Later when they got done with breakfast, Feng Shufen came in the room.
"Tang Ning," he called and she turned to look at him. "Feng Shufen," she said and stood up.
"How is the patient doing?" he asked looking at him. "He is feeling better, thanks for asking," she replied before turning to look at her father and said," Father, this is Feng Shufen. An old student in high school." He smiled at him realizing that the name seemed familiar and he recalled that he was the same boy that Tang Moyu often fought with her sister. So this was the man, he thought.
"It is nice meeting you Mr Feng," he said. "The pleasure is mine," he replied. "He is also the owner of life global hospital, where we are now," she said. "Ohh! This young man?" he asked surprised. Feng Shufen gave a light laugh before saying," Not really Mr Tang. I am not that young." "How old are you?" he asked.
"I'm making twenty six in a few months." "Even then. You're young to own such a big hospital," he said.
"I have just bought it Mr Tang," he replied. "Okay, I now understand" he said.
When the room became silent, he looked at Tang Ning and asked," Did you sleep comfortably?"
"Yes, thank you" she replied. "Alright. You just have to let me know when you need anything. I will be in my office."
When he left, her father asked," Isn't he the same boy that created problems with your sister?"
Sighing, she replied," Yes but I promise that it won't happen again. There's totally nothing going on between us." "I think he's a good boy," he commented. "You're right. Feng Shufen is kind," she said. "But, from what I see he doesn't seem to have given up on you. Don't you feel anything for him?"
At the question, she blushed and said," Come on father. I can't discuss such things with you." "Why not?" "Because it is embarrassing,"she answered looking away shyly.
"I don't think it is. I am your father after all, tell me." "Father no. Okay I... admit I felt something towards him but not anymore. It was in the past." "Are you sure?" he asked and she nodded. "Alright then. What about your sister? Does she like the boy?" "Oh father. You're soon transforming into a gossiping mother," she said sarcastically. "I don't care, tell me." "I don't know father. You should ask her," she replied. "You know that Moyu cannot share such things with me," he said and the door opened to reveal the nurses who had come to examine him. Tang Ning was more than glad to step outside and escape the conversation.
Visiting the washrooms, she was washing her hands when she felt her phone vibrating.
Drying her hands on her pants, she picked it to see the line of the Jing household. Picking up, she said," Hello?" "Pretty auntie, how are you?" she heard little Huan's voice. "I'm fine little Huan. How are you doing?" she asked. "I am not okay," she said. "Why? Is anything wrong with you dear?" she asked as she walked out of the washroom. "I miss you and Juan too," she said.
"I understand baby but I am in the... still dealing with some things," she said. "Alright. When are you coming back?" "I don't know when exactly but very soon dear," she said. "Fine but don't take so long there," she said. "I won't. But please behave and don't trouble the auntie I left you with. Okay?" she asked. "Yes. Juan and I have been good children. We go to bed early and we don't disturb our daddy," she said proudly.
"That is so good of you. Is your daddy still home?" asked Tang Ning. "Yes. We are here playing with daddy," she said and Tang Ning felt embarrassed asking about him when he's around. "Do you want to talk to him?" she asked. "No no baby. Someone is calling me and I have to go," she said hurriedly. "Okay bye bye pretty auntie," she said and the call ended.
She placed it back in her pocket and went to sit in front of the room. While she was there, she heard someone sit besides her and she turned to see Daiyu who seemed to be in a sour mood. "Hey, what is it?" she asked. She didn't reply and Tang Ning realized that she was still in her casual clothes.
"You've just arrived?" she asked and she nodded. "Where were you? Still at your parents house?" she asked. "Yes. I'm so pissed right now," she hissed. "Relax and tell me what happened," said Tang Ning.
She knew how Daiyu hated going to her parent's house.
"Can you imagine what parents called me for?" she asked and Tang Ning shook her head. "Apparently, they want me to get married to the young master of the Ji family. He was at our house and his parents too. They were discussing about the wedding dates as if we had agreed about the arrangement," she said with a grim expression on her face. "Oh, I'm sorry. So what did you tell them?" "Of course I told them that I wasn't getting married. And they said that I will," she said. "That is bad now. You know how your parents are, they will do everything to make your life impossible," she said. "I don't care. They have done it already. They froze all my bank accounts and I provide for myself. What more can they do?" she asked.
Tang Ning didn't believe that they can't do more because she knew the Songs very well.
"What if you try talking to the man? Maybe he can convince them that he doesn't want to get married to you," Tang Ning reasoned. "I did all that yesterday. We talked and he told me that he didn't like the idea of the marriage either but it's the condition his parents gave him to put him in charge of the family business. So, he's in full support of the marriage for that matter," she said.
"What are you going to do now?" asked Tang Ning out of options. "I don't know but I will definitely figure out something. I should go before they realize that I am this late," she said getting up. "Alright dear. Don't worry everything will be fine. You'll see," she said and Daiyu left.
She felt pity for her friend who always wanted to be independent. Sighing, she stood up and went to her father's room.
