The old man finished his explanation of the system and gave me a moment for my emotions to catch up to my enhanced information processing. When emotions stopped flickering over my face with the speed and consistency of a formula one car with four flats. "good" he nodded "now I'm going to explain how I'm going to fix what my system did to you" he looked at me and I nodded. "I can't go back in time unfortunately, my powers only extend to death and reincarnation, which means I can't simply go back. time and give you a class or assign you one based on your past actions. You also deserve some kind of compensation for all the trouble." The old man took another swig of coffee. it seemed like a God couldn't run out of breath, the explanation was running long and I was happy for a few seconds break.
"According to my AI the primary regret you have is that you were never in control of your own life, that fact lead to most of your other regrets, so if I can get that out of the way the system will be able to handle your future reincarnations. So I am going to give you a simple bonus, I am going to give you a new free-form weekly quest, most things you do will give you skills or stats at the end of the week as long as you are putting in effort." He smiled "additionally I am going to unlock all your skills at level zero and give you an amount of sp and ap that are average for someone of your age."
This made me gape, on the surface this sounded like an average reward but that didn't take into account that he was handing me the ability to chose my own skills and stats. normally the system ran on weighted probabilities, you get one sp and one ap per week, if you practice martial arts during a given week and do all your daily quests you get a chance to roll strength, agility, and martial arts related skills, every hour spent doing something granted additional chances to roll related skills and stats with sleep skills only gaining the chance to roll after 10 hours of sleep.
This system often created situations where people got the wrong skills, getting a skill to max level was almost unheard of due to the sheer amount of skills per activity and how easy it was to accidentally gain chances to roll on unrelated activities, it was almost impossible to avoid having at least a couple points in sleeping skills or skills based on hobbies and chores that are required to live but not what you are trying to become.
with my overinflated int Stat my brain immediately realized the power that this could grant me, being able to truly min/max my stats and abilities would make me a powerhouse.
The old man's smile grew even wider, so much that it felt slightly creepy. He waved his hand and around my peripheral vision the world began to white out slowly. "I'm also going to make sure you don't die, this would all be pointless if you reincarnated without achieving anything, but this is the last time, if you die again thats on you, and I'll be watching you, I may drop you some extra quests and skills for entertainment purposes."
The world started dissolving faster and I remembered something that happened early in my conversation "Oh, you need to tell my friend Kevin about all that Universal programming stuff, he will lov..." and halfway through the sentence the world vanished completely.
