Chereads / DAWN (Tale of a Templar) / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- ML

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- ML

"You wanted to see me," I drawled out as I walked slowly, up the last few steps of the Hidden temple submerged deep in the woods. So deep average wolves was rumored to chase their own tales trying to find.

I paused at the top of the stairs, staring at the black and white powder. The mage had encircled herself. A smile graced my lips as I stepped forward, my feet inches away from it. I glanced at the hunched form.

"So, what did you want," I said loudly, I was in no mood to have my time wasted.

"There's is royalty in your mids," the low raspy voice of the shivelled being said.

My mind immediately went back to the girl in the road. There was something about her that I couldn't seem to put my finger one. Maybe it was her eyes, they were a unique shade. None like I have ever seen before. Then there was her scent. I chuckled softly as it hung fresh in the air.

"You know," the mage said, raising slightly. I caught a glimpse of pale skin with a slight shimmer. She immediately hid herself.

I shrugged. "How does a royal help me win a war," I said killing the lightness of the conversation.

"Patience," the mage hissed.

"The Alpha King is brittle, you are strong. All you have to do is what I thought you," she coaxed.

I sighed and stared of into the horizon, where the sun rose slowly. The small temple sat on a mountain of stairs. With tall pillars holding up a glass roof. As the sun hit it, a prism of colors, crept along the tiled floor that held runes of all kind.

"What is she," I asked aloud, my eyes focused on one of the few pictures on the floor. It was a woman dressed as a warrior with a weapon that I had never seen before. Littered on the floor were rose petals. My feet moved unconsciously as I caught I glimpse of something that I hadn't seen there on my many visits.

I flinched as my knees connected with the invisible barrier created by the powder.

I chuckled sinisterly, watching as the mage rose to her feet. I slammed my palm onto the barrier causing a loud boom to go through the air like thunder.  The mage flinched. I sighed angrily and turned.

You'd think after five years of casually chatting like pals, she would have trusted me buy now. By the time I reached the bottom of the stairs it was noon. I could have reached earlier but I needed some time away from the leeches that refused to leave my side.

"Was all well, my king," he was answered by growl.

"We..we have found it," he stammered, following closely behind me as I continued into the woods.

Around 20 wolves, was hidden in the trees, creating a small protective circle around me. It irritated me to be followed, to feel as if I was unable to protect myself. But I endured it, for the sake of my pack and the innocents I fight for. Naturally, I had one request.

"If i can hear you so can the enemy," I called out to them.

Ever since they took up the job of my personal guard, they also began their journey of being the greatest warriors. Which meant that they had to work twice as hard as any wolf.

I motioned for Nayha to take the lead, the short man hurried ahead into an clearing up ahead, where more wolfs stood. I paused at the edge of the clearing and leaned against a tree.

"This is it, sire," Nayha sneered. Who would have thought he had it in him.

It was very questionable, considering the vampire in my custody was quite beautiful. I really didn't understand this hate for the undead. The way I saw it, we were just as cursed and impulsive as they were. Creatures of the night forced into a life we wish we didn't have. Wolves were primal and instinctive beings, throughout history we were the ones in the horror stories, tormenting townfolk as they tried to sleep peacefully in their homes. At least the vampires didn't hide their nature.

"We caught her trying to seduce a wolf in town," Nayha's voice faltered at the phrase 'trying to'.

"She was trying to get information out of him, sire," he stammered.

I glanced at the 5ft something inches man, who was about 5 years older than me. He always stammered and I hated it. He also liked to...call me sire. I despised that. Why haven't I killed him yet, I'm not sure. The mage said he was fiercely loyal and wasn't as weak as everyone thought him to be. He was a halfbreed native to very powerful and old pack, so heeded her guidance but day by day he irks me a little more. Along with everybody else, who were rushing to join me. I appreciated it but I believed in trust.

"Well, here I am ask away," I said disinterested, my mind was glazing over the girl from earlier, whilst stressing over the madman that wanted to kill me.

'Slow and steady wins the race', she said.

"I have nothing to say to you mutt," she hissed spitting on the ground in front of me.

All around I could feel the tension of the wolves inside and outside the clearing. They all expected me to get loud and crazy and start ripping heads off. That only happened once but sadly it has been committed to memory.

I slowly walk forward. The two wolves holding either arms of the vampire, let her fall to her knees and stepped a few steps back. I swore these people couldn't take a joke. I stopped in front of the blonde haired women and crouched in front of her.

"You know how I got this scar," I said pointing towards it.

"There are different versions but it ends with a lot of pain and suffering," I said with conflicted expression on my face. Talking about my scar, always did that to me.

"What they should wonder is how I got my title," I said with an amused look, glancing up at the women and men surrounding me.

"The demon wolf," I said softly and slowly.

I hummed.

"I am not afraid to show you how," said staring her dead in the eyes.

"You can't hurt me, I was sent here by the council," she said hurriedly. Her beating furiously in her chest.

"Well then you can give them a message for me," I said leaning back slightly.

"What message," she asked, her heart skipping a beat.

"I'll have to show you," I said, my fingers grazing her chin slightly.

Her scared eyes darted from left to right.

"Look into my eyes," I said softly.

As her eyes met mind, the world faded into a mist of red and chaos descended.
