Harris and the rest of the group had moved the barricade that was blocking the back exit door. Roxas's jealous eyes were glued tightly on what Harris was wearing. It was a suit of armor.
Dean instructed Harris to be the leading person and tank the zombies. While everyone was making Molotov's and smokescreens Harris was tasked in making his armor. Harris knew his way around tools and crafting things. His work as a construction worker had made him learn how to handle different kinds of materials.
He with the help of Dean had cut the metal shelves from an aisle to make metal plates. There didn't need to be too many as a full body suit would only make it more difficult to move. Only the vital parts such as upper body, shins and arms needed to be guarded but it still made him look like a knight.
Heating the metal he had bent them to fit his body and used metal wire to securely tie it to himself. He also had a shield that could cover his torso made from the shelves as well. His big size would easily move the shield around his body and push the zombies out of the way.
Everyone else was wearing armor made from plastic soda bottles. Dean had found inspiration from the movie "world war z" and copied the idea.
"Are we really going to leave Dean behind?"
"Yeah, he said that he'll be quick, he has something else to do"
"Will big brother be alright with the other people?"
The group looked hesitant hearing those words from Abigail. They knew what she meant and couldn't help but sigh thinking that her thoughts were unlike a child. A group had come by earlier and were trying to take them somewhere, they could see that the group of people were holding knives and had no friendly intentions towards them. The group were lucky enough to have been wearing the bags full of supplies and showed that they had a Molotov. Kim Hannah's fists clenched and tightly gripped the spear broom. Dean had made a promise to her that no one but them knew. She was full of desire that he and the group of people here could escape. She was no longer depressed over her mothers death since she was given a reason to live.
Dean was currently at the left side of the building near the docking bay doors. All the independent groups were impatiently waiting there.
Back when Sang Woo was convincing Harris to tell him information, Dean had gone to go look for the fat man Royce. Dean knew that Sang Woo was trying to gather as many people under him so he blackmailed the man who was closest to Sang Woo to tell all the independent groups to gather in the docking bay. Royce was an even greedier person than Sang Woo and didn't mind putting him under the bus if his own public reputation was kept.
The groups were reluctant to follow orders from someone who was a part of the group forcing people to go under them. However when the news that the entrance barricade was destroyed they could only go here or help fight the zombies. Most of the people were still undecided to kill the zombies and others didn't want to dirty themselves with blood. They thought that this place was going to be safe and let them avoid fighting.
Dean went directly to the door and unlocked it from the hatch. The people who saw him didn't stop him, the door was super heavy and could only be opened with the electrical gears. They had made sure of this the first day checking the exits and one man wouldn't be able to make it even budge.
Dean's muscles bulged, he tightened his grip on the door, leaned his whole body to add support and he started to push the huge door open. The people were stupefied at the scene, as Dean continued to push the door open till halfway they had only just remembered that the man was opening the door to the outside.
They immediately rushed to stop him, but it was too late.
"Hmph, you all better start running away or fight"
'The inside is being swarmed from two entrances now'
Dean had no qualms making them fight. He didn't want innocent people to die but these people were trying to avoid the responsibility of fighting. Most of them will die but the survivors will learn that they have to learn how to fight. The current zombies were easy to kill with practice and now would be the time to train people's minds. When the further mutant zombies start appearing they'll all have died without fighting now. Dean knew that what he was doing wasn't good but it was much better for them in future. If he had to play the bad guy to let people survive he would gladly.
The group of fear stricken people hurriedly picked up their weapons while some ran away seeing the horde of zombies rush in.
Dean quickly jumped away from a zombie that had tried to pounce on him, and started to run outside. The horde was easy to dodge with his enhanced body. Dean's senses were kicked into overdrive. This was the first time that he was experiencing so much input from his awareness, he nimbly avoided the attacks from the zombies and kept his focus on the space around him. As he ran outside the building first, a large portion of zombies from the horde followed him. Which would leave little zombies changing into the building.
Compared to his first battle with the zombie in the store, this was infinitely harder to manage the distance from every direction. He had counter attacked a few times with the knife spear but quickly continued to retreat.
'I guess this many should be more than enough'
Grabbing a Molotov from his bag and lighting it he threw it directly at a big bunch of zombies. The liquid inside splashed everywhere and caught aflame burning them. The flame was clear due to using hand sanitizer but it still burned well. Dean then threw a smoke screen at the zombies charging at him, breathed in deeply and quickly sprinted to the other side of the building.
At the other side of the building, Harris was charging through multiple zombies with his armor and huge body. His shield was in front of him and rammed against anything in the front. Lucas was the most accurate with throwing the Molotov's and smokescreens. He was a perfectionist and took every action he made with utmost care. His mind wouldn't let him miss any shots but this led him to be extra fatigued being so focused.
Alice and Roxas were fighting with the spears in a cooperative manner. The two siblings were displaying a high level of teamwork and could be left to cover a side from the zombies. One would attack the legs of a zombie, forcing it to stop while the other would deal the finishing blow.
Sophia was tasked with making sure that Abigail was still following and directing Harris on where to go. She had to navigate where they were and what direction to meet with Dean. It was slightly hard considering that she also had to fight now and again.
Kim Hannah was making sure that the back was left open and killed any zombies before they could surround them.
As they moved through the main street they were growing more and more tired.
"Phuu, he's finally here"
Dean had finally managed to reach the other side of the building. He quickly saw that the group were fighting well and decided to help them.
Since he was no longer being surrounded by a large amount of zombies by himself, he was now able to fight to his hearts content. He slashed and dodged flawlessly and wherever he moved he would leave corpses of zombies. His speed and strength were shocking to the group. He had almost killed the same amount of zombies as all of them combined.
"Looks like you all are doing good"
"Oppa are we going to go there right now?"
"No, I still need to do something else"
Dean glanced at Kim Hannah and nodded at her. She also silently nodded and didn't say anything more.
"I'll be quick so all of you can rest somewhere and wait for me"
The group nodded at those words. It would be much safer if they took a break before continuing down the street. Although they could still fight, they were tired and out of Molotov's and had few remaining smokescreens.
Dean rushed back inside the store. He needed to grab someone to keep his promise with Kim Hannah and needed to tie up other loose ends before leaving the store.
