I woke up feeling my phone buzzing. Someone was calling me. But more importantly, someone was knocking on my door frantically. "Honey! Open up!" It was Romona's voice on the other end. I looked down at my phone to see 100 miss calls from Alpha Brendon. "Vivienne Blair!" She shouted and used her mother's voice to try to get me to obey. I checked the time to see it was around midnight. Wow, I fell asleep around lunchtime…
'Blair!' Arwen said in relief. 'What took you so long to cross back over?' She asked in a worried tone. I looked around in confusion as my head still felt foggy. I could hear voices on the other side of the door. Someone else was with Romona? I heard what sounded like a drill start up and I widened my eyes as I realized what was happening. They're taking my door off my hinges?!!
"Mom!" I shouted and got to my feet but fell back down on the bed as the world seemed to spin. "Mom! I'm ok!" I told her and I heard the drill stop.
"Honey!" She shouted in relief. "Honey open the door! Can you open the door?"
I took a deep breath before getting back up, this time slowly. "Y-yeah, hold on!" I told her as I walked towards the door. I held my head as I unlocked it. I had to step back as the door flung open. I suddenly felt my body get lifted off the ground and the smell of apples and cinnamon made me realize who was here. "Alpha Brendon?" I asked in confusion. He growled as he hugged me to his chest. He seemed to be breathing me in as he looked around the room. "What's the matter?" I asked and tensed up. I looked over his shoulder to see my father holding a drill. My mom was in tears, looking relieved. Mal, Cal, Innath, and Niall were trying to comfort her. And Nena stood nearby with her arms crossed. She looked at me and shook her head before bringing a phone to her ear to tell someone I was okay. "What's going on?" I asked them.
'You've been unconscious for several hours, Blair. There's something else too…'
"We were worried when you didn't respond. Why didn't you?" My father asked and raised an eyebrow. Obviously he was wondering about why the alpha was hugging me but that will have to be explained later.
"I-" I looked at Alpha Brendon. "After I finished the call with you, I thought it would be best if I talked to the moon goddess first. So I took some Melatonin to help me sleep."
"Did you talk with her?" Alpha Brendon asked in relief. I nodded and gave him a smile but it faded as worry was still relatively on his face. "Something happened while you were crossed over. Blair, he's no longer able to shift. He doesn't have contact with his Wolf either."
"Emmett?" I asked.
"Yes."
I adverted my eyes as relief washed over me. This is all going to easily be covered up in no time. "Wait, where is Cole?" I asked as I noticed he was the only one missing.
"He's by Emmett," Nena told me as she waved the phone. I pushed my way out of Alpha Brendon's arms and walked towards her.
"Give me the phone Nena," I didn't wait as I took it from her and put the phone up to my ear. "Cole?"
"Yeah Viv?" Cole asked with a shaky breath. I growled softly.
"I want you to let him go," I whispered into the phone. "He's not a good person. Please just walk away," I begged.
"That's kinda hard to do… I'm already leaving with him."
"What? Where are you going?" I asked in a sad tone.
"He's been asked to leave the pack and I'm going with him, Viv."
"But… he's not your soulmate, Cole. You have to hold out for your soulmate. You'll see, your soulmate will mean everything to you… and you'll forget about him. He's wrong for you, Cole."
"That's my decision to make, Viv."
I felt tears rush down my cheeks as he hung up on me. I looked over my shoulder and looked at Alpha Brendon. "You kicked him out?" I asked and clenched my teeth together. "MY baby brother is with that monster and this is all because you asked him to leave!" I pointed a finger at him. "Did no one think Cole would just stay behind?!" I shouted as I looked at Mal. He held up his arms to protect himself.
"Viv, calm down," Mal said quickly. I growled suddenly as I stumbled from feeling weak still and fell into Nena's arms. She held me until Alpha Brendon got to us and he picked me up. I looked towards my parents then at Niall, Cal, and Innath.
"We have to go track them down before Cole gets hurt. I'm going, are you coming?"
Alpha growled in my ear. "You're not going anywhere, Blair."
"And why?!"
I growled in anger.
"You're not feeling well and no Luna of mine is crossing territories while pregnant."
Alpha Brendon and I seemed to growl at each other then as I challenged his authority. We glared into each other's eyes before my father cleared his throat to interrupt our argument. "And when was someone going to catch me up on this news?" Dad asked in slight shock.
"I told you they spent the night together," mom whispered and nudged his side. "You should listen to me more often." Mal seemed to be just as surprised as dad. But as for the other four they were smiling instead. Like this was somehow amusing.
"Who the hell said I'm pregnant?" I asked Alpha Brendon. "I AM a perfectly capable female prepared to go track down her brother." He chuckled suddenly and kissed my forehead. His kiss suddenly made me calm down a little.
"You sure are, but Blair… You're not feeling well so please stay in pack territory. I will send Innath and Cal, our best two trackers to hunt them down and bring Cole home. Does that make you feel better?" He asked and brushed hair out of my eyes. I nodded and looked at the two of them. Will they really do it? They gave me reassuring smiles. "There, you can rest easy knowing your brothers will be bringing Cole home." He rubbed my cheek and leaned in to kiss my lips. My father cleared his throat suddenly.
"Alpha Brendon, you may be my alpha but under this roof you'll have respect for my daughter and her parents. You better ask me first before going ahead and-" my father was cut off by Alpha.
"I meant no disrespect. Calix, will you grant me blessings to court your daughter?"
I practically snorted and rolled my eyes. This is insane. My father never acted like this before. Asking for blessings?
They suddenly shook hands as my dad pulled us into a hug. "Anything my daughter supports I will be right behind it, Alpha Brendon."
My mom clapped suddenly in happiness before turning to Innath and Cal. "You two boys take care while on the road looking for Cole," she warned them. "Please keep me updated," she looked worried for them. As a mother should be when the babies leave the nest.
"I'll need more hands on boarders while the boys are gone. Malakai, Vivienne, you'll start your duties with me at six a.m. sharp."
Alpha Brendon frowned at my dad's request. He seemed to not like it- but he wasn't about to object my father's decision since he knew what was best for boarders. No one ever dared to question him before.
"Don't worry Alpha, Vivienne will only have half days. If what you said is true and my daughter IS pregnant she will not be pushed to work overtime. Malakai, that means you'll have to work extra hours." Mal frowned but nodded his head. It's not like he had anything better to do... but truth be told I've never seen Mal as a wolf. Will he really be a shifted wolf tomorrow morning?
"Thank you for keeping her in mind," Alpha said happily and looked at me. I blushed like a mad dog. He's really being nice towards me today. "Blair, I'll see you tomorrow for lunch?" He asked me happily. I only nodded as I looked down at my feet.
My mom cleared her throat and happily said, "Alpha Brendon… I believe it's a little late for you to be driving home," she said as her eyes landed on the dark windows. It was night already? Oh right! It was past midnight. "How about you stay the night? Niall you better stay here as well. Your mate might just kill me if I let you drive home this late. You can give her a call and explain everything. Innath, Calcifer, you better get a head start or you'll be gone even longer looking for Cole."
"I'll run with you to the boarders," dad said as he was about to start walking but Niall joined by his side.
"I'll come too dad," he told him in a concerned voice. The four seemed to walk off. Mom asked Nena to help her with something as they walked away. Mal gave us a smile before walking off awkwardly as well. That seemed to settle things as I looked at Alpha Brendon's face. He carried me into my bedroom and shut the door behind us. He made sure to lock it. I looked up into his eyes as he carried me over to my bed and placed me in it.
"Are you okay if I stay?" He asked me softly.
"You better stay the night," I admired. It was too late for him to be going anywhere. And… I kinda like the thought of him spending the night with me. He looked around my room and smiled- a mischievous look grew on his face.
"You have the same bed frame like mine? How are we not the ones that are soul mates?" He chuckled as he tucked me into my covers and started to explore my memorial senior year bedroom. I blushed as I still have my stuffed animals sitting on a storage ottoman at the foot of my bed. There were several bears because that was my favorite. But they were vintage. Something I bargain hunted down. He admired them as he touched them. The rest of my room consists of VHS tapes, a tube TV, and many frames artworks I scattered or hung up. He admired everything and took me all in. This is who I was. I am. He walked back to me after looking around and sat down by me.
"I really am starting to love you," he told me as his eyes landed on my lips.
"My dad had five other lovers apart from his soul mate. He told me that they all felt like they were just as important as the real one was for him. Maybe we can be like that?" I said softly. I'm willing to give it a try… after all he's been making the right moves. Maybe my destiny is here with him? I could be his Luna. I could want that.
"Let's start by you calling me just Brendon," he suggested. "If I can call you Blair then you're allowed to just say Brendon."
"Okay, Brendon."
I had to admit, the name was funny on my lips. I couldn't help but giggle. Never in my life did I feel more comfortable with any other person. Brendon was probably better than Emmett ever could be to me. It's like we were connecting on another level. He's been patient with me and caring. The way he looked at me when he came through the door earlier... It told me he loved me. His attention on me felt nice. I could look past dominant side... because after all... he was an alpha. Was there any reason not to submit to him and become Luna?
"Do you still want me to be your mate?" I asked him softly. We had already cuddled up together and I noticed that while he was up, he put a movie on. It was a Rom Com. He had changed into just boxers and his shirt he had on. I was laying my head on his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair. He only then paused to pull my head up so I would look him in the eyes.
"I want you to be my mate for the rest of my life," he told me sweetly. I reached up and pulled him into a passionate kiss. That's it, I will give him a week's trial. If I didn't love him by the end of it then I will have to leave this pack and find another future for myself. Because... I don't think I will be able to stand it staying here if he was with someone else.
"Do I still have to stay in the pack house for a week?" I asked softly. He chuckled and shook his head, no.
"Not if you don't want to. I don't mind making a trip here if I'm desperate enough to see you," he told me. He seemed really happy I was asking these questions. Arwen seemed to be happy about my thoughts opening up to being with him.
"I don't want to just yet... I just got back home here," I told him and looked around my bedroom. He nodded like he understood my meaning. "Tell me about Luna Aaliyah," I yawned out. He raised an eyebrow.
"What about her? Oh... you must've been away at college. Well..." He looked sad then as he thought about her. "I met Liyah through her brother, Luke. We three grew up together. Well, with Emmett of course by our side. That is, when he wasn't spending time here with Cole. Emmett is my cousin on my father's side. Anyways, Luke was my best friend and later my beta. Because our fathers trained us together. His father was my dad's beta. Their family have been beta's to mine for generations. I started catching on Liyah was my mate at a younger age then most alphas... and I would tease her about it untl we both came of age and found out... we actually were. She was just a couple of years younger then me..."
"You loved her?" I asked softly. He smiled and nodded.
"I really did. She one day left with Luke to go baby shopping. I didn't think anything of it... They stayed out late together and started coming home in a thunderstorm. They crossed a bridge and lost control of the wheel. The car went over... Her seat belt got stuck and they think she died first. She was nine weeks pregnant. So excited and lively... Luke made it out of his seat belt but he couldn't get the window to break open." I shivered at the thought of how they died. Did their wolves comfort them and walk them to the moon goddess? How afraid were they? I remember hearing about it from Mal... I use to think about how it was a freak accident. He lost his beta and his luna in one day.
"How did you manage?" I asked softly.
"Luna met with me soon after in a dream. I got to run with Aaliyah and Luke. Then Aaliyah took me to the side and told me not to let her death ruin my pack or my life. That I would have to stay strong because I am a leader... and that I would one day find someone just as precious as she once was to me. I'd have to do everything I could to protect her. So, I've been waiting all this time."
"You think she was talking about me?" I blushed.
"I know so. You were a sign the first night we met. You're my future Luna."
I blushed and felt my heart flutter. He sure had a way with words. My mind paused as I remembered something from my run with the moon goddess. I tilted my head quickly to the side. What if it... was real? What if Alpha Fang wasn't just something my mind made up after meeting the moon goddess? I had to know what he thought about it.
"Brendon have you ever met anyone else apart from the moon goddess?" I asked curiously. "On the other side?"' He frowned as he shook his head no.
"Have you?" He asked and chuckled.
"No, I think it was a dream," I mumbled and sighed. He nodded.
"Well, we could look through the records in my study to see if there is anything we can find. We can start tomorrow afternoon... but how about we get some sleep now. You have to wake up early for pack duties." That last bit came out in a teasing tone. I smacked his chest softly and giggled. I can't believe he would remind me of that. But he was right... I had to get up early for my shift. I heard him yawn and it reminded me he's been up a lot longer than I have. I faked one too and together we turned off everything in the room to try to get some shut eye.
