She internally groaned before turning around and walked back to where he was standing.
"Thank you. I guess I was in a rush," she said as she collected it from him.
"I will first call and ask if she's already here," she informed such that he could go ahead without her. "Alright," he replied and made way inside.
Stepping aside, she decided to call Daiyu. "I'm at sweet delicacy. Where are you?" she asked. "I'm on my way. Get in and I will find you inside," she said. "Did you make a reservation?" she asked. "Yes. It is table number twenty one." "Alright but hurry up because I don't want to take long," she informed before hanging up.
Stepping inside, she looked around for Mr Jing Yue but failed to see him since the place was flocked. She walked to the counter and was later ushered to the table where she sat waiting for her friend. She got busy on her phone so that she could distract her mind and pass time. Not long after, she heard footsteps and raised her eyes to see Feng Shufen. Her eyes widened in surprise," You! What are you doing here?" "I needed to talk to you. Please don't go,"he said as he took his seat. "So this was a plan? I thought I was coming to meet Daiyu." "Yes and you're going to see her. I will just take a few moments of your time," he said. Seeing her get her purse as if ready to leave, he said," This is the last time I will be bothering you. I promise." On hearing that, she slowly placed back her purse on the table and asked," What do you want?"
"Let's order something at least," he said before gesturing for the waiter to come.
Tang Ning got her phone and sent Daiyu a message,'Thanks for making a fool out of me.' The next moment she raised her eyes, they landed on her boss who was walking out of the restaurant but with his eyes fixated on the two of them. It was then she realized that he had seen her with a man and he might think that she had come to meet him.
She cupped her face with both hands and mumbled," What have I just done."
Feng Shufen on noticing this looked behind him to check who she was looking at but he found everyone on their business.
"Is something wrong?" he asked and she removed her hands. "Yes. My boss just saw us now. He will think that I abandoned work just to come and meet a man,"she said. "Where's he?" he asked looking around. "He just left. I might end up being fired because of you." "I will be willing to take responsibility and also be there for you," he replied. She pulled her hair frustratedly as she glared at him.
"Tang Ning, I want to know what wrong I did to you because as far as I remember, I should be the one offended since you broke my heart. You made me believe that our feelings were mutual and you backed out at the last minute," he said. At the words, she felt guilty and she said," You have never wronged me Feng Shufen and I don't have any problem with you. Let's not dwell in the past. You are a successful doctor now and I too have my own life."
"Was she really your daughter?" he asked. "Yes," she replied. "She is... beautiful just like you," he replied. He had decided not to judge her for having a child because he didn't know of the tough choices she had to make.
"Thank you. She is indeed beautiful," she added. "Who is the father?" he asked. "That is personal information." "You're right and I know that. I just want to know if he deserves you and if he treats you like the way he is supposed to." "You should not worry about me," she said as she called Daiyu," I can perfectly take care of myself."
When Daiyu picked up, she said," I'm leaving."
"I'm just outside. Let me come in," she informed before hanging up.
"I know that you can take care of yourself and I don't doubt that. But at least let's be friends like in the past. I won't trouble you with the past and I will be there for you in anything," he said. "Alright Feng Shufen. Friends that's it," she said and looked at the entrance to see Daiyu getting in," She's here."
She walked to where they were and she smiled apologetically before saying," I'm sorry for taking long." Tang Ning glared at her while Feng Shufen got up.
"I will take my leave. Don't forget that I'm just a call away," he told her before looking at Daiyu and said," Thank you."
"Did you see him?! He looks so handsome," she said as she pulled a chair for herself. "Why did you do this to me Daiyu?" she asked. "Do what?" "You didn't tell me that he was going to be here." "You wouldn't have come then."
"My boss saw me with him yet I told him that I was coming to meet you. He must be thinking of the worst about me. That I neglected my job to meet with men," she said. "He was here?" she asked. "Yes," she replied.
"Sorry. But if he becomes so hard on you then Feng Shufen can help you. He's a millionaire." "I don't find that funny Daiyu. Not what you did either," she said.
"Listen, the truth is that I had no intention of doing this. He was talking about you yesterday and I accidentally mentioned that I was meeting with you today. He insisted that I help him speak with you for a few minutes and you know that he is my supreme boss. There's no way I could refuse him."
Taking a deep breath, Tang Ning said," Let's get out of here. I have to be on my way back."
"Let's first grab some pineapple buns. We shall leave afterwards," Daiyu suggested. When they were brought, the two munched on them but Tang Ning's thoughts were on her boss wondering how he was going to react.
