Chapter 8 - Ferd don’t lose your cool

My eyes narrowed at Mario who was holding a large bucket in one hand with Luigi standing on his left and both of them laughing their asses off. The idiots drenched my entire body in soapy water.

I let out a sigh as both of my bodyguards ran over to my side.

"Solace are you okay?", Jason asked, and I only narrowed my eyes causing some of the soapy water running down my face to go into my eyes and that's when I realized that my contacts had fallen out.

Vick placed a hand on my shoulder pulling me behind him. "Go over there", he pointed to where some other people who were washing cars were standing.

Nodding, I shot Mario a death glare before I left. Gladly let my bodyguards deal with those two pricks. I wasn't completely blind without my contacts. I was farsighted so I saw far away objects well enough, it's the near ones that gives me problems.

Gosh! I hated Mario and his stupid brother. The soap on my clothes now made it feel slimy and gross against my skin. Every time I walked it felt nastier and nastier.

Finally, I decided to just peel the shirt off of my body. I rang some of the water out of it before using the shirt to wipe my face.

I shouldn't have come out here in the first place.

I really hate Mario.

When I got to the spot Victor had directed me to I threw the shirt over one of my shoulders and proceeded to washing the car that Jason had been washing using the things that were already there. I just wanted to get this over with and then go home. I was almost done washing the car when I started noticing a few of the other dancers on Ari's squad staring at me.

They probably all saw Mario dump the water on me and thought it was funny.

Which was strange because nobody was laughing. Shrugging it off I continued until I heard a voice calling my name from across the parking lot.

I could see Nicole from over the top of the car in front of me. She was the first familiar person I saw in this huge parking lot the entire time I've been here

"Solace", she greeted, and I smiled back at her. This time it wasn't sarcastic since I was glad to see someone who wasn't looking at me weirdly.

The closer she came the blurrier my vision got without my contacts in. The second she was in front of me she suddenly stopped, her eyes then drifted down my entire figure then quickly back up again.

No doubt she was trying not to laugh when she saw that I was soaked from head to toe.

Her cheeks flushed a bright red, but she never looked away.

"You have a really nice bod- watch. I meant watch. You have a new watch".

Uh, okay?

"Thanks, I guess", l laughed awkwardly as I scratched the back of my neck causing a lock of my hair to flop over unto my forehead, "Mario decided to dunk me with soapy water. Good thing the watch is waterproof, huh?".

This was getting more awkward by the moment I was starting to wonder why she approached me in the first place.

She smiled widely at me as if she was in a daze. Probably daydreaming of better things to do than talking with me. It surprised me however when she reached out her small hand to move back my hair from my forehead.

"Sorry", she mumbled taking a step back.

I was about to tell her it was cool but someone else spoke before I could.

"I thought you had a meeting with the debate club after school", Delilah's unmistakable voice said sweetly, popping up out of nowhere.

"Delilah", Nicole's voice deadpanned, "it's always such a pleasure to see you".

She didn't sound pleased though, not in the least.

"What are you doing here?", Delilah fired back.

"It's a free school, last time I checked you didn't own the parking lot".

I narrowed my eyes more as I tried to follow the interaction between the two, but my eyes were already threatening to go out of focus like bad camera lens.

Delilah's eyes narrowed at Nicole. It felt as if these two were longtime enemies and I was being caught in the middle of what was about to become an all-out war.

I could feel the tension in the air between these two and I sort of noticed before but could tell that these girls definitely knew each other. It was the same as the night I had first met Delilah.

"Hey girls? What's going on", I asked as cautiously as possible.

Neither of them answered or even looked at me.

"Stay away from him", Delilah warned as she took a step closer to me she was so close in fact that our sides were pressed up against each other.

Something was definitely up between these two girls and whatever it is, it must've been a long feud and I'm not so sure that I want to find out.

"What are you gonna do if I don't", Nicole said smugly.

The last thing I wanted was for them to fight especially if it had something to do with me.

I barely had enough time to react before Delilah was lounging for Nicole. I caught her just before she could do any real danger though, my arms wrapped around her waist separating her from Nicole who had taken a massive leap backward out of what I assume was pure instinct.

Nicole seemed a bit frightened, and I motion for her to leave which she does. That didn't stop Delilah from struggling though and she was now drawing a lot of attention towards us.

As soon as I look up, I make eye contact with my bodyguards who were no longer with the two losers from before. I shoot Jace and Vick a look to not follow us before throwing Delilah over my shoulder and walking back towards the building. She was a lot lighter than I expected.

I walk back to the school doors and go inside, no one else seemed to be around.

"Who the hell does she think she is!", Delilah snarled, outraged as I set her down unto her feet again. "Why is she doing this now?".

I had no idea what she was talking about.

I placed both of my hands on her shoulders trying to calm her down, but she refuses to make any eye contact and her body was slightly trembling.

"Hey, look at me", my voice was calm. "Why don't you tell me what happened?".

She grumbled, "Nicole is what happened".

That didn't help to clear up my confusion one bit.

"But why did you almost attack her like that?".

"Because she is after you!", her voice was basically in a duh tone.

"She's after me?", I asked rhetorically, "that's ridiculous. And even if she was, that still doesn't explain your behavior".

She sighed and slumped her shoulders leaning aimlessly against the wall before her eyes contact mine. What she would say next completely shocked me to the core.

"It's because I like you Ferd and Nicole knows that. I've liked you for a really long time. And now that I've finally got the chance to do something about it. I am not gonna let anyone get in the way".
