Amaris didn't even get to hear her grandmother's comment about them dating as he was enveloped with pink bubbles of heartwarming affection at the time.
And even if he did hear what she said, he would properly be confused as he hadn't a clue about dating.
Amaris who was currently being attended by Nana could feel Arya's gaze on him. As he tried to read her emotions, he sensed discontentment oozing from where she sat.
Why though? Did he do something to make her feel that way?
He too was shocked and confused about the strange development. He hadn't even said a word and he was already dragged in here.
Although, he knew that somewhere deep down he really wouldn't mind given the opportunity to stay here.
He was brought out of his reverie by Arya's grandmother who asked him a question he didn't seem to get.
"Uhm.." he replied to the expectant Nana who was eagerly waiting for a reply.
"I asked what flavor of juice you wanted, my dear. Why are you so out of it? Are you okay?" Arya's grandma patiently asked again as she placed her palm on Amaris's forehead earning a scoff from her granddaughter.
"Uh, any one is f-fine ma'am." Amaris stuttered.
"Alright I'll get that that for you later but what I want to know is how you met my granddaughter. And it's Laura. You can cal me Laura."
"Okay ma'am, I mean Ms. Laura." Amaris corrected.
"He's nobody and he's also leaving right now." Arya commented at the side, earning a glare from her Nana successfully shutting her up.
"I believe he can speak for himself. Am I right…" Nana drawled gazing at Amaris waiting for him to introduce herself.
"Oh, I'm sorry ma…Ms. Laura. My name is Amaris. Amaris Lun." Amaris quickly said, a bit hesitant as he didn't trust anyone apart from Arya at this point.
Arya's grandmother's eyes twinkled when she heard Amaris's name but this went unnoticed by the indignant Arya and the nervous Amaris.
"I met your daughter at her school. We met for the first time today." Amaris started.
