Chapter 11 - Ferd don’t just stare

"We're here", the muffled voice says before I feel a cold wind pass over my skin causing me to shiver. Only when I feel a heavy hand on my shoulder shaking me do I realize that at some point in the drive I had fallen asleep. Which is quite ironic since it's not even nine o'clock in the morning yet.

Jason hands me a small velvet box and when I open it, I see a pair of contacts. I had been so distracted by everything that I hadn't even realized that I could hardly see much of anything.

Without hesitation I put them in, and the door opens from beside me, I can see Jason clearly this time.

I don't say anything, but I silently leave the vehicle and once I'm outside I take a really good look at the building in front of me.

"You have got to be kidding me", both Vic and Jace seems amused by my disbelief as my eyes devour the entire infrastructure of the building in front of us.

The building in its completion is practically smaller than my entire room back in America. That's not ever the worst part either. A further observance of my surroundings tells me we are practically out here in the middle of nowhere with no signs of electricity or Wi-Fi and my phone battery just reached forty two percent.

We were far away from the city. No sign of life anywhere except for empty grassland and trees and the small, dilapidated building in front of us.

"Relax", Victor encourages as he walks up towards the small building that looks like it could just topple over any second, "don't knock it till you try it".

"Shut up", I mutter under my breath they grab my bags and begin walking up towards the small house.

The second I was standing on the floorboards it made very discouraging creaking noise that had me scurrying backwards for my safety but instead slamming into Victor's gladiator chest.

He only rolled his eyes as he and Jason walked pass me and went inside the door that was already open, which I totally find suspicious.

What surprised me though was that the inside was actually way bigger than the outside. What surprised me even more was that inside was even less impressive than the outside of the building. There was a lot of broken boards and furniture and let's not forget the cobwebs. Basically, this place looked like no one has been here in the past decade.

I didn't completely trust these guys I would've thought they brought me here to kill me.

Pursing my lips, I continued to look around me with disapproval, "Are you both sure that we are in the right place?".

Before either of them could answer the bookcase on the wall to the left began the move. Me being me, naturally let out a little squeal as I jumped to stand behind Jason.

Luckily none of them seemed to have the time mock my reaction for once. Suddenly quick steps were being made towards us before there was a loud squeal that rivalled the one, I had made a few seconds away.

"You're here!", an all too familiar voice said, "where is he?".

Dread settled into all my body cells the moment Jason and Victor parted from in front of me like the red sea and lo and behold in front of me stood Celeste.

Before I could even react, she was on me. Her legs wrapped around my waist and her arms wounded around my neck in a vice like grip that knocked the air out of my lungs.

My eyes widened in shock but somehow, I managed to hesitantly wrap my hand loosely around her waist. I wouldn't reacted differently if she was heavy, but this girl was as light as a feather.

I hope she's not as weird as I remember.

When she buried her nose in the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply, I felt my entire body go rigid but even then, I didn't miss the snicker that Victor let out at my expense or Jason's bemused expression.

So, she's definitely still weird.

I was brought back to the girl that still hadn't loosened her hold on me as yet.

"Julian", she murmured, "I can't believe it's been two years".

Me either, not nearly long enough.

A strangled noise of protest passed my throat, but she either didn't notice or didn't care.

"I am so glad that you're here", she began to pull away so she could look me in the face. I immediately managed to soften my expression as bit. I only hoped that it didn't appear as if I was grimacing. Because I was grimacing on the inside.

"You'll have time for plenty of that later", Victor's voice interrupted. I shot him a glare. 'You'll have time for plenty of that later', I mimicked him in my head, not if I can help it.

Nevertheless, Victor had managed to get Celeste to unlink her claws from me, so I had that to thank him for. As soon as there was a good three feet distance between us and the drama had passed, my ability to speak made a phenomenal recovery.

I took a tentative step toward my bodyguards, but my eyes were on her the entire time, "What are you doing here Celeste? I finally asked".

Her eyes glanced from Vick to Jace, and she seemed genuinely confused by my question. Which made me wonder what the two pricks were hiding from me this time.

"They didn't tell you?".

My face remained blank at her question.

"Well," she clapped both hands together, "you'll find out soon enough".

As soon as she turned around in the direction from which she came I shot another withering glare at the douchebags behind me.

Instead of defending themselves or explaining themselves the two idiots rushed after Celeste with my bags in their hands while I stood there mentally cursing this whole situation.

This was gonna be one interesting trip. Of that, I was sure.
