The second I opened my eyes I was looking into rich blue eyes that I calculated to be at least three inches from my face.
"Are you awake", the guy asks.
His voice is not loud but it gives rise to a headache that threatens to make my eyes rollback with it's intensity.
I try to talk but the dryness in my throat won't allow it. The guy reaches for a glass of water and helps me to drink it. I don't complain since the slightest movements I make seems to amplify my headache.
"Solace how are you feeling", he asks almost immediately.
When I don't reply he begins to look at me quizzically.
"Solace?", He calls that name again. Since we're apparently the only two in the room I'm assuming that he is talking to me.
"Who is Solace?", I asked confused, "I am Julian Descartes".
He stands abruptly and looks down at me with the utmost concentration.
"What do you mean who is Solace?", He asks quickly, "and why are you using your French accent again. You can't let anyone hear you talking like that. They will figure out your secret".
Whatever he says only serves to confuse me more, "Listen, I don't know who you are or what you're talking about. I don't even know how I got here".
"I'm going to go get the doctor", the strange tall guy says a few moments later as he leaves the room.
The pain inside my head begins to dull down after a while before the door opens again revealing the same guy from before and a doctor.
"I'm Doctor Patrick. How are you feeling Solace?", the doctor moves closer towards me with a small flashlight in his hands.
"Look I don't know who you think I am but-", I begin to say but the tall guy cuts me off.
"Just finish checking up on him doctor and tell me what's wrong with him".
"Your cousin suffered a concussion", Doctor Patrick says after he finished analyzing me and asking me a ton of questions, "he appears to be showing symptoms of amnesia. There's no need to worry too much since he did suffer a trauma to the head. Based on the results from the brain scans I did expect this, Solace will be a bit out of it for the next few days but I predict he will make a full recovery in the next week or so".
The guy sighed in relief, "So when can he go home?".
"I'd recommend he stays in the hospital for the next two days for observation before we discharge him just to be safe".
"Of course,".
"I need to talk to you outside Victor", the doctor says before the two leave the room.
In under a minute the door is opened again and a blonde dude and a brunette girl walks in. I'm totally not in the mood to handle anymore strangers right now until the girl rushes to my side, and I recognize her.
"Celeste!", I nearly shout her name in joy, "you need to get me out of here or call my father. These people are crazy".
"You remember her?", The blonde asks, "do you remember me?".
I look at him but come up with a blank, I don't know any Americans.
"Am I supposed to", I say instead, "we've never met before, besides Celeste is my girlfriend".
They both look at each other with wide eyes before starting back at me.
"Julian", Celeste says cautiously and it's good to be called by my actual name for once, "how old are you?".
It's a strange question and I give her a weird look before I answer her, "I'm fourteen".
An eerie silence settles in the room after I answer her and both of their faces go pale.
Did I say something wrong?
They both share a look as if I did indeed say something wrong and I'm sure they were about to explain before the doctor entered the room again with the same guy from before.
**************
"So your name is Victor", I say to the blue eyed guy then I turn to the blonde, "and you are Jason".
They both nod.
I reach out for Celeste's hand who is standing beside my bed, and I motion for her to sit on the bed where I'm laying down.
No one has really explained much, all they told me was that I am in America. Apparently I thought it'd be fun to go to school here. Unbelievable. I was in the hospital because I was pushed and nearly cracked my skull. They say I have amnesia, but no one wants to say anything more than that and I don't know why.
I take the information they are willing to give me, and I begin to process it. My headache had simmered down a bit now making way for emotions to fully unfurl in my mind.
"So, you say I was pushed?", I asked and they nodded, "on purpose?".
They nodded again.
That revelation had me stirring with unimaginable bounds of anger.
Why would someone push me like that? Strong enough to give me a concussion…
What could I have done to anyone for them to do that to me?
I closed my eyes for a bit, "Whoever did this to me I want them punished", they seemed surprised by the amount of malice in my voice, "first I'm suing them for assault, I demand a restraining order and I expect that they will pay my hospital bill and any other expense that may arise from my injury".
They all looked at me as if they were taken aback by my demands.
"Of course, we will do whatever you want Julian but are you sure", Victor was the one who asked this.
"I could've died Victor", my accented words seemed to negate the severity of my words, "I want to make whoever did this to me, pay".
