I turned at stared at my rear in the mirror, there was nothing left to the imagination. The thick material clung to my body like a second skin. I faced the mirror and furrowed my brow at my top. My shoulders were completely exposed along with my tummy.
Is this what humans wore to school?
"Hayley, I don't think this outfit is complete," I called out. I grabbed my small book bag and exited my room. It was just perfect, small and cozy...and private.
I jogged down the stairs and headed into the living room.
"Hayls, I think I need a coat," I paused at the door as all eyes landed on me.
The room fell silent and no one move. I detected a faint shift in the atmosphere. I narrowed my eyes confused and at the edge of being offended. Suddenly the door to the kitchen pushed open and Isaac walked in holding a tray. As his eyes landed on me the tray fell from his hands.
"Oh," he said flustered.
I rolled my eyes, as I realized what was happening.
"To think after spending, however long with you guys, you would be able to resist by now," I said to them except for Angelo's wife and Talon.
"I ahh...forgot," Isaac said with a sneaky smile, bending to take up the fallen tray.
"What..what am I feeling, right now," Angelo's wife whispered to her husband.
"Its difficult to explain but Dawn, just as any other royal has something call a lure." Angelo explained gentle.
"Its very complicated. Its hard to resist and to control but Dawn takes precautions," he continued.
"Talon, are you OK," Hayley asked him. He seemed deep in thought, which after yesterday was not what I thought he'd be doing.
"Talon," Hayley called again, shaking him.
He jolted back to the real world.
"Did i miss somethi-," he abruptly stopped as his eyes landed on me.
"Hot damn," he said. Thats more like it.
"Where are you going dressed like that? You know that this makes you my fake girlfriend, right. If say no, you'll ruin my reputation," he exaggerated stuffing his arms into his pocket.
"No," Hayley said, walking towards me.
"Just because she's hot it does not mean that she's right for your image. You deserve a slim blue eyed blonde with no self respect. Speaking of which where is she," Hayley snapped sassily.
Talon brushed her off. "Your only sassing because you finally grew boobs," he retorted.
Hayley's eyes widen and her face reddened with anger. She grabbed a vase.
"Put that down young lady," Angelo and his wife said in unison.
Hayley sighed and slowly placed it back from where she took it.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name," I said towards Angelo's wife. I had a feeling that I already knew what she would say.
Angelo face palm, surely muttering curses upon himself in Spanish. 'You should divorce me right now,' I caught from his ramblings. I stepped away from the doorway and sat beside her.
"Its is understandable, time and greetings got away from you," she said sweetly. I smiled at her and nod.
"My name is Midley Knight," she introduced. My smile grew, Midnight....
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, why didn't anyone wake me," the franctical sound of Melissa, along with stomping feet.
She flew around the corner and walked right into Hayley and fell, taking the vase from earlier to the ground. It shattered instantly.
"Mel," Isaac said worriedly. He suddenly paused.
And at the scent of the metallic substance that licked the air, I knew why. Blood. Midnights hand latched onto my wrist.
"She relapsed," the dreaded words left her lips as I glimpsed, something white and sharp.
"Hayley, control," Isaac commanded as the head of the house, she had no choice but to obey him.
She hissed, the veins in her neck becoming visible. Her fangs snapped at Mel, sending her frantically beating heart over the edge.
"Mel, don't move," Talon whispered to her as he edged closer to Hayley.
If it was one thing we all knew, Hayley was the fastest of us all, with the blink of an eye she could rip Mel to pieces.
"Hayley, I said stand down," Isaac yelled this time, his patience thinning. His mate was bleeding, inches away from a blood thirsty vampire.
I abruptly rose to my feet as Isaac lost it. He grabbed Hayley's shoulder in an attempt to pull her away but Hayley weaved out of his hold and sent him crashing into the kitchen.
"Sile," my voice floated out as calm as the wind and as still as silence.
Hayley's body went still, her eyes glazed over and her body fell into Talon's arms as he suddenly appeared by her. He rushed her out of the room. Isaac appeared disheveled and went to Mel, who brushed him off and went away.
"Angelo," I heard Midnight whisper to her husband. I turned and they were gone as well.
"I'll do it," I said walking towards, Isaac.
"Your a guest here. I couldn't ask you to do that," he replied.
"And I'm your superior, you have no choice but to do what I tell you," I said folding my arms and staring at his hunger figure.
"Go to your mate, she needs you," I said softly as his eyes met mine. He glanced away and nodded.
As he left and the room was silent. I grabbed a towel and bin from the destroyed kitchen and began to clean the blood and shards away from the floor. As I disposed of the garbage, I sighed. I guess I don't get to see high school today.
I hummed, faith.
Maybe I would go for a walk. I grabbed my black thigh length coat and wrapped it around my body. I opened the front door and breathed in the fresh air. The ground was still moist, the sun peaked from beyond the trees. I lifted my feet and stared at my ankle high heeled boots for a second then shrugged. Whatever happens, happens.
I began my trot.
Its funny how in my mind, I believed I was free but this freedom of mine felt forced. An illusion. The people around me, my family were fighting. I couldn't help but wonder if it was because of me. I sighed, feeling a weight on my chest. I should of went to Rio.
"You are trespassing," a voice echoed behind me.
I immediately turned and saw no one. I furrowed my brow, I was now in forest area. I faced forward once more and felt the breathe left my lungs as I stared into the light brown eyes of a stranger. He stood at about 6ft and a few inches. A scar narrowly missed his eyes, starting at his forehead and ending on his cheeks. As if someone had taken their time, etching it into him.
He tilted his head slightly, causing his hair to fall over the top of the scar. He licked his lips, devious smile playing at it. I buried the urge to gulp and stare at his glistening pink lips. My body went stiff when his nose grazed my cheeks, his breathe fanning over my neck.
He was in my personal space but I didn't want to push him away. It was strange, I had never met this man before but I felt at ease with him. He inhaled deeply and there was a strange rumbling in his chest.
"Run along, little rose," his low deep playful tone rang out to my ears, sending shivers in my spine.
My eyes drifted shut as inhaled in his scent but before I could get a hint, it was gone. I opened my eyes and so was he. I turned in all directions and say no one. Who was he? And what on earth was that glorious encounter. I sighed disappointed and then turned and went home.
