The man gazed into Jiang Ying Yue's charming eyes with his deep, piercing and still bone-chilling eyes that appeared to be covered in layers of frost as he lay motionless on the ground, unblinking still holding on to her hand in a tight grip without any intention of letting go.
If it had been an average ordinary teenager the man's cold gaze alone was enough to make them shudder and cry for help, however, with Jiang Ying Yue this wasn't the case at all.
"Hey, you should let go of my hand. It's not gentlemanly at all." Jiang Ying Yue's initial slight frown deepened as the force used by the man was a little too much for her skinny wrist to bear, nevertheless, there was no sign of fear on her face, "Hiss…..hey, why aren't realizing my hand? Didn't you hear me? I advise you to not try my patience." Jiang Ying Yue spoke again, this time her tone was a bit cold and harsh, filled with anger and threat unlike before when she had used a comparatively mild tone towards that strange injured man despite her visible frown. This time she was angry.
If Her earlier soft complaining voice was akin to a melody that lulled people into trance then her current soft yet harsh and cold threatening voice was something that sent chill down one's spine and so were her beautiful peach blossom eyes which followed its owner's mood and transformed revealing a gaze that spoke tons about its owner's innate bloodthirsty and coldblooded nature.
However, that didn't destroy or diminish their charms instead it added an undeniable lustre making them appear more vivid and alive.
The man blinked his dark eyes whose shapes were covered behind his splendid-looking silver mask. However, there wasn't a single ripple in his dark eyes making them resemble a desolated deep pool. Other than that there was no other reaction from the man, he just sat there staring into Jiang Ying Yue's eyes, still holding onto her hand.
Finding his reaction strange Jiang Ying Yue too took the initiative to stare back into his eyes through the gap of his silver mask.
Both Jiang Ying Yue and the man stared into each other's eyes finding each other more interesting with every passing second.
To the man Jiang Ying Yue's eyes were like a treasure trove—full of different kinds of treasures called emotions, which he longed for—sometimes there was unsullied purity, sometimes curiosity, sometimes annoyance, impatience or anger.
There were so many emotions within them, but it was a shame that he couldn't perceive or express any of them, however, still somehow for some reason he felt tickled because of them.
This small tickle might be his interest to know such an interesting girl or might be his longing for emotions that a human should possess, but whatever it was he failed to understand for he had long forgotten what feelings and emotions were.
But the man seemed to have failed to notice something.
That pair of sparkling eyes which held so many emotions wasn't supposed to affect him in any way just like for the past five years, but for some unknown reason,n it did and also in an astonishing way.
That simple tickle was everything that was needed to get Wheel of Destiny started.
On the other end, Jiang Ying Yue had a bewildered look on her face as she found the man's cold, dark eyes resemble a piece of lusterless coal, dead-black and damp; there was no stirring, no ripple, nor any light in them. Seeing those soulless eyes which seemed devoid of any emotions, Jiang Ying Yue for some reason suddenly felt a sense of pity towards the man, which eventually dissipated her previous anger.
This time using a somewhat gentle tone she tried to probe the man, "Umm…you look seriously injured and need treatment. So, can you let go of my hand? I can help you treat them."
However, he just gazed at her as his eyes were slowly showing an unprecedented sense of fatigue before starting to lose their focus. Those drooping lashes slowly turned heavy and shut tight.
Until the end the man didn't utter a single word for help, he just remained to lie there as if accepting his fate before his death.
Jiang Ying Yue sat there silently for a moment staring at the man visage who didn't even have the will to fight for his life, considering whether to treat him or not.
It was at that moment when saw the man moving his lips slightly. The movement was so light that it would have gone unnoticed if not for her sharp eyes. Jiang Ying Yue moved her ears close to his mouth trying to listen to what the man was saying.
"He…lp."
With his hoarse voice a soft, very soft and hardly audible call for help was what Jiang Ying Yue came across as she leaned closer to the man's face, after which she heard a thud as the man's half-leaning upper body fell to the side almost taking leaning Jiang Ying Yue along with it as the man was still holding onto her hand.
Jiang Ying Yue was first shocked and then embarrassed due to this incident for she was the actual culprit behind this clumsy fall but she still couldn't help pinning all the blame on the near-dying unconscious man, just because he was holding onto her hand.
Grumbling and mumbling to herself and the unconscious man, Jiang Ying Yue quickly adjusted herself owing to her years of experience and quickly crawled forward to support his upper body in her embrace before trying to make him lay flat on the ground despite the discomfort from her dangling right hand that the man refused to leave.
A deep frown and long helpless sigh followed after that, accompanying them was also a bit of her suppressed fury.
Swallowing hard on all her complaints and displeasure Jiang Ying Yue continued forward and used her left hand to check his pulse and eyes.
The man's complexion and lips were so pale from excessive blood loss that they were almost transparent and his breathing was so shallow that it seemed it would stop at any moment.
And at that moment her instinct for a doctor kicked in, forcing her to resign herself to her fate of saving a stranger. With a determined look, she continued inspection.
She observed his body for every minor and major wound that was bleeding and her eyes immediately landed on the other hand that the man had been pressing on his abdomen.
Jiang Ying Yue lifted her right hand, once again forgetting the situation, to reach out his hand that was placed on his abdomen only to find her wrist being locked in a death grip.
Looking at the large hand that was still tightly holding on to her wrist Jiang Ying Yue felt tired in his stead.
'This man is something!'
'Sinc, you are unconscious, why don't you just play your part thoroughly? Isn't it nice to lie there and relax comfortably? Why trouble yourself by clutching onto my hand?'
With an annoyed expression,n Jiang Ying Yue puffed her cheeks and couldn't help cursing the man for his shrewdness.
However, it was of no use. It was as if his hand was stuck onto her wrist with some kind of permanent adhesive.
Jiang Ying Yue felt exasperated being stuck in this situation and gave up finally and carried on with the rescue mission.
"You know, you should be thankful that I am ambidextrous. Otherwise,e you would have been dead after playing such a trick on me." Jiang Ying Yue sneered as she tore a piece of her outer robe to bandage the wound on his stomach.
As she moved his hand that was pressing the wound red, hot blood started gushing out of it.
Without wasting any time Jiang Ying Yue moved her hands quickly and methodically with expertise and bandaged the wound to stop the bleeding temporarily.
"I think you'll need stitches. From the look of it, the wound seems to be deep...Hmm, I wonder if I could get a suitable needle and thread to do it."
Jiang Ying Yue mumbled as if conversing with the man while she patched him up before trying to carry him to her courtyard not far away.
"Let's go to my courtyard, I will treat your wounds there. Oh by the way you should let go of my hand now, I swear I won't run away." Even knowing that there wouldn't be any response from the other side Jiang Ying Yue continued with her monologue just like how she had done countless times in the past back on her home planet. It was a way of relieving the stress and loneliness that she had come up with after realizing that she was different from her peers and couldn't get along with them easily.
After saying what she had to say Jiang Ying Yue tried to free her hand from his clutches for the last time. And surprisingly, this time around the man loosened his grip obediently as if he seemed to have heard her words earlier.
Seeing him loosen his grip Jiang Ying Yue immediately jumped to retrieve her hand back from the man's wretched claw with a sigh of relief while at the same time feeling sorry for her bruised thin wrist.
After which she stood up and ran back towards the mansion, bypassing her courtyard to bring a few thick sacs that could be used to drag and smuggle the man inside without drawing anyone's attention.
Jiang Ying Yue huffed and puffed as she lifted that seemingly thin yet shockingly heavy man to place on a sack that she got from somewhere before employing another sack to cover her 'smuggled goods' perfectly making it appear as normal as possible.
Staring at the small mountain of 'smuggled goods' that appeared no different from the sack of grains Jiang Ying Yue nodded in satisfaction and began dragging it with all her might towards her study as fast as possible.
