The group in the building were watching the fight in earnest. They were first worried about Dean facing that monster but as they watched the fight they grew shocked. They had witnessed Sang Woo turn into a concrete beast and started to rampage, but seeing the hole in space that Dean was able to create was even more shocking.
They felt dumbfounded at the superpowers that the two were displaying. They shouldn't have been that surprised about seeing superpowers that could only exist in movies and fiction. They were living with zombies after all, but superpowers were more shocking since Dean was human, or should be. The group were fantasizing about if they could also get powers. They couldn't think the same of being a zombie since well they'd not be themselves.
All their eyes were glued to the same spot the moment Dean jumped into the air. Their eyes went wide and they felt like crying seeing Dean be impaled by the arm. They then felt relieved seeing that the head of Sang Woo fell off but quickly grew anxious again seeing that Dean was not moving. They rushed out to go check on him.
Kim Hannah quickly wielded a knife and started to cut the arm off from Sang Woo's body. His headless corpse laid next to Dean while his arm was still stuck. For some reason the body was fragile and easily cut from Kim Hannah's knife. She was confused but couldn't think of the reason for being too worried about Dean.
"Harris the shield, lift him up slowly and carefully put him on top"
Kim Hannah was quick and efficient at responding to the crises. The siblings and Harris felt teary seeing the amount of blood that surrounded an even paler man than usual. Harris quickly put his shield down and with the help of the siblings they carefully placed Dean on it.
As they were doing that blood started to flow out of Dean's wound from being moved. Kim Hannah quickly took off her jacket and mounted Dean, she then started to apply pressure on the bleeding area with her jacket. They still couldn't take the arm out of the wound until they had the means to stop the bleeding quickly.
They quickly moved Dean into the building with Kim Hannah uptop of him. In the building Sophia and Lucas saw the scene and quickly made an area where they could do treatment.
They didn't have any proper surgery tools and the medical supplies they had packed wasn't good enough for this situation. Kim Hannah frowned at the supplies she was given.
The injuries that Dean had was too severe to be treated with only this but it was all they had so they could only hope that everything went well.
Kim Hannah quickly told everyone what to do.
"I'm starting"
The arm was removed and blood spilled out. The intestines and organs were visible inside the hole. The organs pulsated alongside Dean's heartbeat and quickly started to lose their healthy colour without enough blood. Dean groaned and his body moved erratically, forcing the siblings and Harris to restrain him from moving.
Kim Hannah started to inspect the wound and started to clean out any non living tissue as fast as possible. It was a bloody sight to watch. Lucas was tasked with handing tools to Kim Hannah and assisted with small tasks such as holding the tissue in place. Sophia was bringing wet rags to wipe away the blood that obstructed the view.
It had been less than one minute since they removed the hand.
"Tch…He's losing too much blood, quickly give me the knife"
Lucas gave a knife that was red hot to Kim Hannah.
"Lucas, close the hole tight and don't let go. Also the rest hold his limbs down tightly and firmly"
The group nodded at those words and Kim Hannah proceeded to place the hot knife on the skin. She had wanted to stitch the wound close but that would take too much time and Dean didn't have enough blood to lose. This would be a more painful method but it should have more positive results.
Dean's body started to convulse uncontrollably and he started to move wildly. His groans were evident with how much pain he was going through. The group fastened their grip on him and kept his limbs still to not obstruct Kim Hannah.
The skin started to burn and started to expose the pink flesh underneath. A faint smell of human fat started to spread to everyone's noses, still Kim Hannah kept the knife there. Then the pink flesh started to turn black alongside a sizzle sound and started to burn the remaining skin to close. A festering pus liquid leaked from the wound but soon burned alongside the skin. Cauterizing the wound prevented any more blood loss and would burn off the remaining damaged tissue that Kim Hannah wasn't able to properly remove.
"Phew"
Kim Hannah finished cauterizing the wound and then started to apply ointment then bandaged the wound. They didn't need to worry about zombie blood entering his body. Sang Woo's hands were hardened and blood dripped off easily. Dean's blood was also falling off the hand so any blood from a zombie shouldn't have been left after that long battle. There was also the fact that Sang Woo was hit by his own hands the same way so if anything it was his blood that they had to worry about.
Kim Hannah decided to analyse the hand now that Dean was no longer in such a critical condition. She needed to stay near him anyway in case something unexpected happened. She could've secretly analysed his body but she didn't want to imagine the consequences she'd face when Dean woke up and found out that she examined his body without his permission.
"You all should go somewhere else, I don't believe the zombies will remain gone for much longer now that the battle has ended"
The group moved Dean into another room as it was bloody and unfit for resting. They decided to move him where Abigail was resting, since she also was exhibiting strange symptoms and had a burning fever.
The group then left and decided to monitor the building.
"I wonder if oppa will wake up today"
"Who knows, his wound was pretty bad. I think it would be more believable that he only wakes up in a week"
"Hmm"
"Don't worry about it sis, miss Kim Hannah said that he should be fine now and just needs to rest. So that his body can naturally adapt with his wounds and start to heal"
"Yeah, I guess you're right"
"Hahah, of course I am, I've secretly been a doctor in another life and got to have many wifes…."
Alice quickly hit her brother's head and stormed away from him. Roxas was rubbing his head and commented so that she couldn't hear.
"Still as orge like as usual"
Alice ran back and hit her brother in the stomach.
It had been a day since Dean had surgery. The siblings were tasked with surveying the building and taking out any zombies that they could manage. The large horde of zombies had come back after the fight ended so the group decided to kill small groups that wouldn't alert more zombies.
It was training for themselves as well as a precaution that they don't get trapped inside the building. The supermarket was now swarming with zombies so they couldn't grab anymore supplies. They went to other buildings and took any supplies that they found to their base. They had no idea how long Dean was going to be unconscious and couldn't exactly move quickly carrying him. Cars were an option but the zombies were too numerous and would swarm the car quickly. There were no cars in the area that wouldn't be flipped from the numerous zombies. So they could only wait till Dean woke up.
"Big sis!"
"Hi Abby"
Abigail had woken up in the night waking up Sophia who was next to her. Sophia brought her to see Kim Hannah who had said that she was also mutating. The group felt slightly anxious thinking back to Sang Woo since they didn't know the information Dean had inferred. They kept Abigail close to someone at all times to make sure that she didn't turn berserk. The little girl knew that the people around her were wary of her but she didn't mind since she could feel that it wasn't from a negative feeling but more sincere worry about her. She was glad and felt happy with everyone's care.
"Big brother is getting better and should wake up soon"
Alice didn't want to dishearten the young girl so she just smiled and nodded.
Roxas decided to cook food after washing up. Since there was no water plumbing everyone could only clean themselves with a wet cloth and some water.
Everyone was happily eating the food. Kim Hannah was writing down the data that she had gathered from analysing Sang Woo's hand. She was talking with Lucas as he was somewhat capable of understanding her words.
The girls were chatting happily and giggling about some unknown things while Harris sat quietly thinking about things. The smell of delicious food spread through the floor they were staying in.
Dean limped out of his room and went to Roxas and grabbed some food.
The group stared wide eyed at Dean and all rushed to hug him.
"Uh huh, not happening"
Dean swiftly dodged them and sat down next to Kim Hannah. He struggled to move properly but they didn't want to hurt him so their movements were also awkward. The group were sad at how Dean didn't let them hug him.
"Sigh…He's still injured so don't make him move around to much"
Kim Hannah told them off. She then started to inspect the wound while Dean hurriedly ate.
"Amazing, simply amazing"
Dean's wound was almost completely healed. A scar still remained but compared to the gaping hole this was simply incredible. The cauterized flesh was healed and looked healthy, as if it was never burnt.
"I guess being mutated has many effects"
"Yeah, but I still sluggish"
"That's probably from the blood loss, but the energy your body needed to heal such a big wound would also be a substantial amount too"
Dean continued to eat non stop for about 30 minutes; he had even started to eat the canned food when Roxas wasn't able to keep up with his eating. He told Kim Hannah what he had learnt about mutators and evolvers and that they shouldn't worry that much for Abigail. Kim Hannah had shown him her notes as well. The group talked with Dean and expressed all their feelings about his fight.
Dean sighed at the group who were clearly excited. He had just woken up and wasn't someone who liked noise that much. He tried telling the group to be quiet but they instead sat near him and had puppy eyes to have him show his power. He reluctantly showed them and told them to go away so that he could chat with Kim Hannah.
Roxas stayed and continued to cook food for Dean. His body was aching from having made at least 10 dishes in less than 30 minutes.
