I inhaled deeply sighing with pleasure as the metallic scent of blood, filled my lungs. An unconscious smile graced my lips as I stared down at the bloody and bruised body of, yet another puny human that dared to fight me. The undefeated champion of the ring.
It always I muse me, of my superiority even when I wasn't using my werewolf abilities but the allĀ fell to the ground moving with the first punch to their bodies. But over the years I learned a thing or two from a were at friend of mine. Play. With. Your. Food. It is yours after all, so why the hell not. I have been living by that code for as long as I could remember.
"Here's to the undefeated! Lexus!" the announcer yelled loudly into the mic. The ground roasted in delight.
I stepped out of the ring and pushed- well walked since they parted like the red sea- through the crowd and headed towards the locker rooms. Nayha jumped to his feet open my arrival.
"Trust that your needs are quenched, sire," he said.
"Nah, I feel like caving in one more jaw tonight, if you don't stop calling me that," I said sitting down as I began to unwrap the bloody cloth brim my wrist.
Nayha's heart quickened.
"I'll tell you wait move one muscle and you get the night off," I said sinisterly. I smirked as his body suddenly went rigid but his heart kept pounding away.
"Including the one in the middle of you chest," I said slowly, pulling on my hoodie and turning towards him.
Nayha's eyes widened and he looked confused. With a straight face, I folded my arms and entered his bubble. I towered over him at a few inches. "Follow me and I'll make sure, the only person you see for the rest of your life is my sister," I whispered softly.
Nayha stopped breathing, knowing well what that meant. He then furiously nodded his head. With that confirmation, I walked out of the room, exiting through the back door where my car waited for me.
I got in and began my journey to my house in the woods. According to Nayha, I needed to be closer to the wolves and since the lived close by, all they had to do was knock on my door and I'll just rip their heads off for disturbing me. He didn't actually say the last part but I finished it for him.
My phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out. It was Mateo, he was good friend of deceased uncle and a very loyal lad. He wanted to talk. I sent him the address to a small diner in the middle of town. I parked my car out front and grabbed my wallet. I exited the car and pulled my hood over my head.
I sighed as I entered the shop and took a seat by the counter. I ordered a black coffee and texted Mateo to quick. I needed a shower and it was far pass Medzy's bedtime. I took a sip of my coffee and glanced at a pair of girls as they walked.
There was a short brown haired, younger looking one and ageless familiar looking dark haired one. She was the girl I stumbled upon alone on the road about a week ago. She had a bright radiant smile on her face as opposed to the shock and partial terror that brought a smile to my face.
Mateo texted that he'd be here in 10 minutes, just then a warm presence appeared beside me.
"Hi," I said with a charming smile as I turned to her. Her eyes widened in shock, completely taken by surprise. She sat a seat away from me but I could feel the tension in her bones. Why would a werewolf such as myself be striking up a friendly conversation with a vampire? The answer was very simple, I was up for no good.
"Hi," she said shortly, turning forward slowly, shaking her head politely at the waitress, who came by to take her order.
"I see you found your way home," I said with smile playing at my lips.
"Yes, and I wasn't lost," she retorted.
I shrugged. "But you were, why else would a vampire wonder into werewolf territory," I said with I raised brow turning my body slightly in her direction. She froze, her skipping a beat.
"It..was..a common mistake," she said with shake of her head slightly flustered.
"Don't worry I won't tell the alpha," I said coyly with a smirk.
Finally her magnificent dark eyes met mine. She obviously knew that I was lying. Her stare seemed to challenge me, to tell the truth. I tilted my head truly intrigued. This little vampire felt as if she could challenge me. I loved-
Suddenly a boom cut my line of thought off and a wave of air shattered the glass of the diner. The breathe suddenly left my lungs and wrinkled my brows in confusion as my side burned and the world went black.
My eyes snapped opened and my hand caught the delicate wrist of the hand outstretched to my wound. My chest burned and my skin felt ablaze. A growl ripped from my chest as the darkness gripped at my consciousness. It wasn't the kind of darkness that someone like me would easily walk up from. It was dark and narrow road of fire and brimstone.
"I can't go back," I growled. My head snapped to the wide eyed vampire.
"Don't let me die," my voice came out weak and pathetic, almost like a plea.
"I..I..shift!"
I shook my head slowly, shards of glass swept by hair. Poison ran through my veins like blood. Its potential scent hanging strongly in the air. My body was putting all its energy into fighting the venom. I did not have enough energy in me.
The vampire ran her hand through her hair and glanced around with wide eyes at the other injured people in the diner. Shards of glass and smote from a fire littered the floor. It was then I noticed my car. A dry chuckle escaped my lips, there was not much left of my car.
If i survived this night, no one will survive the next.
"Hayley, stay in the bathroom," the vampire said with a certain authority to her tone. Something primal and commanding. It was then as her eyes met mine, my hand slowly fell from her wrist and I knew why she stared me down.
She grabbed the glass sticking out of my side and pulled the glass stained black from my side and smile fell on my lips.
It would appear that I was in the presence of royalty.
