I hate waking up here.
"Greg? Are you crying?"
"Yeah… That last time around was a bit rough."
"What happened? I've never seen you cry after getting back here."
OW!
"Ack! Oh that hurts! Note for the future, death spells HURT."
"I'll be sure to get a sticky note for you. Now, talk."
"I lost a friend. She died in my arms. I used a death spell to turn a man into a statue."
"Don't talk Geoff. Greg, have a glass of water. It's hard losing a friend."
"Greg, despite Geam trying to put it off, the King requested an audience. Luther wishes to see you in his throne room by end of day. He says it's important, and not to try to use the portal to run, he's disabled it."
"He disabled the portal? Doesn't that violate the Avalon accords?"
"Yes."
"Oh. I guess this is pretty serious then."
"Yes."
"Care to elaborate?"
"No."
"So talkative. Geam, since he knows I'm here, where's the kitchen. I could go for some ice cream."
"Since he knows you're here, I'll take you. No point in putting up charades now."
"Remember, be in his majesty's throne room within 3 hours."
"Plenty of time to get across the castle for some ice cream. Come on Greg, let's ditch this joint."
"Sometimes, you make me want to shoot myself."
"Hey, stop saying that, you'll freak out the maids."
"And they won't come in anymore for you to stare at. Yeah yeah, whatever."
"Hey, some of them look pretty good, even you can't deny that."
"But we both know you have eyes for the princess of Saintas."
"I don't know how you think you know these things, but it's a bit creepy."
"Don't worry about it."
"Wasn't going to. My dad must have you here for some reason, and he is the king."
"Good, now off you go. And say hi to Essy for me."
"How do you know she's on staff."
"What did I just say?"
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Greg, let's get going, the ice cream won't eat itself."
…
I couldn't save her.
Even when I embraced my powers as a god, I couldn't save her.
What am I good for. What if that was Helena? Can I really save her as I am now? Am I enough?
Kayla was already in my arms. I didn't have to go find her. I didn't have to fight through some cruel and wicked curse or some uber-powerful final boss. I had her, and I lost her. Sure, I could go find her god and visit, but she won't ever see her sister again. She won't ever be able to see Lils again. What chance of saving my sister if I can't even save somebody from a weakling like Hert?
"Greg! Snap out of it, we're here."
"Oh… Sorry, I have a lot on my mind."
"Hence why we have our friends chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry."
"Right…"
"Stop thinking and eat."
"Yeah…"
Ice cream. Focus on it. Take your mind off it. It doesn't matter what happens out there. I just have to find her. That's all… That's all I have to do…
"Greg! Stop spacing out!"
"Sorry, I'm not all here right now."
"Well you better get here quick, cause you're about to go see my father. I've spent the last hour trying to get your attention. You're a bit short on time, so we best get moving."
"Kid, a piece of advice: Don't lose your head in front of the king."
"Sorry, who are you?"
"Essy, I'm a chef here at the kitchen. Good to finally meet Geam's second stomach. Or at least part of it. Visit again if you want to feel a bit more like your self."
"I will… Thank you."
"Any time, not every day does the prince of demon's hang out with a god."
"If only you knew…"
"Best get moving, sorry Essy, and Geoff says hi."
"Oh… Tell him I said I'm sorry I can't visit."
"So you do know him. I wanna hear that story."
"*Bad whistling*"
"*Sigh*. It's never easy with him. Come on Greg."
Is it me or the halls getting bigger… No, they definitely are. And he has a very imposing door.
"Good luck bud, I'm sure you'll be fine."
"Yeah, I'm sure I will."
God the knocker is like 10 pounds. Downscale!
"Come in."
"You're Majesty."
"Get up Gaia, you've no need to bow. We both know you're above me."
"Maybe before, but right now, I'm just a normal human."
"Is that so? Well then, "Normal Human" what should I call you?"
"Greg is fine, your highness."
"Drop the honorific, I'm not your ruler."
"Yes, sir."
"Good enough. Have you any idea why you've been called?"
"No, sir."
"So you really don't know anything, huh. Well then, I have a few questions."
"Ask away, sir."
"Why are you here?"
"I don't know, whenever I die, I wake up in your sons chambers, sir."
"That's because you'd be waking up here elsewise. You don't know why you awake in my realm?"
"Not the slightest Idea, sir."
"Well, that doesn't help. Why do you keep leaving?"
"I aim to find my sister, sir."
"You think yourself more capable than me and your mother?"
"You're also looking for my sister?"
"Yes, Greg, I am. I was there when Helena went missing. It was the same time my wife and daughter disappeared."
"Oh."
"I've had no luck finding any of them, but I can tell you that your sister will be the hardest to find. She came to me for help, before she disappeared. She said that she needed to leave, and soon, or else many would die. I couldn't bring myself to help, but I recommended her someone who might. Alexander Heran, the Sage King. I hope the information can help, at least a little. Otherwise, why did you hide from me?"
"Fear of your wrath, sir."
"You are basically family, Greg."
"No sir, I'm but a humble human, hiding from the demon king in his own castle, a plaything for the prince."
"Say what you must, I guess. To the topic of the night. I'd like to know why two clerics of Gregorian Gaia appeared in my throne room a few days ago."
