The next day, Jiang Ying Yue woke up at dawn from the noise of her rumbling stomach, which was incessantly asking for food.
After coming to this world she wasn't quite used to their tasteless food and timetable. Here, people followed the timetable of the olden days and ate their lunch and dinner early. So, after a long night of starvation, it was natural for her to feel hungry early in the morning. Besides, the family of cultivators practised different eating habits.
The side dishes that were prepared for their meals were mostly different kinds of herbs that aided in cultivation and weren't up to her liking, even the fruits were the types that she had never seen before, mostly unpalatable.
So, she didn't feel like eating any more after eating a few bites of her meal.
With her grumbling tummy, Jiang Ying Yue groggily woke up from her bed and ordered her maid Qiu to ask the cooks to prepare something for her to eat after she washed up.
After filling her growling stomach with the usual bland breakfast Jiang Ying Yue headed out for a walk.
It was the start of the summer, so it wasn't chilly in the morning instead it felt refreshing with the surroundings covered in a thin layer of white mist.
Jiang Ying Yue walked around her courtyard in a pleasant mood. But this leisure walk didn't last for long, Abhram, who had been cultivating inside the Brahma space woke up, and soon she was nagged to death by him to begin her cultivation.
With a defeated look and sighing deeply she headed towards a dull-looking pavilion which was erected not far from her courtyard and took a seat on one of the cushions placed around.
Inhaling the fresh morning air that was far purer than the one from her world Jiang Ying Yue felt her body filled with vitality, and she felt her sullen mood improve slightly.
Sitting in the lotus position she tried to recall how people cultivated in this world.
Recalling her memories she directed her meridians to slowly absorb Qi present in the surroundings and channeled it towards her core or dantian.
After repeating this process a few times Jiang Ying Yue felt that she was getting used to it so she increased the absorption of the Qi efficiently with much ease.
In the blink of an eye three hours passed, the mist in the surrounding had long dissipated and the sun was shining brightly in the sky.
Jiang Ying Yue opened her eyes and let out a foul breath. She felt every cell of her body brimming with vitality and she had to agree this feeling was quite good. No wonder these people here were so addicted to cultivating.
She could feel Qi flowing in her meridians which were full of vitality. Not bad!
From her memory, she had stepped into Martial Red's initial stage and if she was not mistaken with her speed of cultivation she felt that she could reach the threshold of the intermediate stage within a week or two.
However, she was also quite puzzled by the astounding speed of her cultivation. Was it normal?
From her memory of the previous owner, people took at least six months to a year to achieve this goal, even the previous owner had taken four months to reach the Martial Red Intermediate stage from the initial stage and was already considered a genius when she was six years old. Then why was it different now?
After pondering for a while she thought of asking Abhram later as that fellow was more knowledgeable than her in this regard.
For now, let her rest in peace! She didn't want to be nagged again to continue her cultivation, so she dared not to call for that brat at this moment!
Anyway, she had other things to do in her schedule today. Although cultivation was sort of addictive she couldn't behave like these muddleheaded people and abandon all other necessities of living just for the sake of cultivation.
So, tossing this matter in the back of her mind, she hummed a light tune and headed towards her chamber.
However, halfway through her way, she suddenly remembered something and halted midway.
Last night, the torturous process of detoxification drained all her energy, causing her to experience immense fatigue. As soon as, she fell onto her bed, her fatigue took over and she fell asleep like a log, totally unaware of her surroundings and circumstances.
She had been so deep in her sleep that she slept throughout the night, not waking up even once.
But, that was not the point. The reason for Jiang Ying Yue's sudden halt was her last night's dream.
Last night, Jiang Ying Yue had happened to the dream of a silver mask, the one owned by the wounded man she saved the previous day.
Her dream was very hazy, very unclear, covered by mist. The only things that she could make out were that silver mask and a soft yet annoying buzzing.
Jiang Ying Yue, deep in her sleep couldn't recognize the voice, which was adamant about repeating some unclear words with the utmost solemnity, which made them resemble some religious slogan of a pious monk, sincere and heavy.
Nevertheless, Jiang Ying Yue still found this murmuring bothersome. This buzzing noise wasn't letting her sleep soundly nor was it forcibly jolting her up. She felt like she was drifting in her semiconscious state, feeling like her whole being was thrown into space, which lacked gravity. She wanted to sleep but she couldn't, she wanted to open her eyes yet she still couldn't.
Jiang Ying Yue was helpless. All she could hear were words like a promise, my life, revenge, hollow and also words that she couldn't remember at all. And she had no idea how these peculiar words were supposed to be arranged. At this moment, there was only one single thought running through her mind—
'Damn! How could she forget about her first and one and only patient?!'
If not for suddenly remembering the dream from yesterday night, Jiang Ying Yue had almost forgotten about that strange man, who was currently occupying her study.
Looking around cautiously Jiang Ying Yue pushed the door open of her study and shut it back immediately after stepping inside.
Inside, the room was dark as all windows and doors were tightly shut. Only a few beams of rays which entered the room through gaps between windows and doors were lighting the dark room.
Last evening it was already turning dark, so she couldn't see clearly. But now looking around the study she found the study covered in a layer of dust. It seemed that no one had been cleaning the study since her accident.
Well, she couldn't blame them. It was all because of the previous owner's strange temperament. She never allowed other people inside her study even her parents and cleaned and arranged her study by herself. And she was very particular about it, so no one dared to step inside her study taking into account her hot-temper and finicky nature.
Recalling all these memories Jiang Ying Yue sighed lightly. Teenagers! Teenagers!
Shaking her head slightly Jiang Ying Yue continued walking towards the, where she tucked the man under the blankets but when she arrived near she realized that the lump of man under the blanket was gone.
Stepping forward, her palm slightly caressed over the duvet which had turned cold suggesting the departure of the man a long while ago.
Sitting there with her palm still resting on the cold duvet, Jiang Ying Yue gave a heavy sigh, a sigh that resembled that of a responsible doctor, who was worried about her patient's well-being.
No matter from which angle one looked this seemed to be the case.
The reason behind Jiang Ying Yue's dejected look and that heavy sigh was most probably her dedicated heart of a good doctor. This was the most obvious picture this situation was supposed to create for others until a heavy slap landed on that abandoned duvet breaking this heartwarming illusion.
Jiang Ying Yue's face twisted in anger realizing that her patient had run away.
"Damn! That guy ran away without paying!"
Curling her fist, she twisted the material of the blanket into a ball and gnashed her teeth malevolently, recounting all her efforts that she had put to rescue that scoundrel, who didn't even bother to thank her, let alone pay her consultation and medication fee.
In this world, besides food, the thing that she lacked most was f*cking money!!
Even a stalk of the random herb was enough to cost her a mountain of silver coins.
So, no wonder Jiang Ying Yue was so upset about it.
Abhram, who had just finished his cultivation, was completely unaware of the unfavourable situation outside. In an absolutely good mood, he chirped like a happy bird and called out to his master.
"Master, are you there?"
Jiang Ying Yue, who was in no mood to tease the boy like she usually did, just gave him a curt response and went back into sulking, completely ignoring the sweet bun.
"Hmm, If I had known he was such an ingrate, I should have just taken his mask—" Jiang Ying Yue mumbled as she folded the bedding on the floor and shoved it to a corner harshly, taking out her frustration on innocent, lifeless duvet while continuing her sad monologue, which appeared hardly sad, "—it could have…. gotten me some silver, Huh."
"If I see that man again, I'll let him regret messing with a broke person, I, Jiang Sia, no, Ying Sia, no, no, that's not right too, I, Jiang Ying....dang it! Whatever! Why does it matter? The only thing that mattered now was making that ingrate clear up his dues."
Jiang Ying Yue's face flushed red with excitement. Probably thinking of some evil plans to straighten out her runaway patient once he fell into her hands and make him spit the money he had swallowed from her.
