*At The Police Station*
The Officer in Charge, the Inspectors, the sub Inspectors, everybody was on high alert. They were trying to extort informations and confessions from the accused people. But to their no avail, the accused ones were not co-operating at all. Moreover, three of them were all came from prominent, wealthy families. But the fact, the accused ones brought here by none other than Mr. Adi Roy's men made their spine chilled. To their utter surprise, when Mr. Adi Roy came on the station by himself and asked about the progress, their breaths hitched.
Lily was sitting there like a statue. She refused to utter even a single word about today's incident. The fact that she was the victim but she knew about the plan from beforehand made the case a little difficult.
She came from the legendary Smith family which was not only wealthy but they were also an aristocratic family with a nearly hundred years of heritage. And she was the going to be heiress of the Smiths, the best among their forth generation's children.
So the polices were handling it too carefully. One wrong move, and they would loose their jobs or may be their heads too. Neither the Roys nor the Smiths could be negligible.
The other two were also from prestigious and wealthy families. And they were accused directly. One set the plot and the other twisted the facts and manipulated public opinions to shame the victim.
Cindy looked towards Macy as she bit her lips. She was regretting why the hell she agreed on Macy's request. It was just five hundred thousand dollars. When she had her cards with pretty good limits, that much money was not even worthy of her one day's shopping wages.
'How pretentious!' She looked towards Macy and sneered as she thought Macy was a good actress. By the moment she got caught, she never stopped weeping and sobbing. Her continuous flow of tears and soft weeps was melting the hearts of the officers.
'If Mr. Adi Roy was not involved, by now these officers were seduced and she might start making out with them to get out from here.'
Actually that was indeed the case. Macy was a good actress to begin with. She knew that nobody from her family really cared about her, and her father was a complete useless who danced with her stepmother's words. Nobody would come to her rescue. Untill today, she had survived until now by her own. So if she had to get out from here, she had to rely on none other than herself.
With her unbending beauty and popularity, the make up and the dress today were the cherry topping of the cake. She was determined to melt someone's heart here and find any flaws in the case and get out from here.
While Cindy still could not understand why nobody was still coming for her.
'Da*n it. Why is that fool still not coming! Does he want to cut his ties with me after finding about my deeds at Mr. Roy's party?'
She knew that her crime was not that serious. She was sure that she would get a bail right away if a lawyer came here.
"Here is the pendrive containing the evidence." Arthur put the pendrive on the table of the sub inspector. Then he continued, "We would like to change the case into assult, deliberate attempt to damage our company's reputation, illegal try to breach of the contract. So we hope, until our lawyer arrives, you don't allow anybody to get away from here."
"Sure sure. As Mr. Roy wants." The inspector was sweating all over. He regretted that he fought with two other officers to get today's night shift. He thought it would be peaceful like the other days but to his surprize, a simple but high profile case came.
"What about the confessions?" Adi asked the officer in charge with a solemn expression.
"Neither Miss Carter nor Miss Smith has said anything. Moreover, Mrs. Brown is threatening that she will sue us. But..." He immediately shut his mouth up after seeing Adi's darkening expression.
Meanwhile the man who had danced with Lily Smith and the waitress, both were sitting silently. That man had entered into the party differently, using Macy's connections. Neither he, nor the waitress, none of them had no connections, or any backing to save their backs.
The waitress was sitting silently, her head lowered. That video had captured her actions and her words clearly. And after such things happened, there was no way to escape. Neither she had any proof to deny the accusations, nor she had any money to pay for her bail.
Thinking of the money, her eyes watered. She was finished, there were no chance to save her mother anymore. Moreover even if this matter was passed, this would leave a dark shadow over her career. She was sure, after what she had done, Mr. Adi Roy would take care of her personally. She would really be lucky if she got a minimum job to earn to feed herself in future.
She clenched her hands as she thought of her decision taken on a whim to help Macy.
"May I come in, Sir?"
Everybody looked through the glass wall after getting a new voice at the door.
An officer in his late twenties entered in the interrogation room, and whispered something in the inspector's ear.
The inspector jumped up saying, "Really?" And he rushed out from the interrogation room.
"Arthur." Clearly dissatisfied, Adi narrowed his eyes at the sight of this.
Arthur was just going to rush to get the news but that young officer came in as he informed everyone that a young lady came here, claiming to be a witness of today's incident. They were astonished to hear her saying that someone captured here, was innocent.
Arthur gulped his saliva as he saw Adi's frightening expression. He guessed it must be someone from the Smiths.
Adi frowned. Who came here at this hour, to proof someone's innocence. He sped up to go there as usual.
But his footings halted at the sight of someone very familiar there. She looked towards him and gave him a silly, confused smile.
Adi could not stop himself but saying, "Mantisha! Why are you here?"
-----------
I don't think anybody is innocent here. Then why is she there!
