Arriving where Harris's group were. Dean could see that they each were holding brooms. The women were holding weapons as well, Dean was impressed with their fairness, if they had instead only made Lucas and Roxas hold weapons he would have been disappointed in the group. He didn't believe that women shouldn't need to fight and that they should also have to learn to protect the things that they wanted. This world wasn't going to protect them just because they were women.
Before Dean had rushed to the infected woman Harris had told everyone to go find weapons and protect themselves. Although Sophia was reluctant to let her husband go towards the danger she knew that he wanted to save as many people as he could, his big heart was what made her fall in love with him. They were nearest to the cleaning aisle and didn't have that many options to use for weapons, not that a supermarket had that many weapons in the first place. It would've been counterintuitive to rush into potential danger to find things that could protect them.
"Harris, I think your group should go and stock up on food and supplies"
"Okay, what are you going to do?"
"I want to go look around the building and make sure that the entrances are closed properly, I'll grab some supplies as well"
Harris handed the sleeping girl to his wife to look after. She was more experienced with handling children and would be better suited when she woke up.
Dean went to survey the building coming across other groups of people crying and comforting each other. Most had seen his battle, they gave him mixed looks. Some looked at him as a monster that killed someone with ease, while others felt thankful for him being the one to fight the zombified woman. Dean didn't care how they felt towards him, he had just wanted to make sure that this place was safe.
'My head is sore just thinking about how much trouble it would've been if I didn't rush to kill it'
Dean walked towards where the drugs were and started to fill a plastic bag with as much as he could carry. Pain reliefs, bandages and alcohol wipes were his priority. Since he speculated that if infected blood managed to enter through your body, bandages would be an essential resource to cover cuts and other injuries. The pain in his head had also come back when he was fighting the zombie. It felt much better compared to before so he decided not to take any more pills, it had also not even been more than an hour since he first took some. He didn't want to accidentally overdose.
As Dean was checking any opening in the store he started to reflect on the battle again. He wanted personal strength and thought an essential step was reflecting on oneself to know how to improve. He had done this mostly when he was learning to cultivate. He had to make sure that when training he was following the same steps with no errors. He often had to review how his body felt after one session and the next, comparing the sensations to have a clear idea what differed.
'In the battle it felt like I could see all the moves the zombie was going to make before it even made them. My perception was never this high before but for some reason I feel like I could have ended it much quicker'
'As I was focusing more on dodging and evading attacks my eyes were accurately managing distance and judging if my body would have enough room, I wonder what would've happened if I was also counter attacking at the time'
'Would I still have been able to accurately dodge the attacks? I want to try fighting again, but I don't think it would be a good idea to let the zombies inside here or face them with no proper weapon. This knife isn't very good and fire takes to long, it wouldn't be a good choice if I have to face multiple of them. The end results are also discomforting'
'It's decided then, I need to find a good weapon'
As Dean's thoughts started to end, he saw Sang-Woo at the entrance of the store. He was by himself and was looking outside the door. Dean didn't want to talk to him but Sang-Woo started to approach him.
"Mr Dean, let's talk for a bit"
Dean frowned at Sang-Woo's words, he had no need to hold back his thoughts now that they were alone.
"Don't want to"
Sang-Woo smiled at those words. He had a gift of knowing people's emotions which let him be an amazing lawyer. He could tell that Dean and him were impossible to get along with.
"Don't be like that Mr Dean, I just wanted to tell you something"
"Whatever you want to say shouldn't leave your twisted tongue"
Sang-Woo's smile left his face hearing those words. It would seem that this person in front of him was disregarding whatever he wanted to say. His mask of friendliness and care disappeared, replaced with an impassive and passionless face.
"Fine, I'll keep it short. Don't get in my way, you're not the only person that can kill those things"
Sang-Woo tried to leave after saying that but Dean stopped him.
"I don't think it's very wise to threaten someone who has "already" killed. I don't care what you think you can do, thinking about it and doing it are two entirely different things. "
Dean's cold tone and icy stare made Sang-Woo feel some fright at those words. Sang-Woo wanted to avoid looking at those brown abyss-like eyes, but his pride didn't allow him to look away. He had to say something to fuel his ego and not let it extinguish from Dean's warning.
"Even you won't be able to stop a group of people, and if you do end up killing them I'll just send some more, fueled with even more hatred from your deeds "
Sang-Woo left after saying that. Dean had no thoughts of being a pushover like a shounen MC in the apocalypse. He wouldn't indiscriminately go on a killing rampage but he would be ruthless to his enemies. Sang-Woo was turning into someone that he had to kill sooner or later, but he couldn't kill him in front of other people. Not unless he had enough power to face off a group by himself. He would be labeled as a murderer and possibly killed, killing a zombie was fine as most people wouldn't want to get their hands dirty but killing another human would make people see him as evil. It was a weird moral compass. People would feel disgusted having to butcher an animal themselves but would happily eat store bought meat.
Dean decided to go back to Harris's group, this entrance was the last place he had to check. This building had only 4 different ways for zombies to break in. The docking bay was on the left side of the building which was securely closed since no one was working due to the blackhole. There was a back door in the employees break room which was barricaded with shelves and a fire exit on the right side of the building shut tightly. This entrance was the last place to check as there were no big enough windows that zombies could fit through.
