Yoona's P.O.V.
Location: Hana-Puellaweo City -Abandoned Area (D46)
Night time
Weather condition: Rainy
. . .
The sky is upset again. It makes it hard for my legs to keep running. Each step wets my skirt caused by the splash of rainwater from the ground. Some would end up reaching my eyes.
I kept looking back even though I shouldn't have to. But what can I do? I'm being chased after by armed men who work for MedExpert, a famous medical facility that joined forces with the Hawks, the military. This misfortune I am facing did not only just begun in the middle of the night. I've been running my whole life.
The road is too dark, too. I would only stop scurrying away if I either fell off the cliff or I would successfully make them lost sight of me.
What have I done to get in this situation? Well, of course, it's because I stole what that guy needs for personal reasons. He insisted not to tell me anything about it though. However, I failed not to leave any suspicion.
"You! Stop right there!" A deep voice echoed within the deserted district. Their statement won't keep a person from running away. I'm a runner after all. What a bunch of idiots.
"She's getting away!"
I cursed under my breath and hurriedly went to my left. I don't want to lead these soldiers where our base is hiding. I have to make sure they lose sight of me, but it won't be that simple if I'm going to do this by my own.
Speaking of which, where is he? He's supposed to back me up while I was copying the file from the worn-out lab. The gadget he gave me for our communication can't even reach him from here. I have lost his signal when they caught me.
"Damn it!"
Another turn.
The longer I run, the harder it gets to escape. I haven't memorized this area at all. So, it feels like I'm stuck inside a labyrinth. My legs are turning numb from the cold...I want to rest—
But first, I have to hide.
If I get caught before I even get back to our base, I'm screwed.
I saw a narrow path by my right before sprinting my way through there. Then suddenly, something hissed and exploded behind me. Thick mists that I have not seen before starts to crawl towards my way. It barely blocked my sight. I guess I am lucky enough that I've managed to create a huge distance away from them.
Another one exploded, but this time it has hit right on my face. I coughed and cursed loudly when I inhaled the smoke. It smells so fucking bad that makes me wanna throw up.
Who has been throwing smoke bombs?!
"Could it be..."
THAT BASTARD.
[Y—Yh.....Yoo.....Yoona. Kim Yoona—]
A static voice called my name. It seems that the device is finally trying to get the signal. Which means the base is getting nearby. I must lead them somewhere else, or there will be a chance they'll raid our place.
I won't let that happen.
I traced my ear with my finger to search for the communication gadget before pressing it.
"Hey—I'm being tailed here. I couldn't find the escape route. Where the fuck are you?!"
I tried to lower my voice the best I can as I almost tripped on tin cans. The bombs aren't helping me at all. I couldn't refrain from screaming whenever it almost hit me and affect my eyes.
"Are you throwing those bombs?!"
Another blew up in front of me, covering my sight once again. I still ran through all that smoke as I cough it out. At this rate, all this coughing might trigger my seizure. Where are these bombs supposed to land?!
[If they were mine, you would be coughing blood by now.] He explained.
Now I know it wasn't his doing. I couldn't understand him sometimes. Why would I be teaming up with a prick like him? This thought is making me regret my choices.
I quickly took a glance behind me through the smoke as I saw a glimpse of those armed men running after me. I saw them throwing something, which is now an obvious answer to my question.
They were the ones throwing those smoke bombs all along. They are just using it in an attempt to block my way out.
"Right—just where are you?"
I took another turn. I'm finally getting out from the narrow alley of smoke bombs as soon as I found the exit.
[Aha...I can see you from here.]
I stopped to catch my breath as small puffs of smoke escape from my lips. I coughed as I searched around where that guy was idly standing. Unfortunately, he's nowhere to be seen.
"Where...Where the hell are you?!"
Before I could run again, I heard a gunshot. I stumbled on the ground with a puddle of rainwater as I ended up tasting the dirt mixed in it. In my disgust, I spitted it out before I could gulp it down.
I winced in pain and struggled. That's when I realized I got shot on my left calf.
They got me. That's so stupid of me. I carefully rolled around to check on my leg. What type of gun did those guys use on me? I couldn't move it...it's paralyzed.
[Ah, I see how it is...] I heard him chuckle.
[—they aren't from the Hawks. They are just a bunch of thugs that stole the gun.]
"What?"
Did I mess up again? Did I steal something that isn't from the MedExpert?
"Ha! We finally got her."
They caught me off guard, and now they are celebrating. I tried to crawl away from them. But, they blocked my way of escape by stepping on my hand. I groaned in pain as he pressed his shoe on my knuckles and steps out once he's satisfied. One thug stared at me intently and forcefully pulled my arms away to reveal my face.
"Wait a minute...I've seen that face somewhere. Weren't you that bitch's face posted around the city?"
Shit. These mother fuckers recognized me. How much misfortune shall I have in this life? Knowing that they've seen my face, I still covered it in reflex.
"So? What if I was her?" They all laughed hysterically.
They must've thought they had hit the jackpot. Now that these guys already got me weak on the ground, they'll surely take me to the Corporation.
