They sat at the back leaving only the chauffeur in the front. Jing Yue was carrying the sleeping Huan on his lap while Tang Ning's eyes were fixated outside the window in hopes of distracting her mind from the excruciating pain she was feeling. When it became unbearable for her, sighs escaped her lips and she folded her knees before resting her chin on them.
"You're alright?" she heard her boss ask and she turned to look at him. "Y-yes," she replied, her voice hoarse and her eyes somewhat glistened with tears. "You're sure?" he asked and she nodded.
Jing Yue's eyes were fixated on her as she looked back outside. He didn't like the fact that she was trying to hide her pain because it was clear that she wasn't fine. He had heard that period cramps were painful and that women became so sensitive whenever they were in the cycle.
A while later, he said," Pull over at the next drug store you find."
"Alright sir," replied the chauffeur.
Reaching the pharmacy, the car came to a halt and he looked at Tang Ning then said," Give him the name of the medicine that will help you relieve the pain." "It is not necessary M-" "You know it is," he interrupted and she told him the name of the pain killers.
A while later, he came back and they continued home.
Reaching the house, she came off the car and walked straight to her room. Locking the door, she immediately got a bottle of water and hurriedly took the medicine. She then climbed her bed and laid flat on it.
In the morning, Tang Ning opened her eyes and a yawn escaped her lips. As she looked at the ceiling, her mind registered the events of yesterday. She couldn't remember how she left the car, or when she fell asleep.
Mr Jing Yue discovered that she went in her period and he spared her the shame. He not only did that for her but he also took them to the pharmacy and they got her pills. How kind and gentle, she thought. Thanks to the pills she had taken, she was now feeling better. Getting up, she walked to the bathroom to take a bath.
When she went to the twins' rooms, she woke them up and prepared them for breakfast.
Going to the dining room, they ate by themselves and she was glad that her boss had already left for work because she didn't know how to face him.
In the afternoon when she had just come from the kitchen, she got a call from Daiyu.
"I want to see you. It has been long," she told her. "It's because you're always busy at the hospital. When do you want to see me?" she asked. "Let's meet tomorrow around noon," she said. "I honestly don't know if I can make it but I will try. Where though?" "Let's meet in this new restaurant I told you about." "Sweet delicacy?" asked Tang Ning. "Yes. I will be waiting for you there," she replied.
The next day thus, Tang Ning started preparing herself at noon. Checking in her clothes, she came across a black dress which her father had gifted her on her last birthday. She wondered if she should wear it, and not her usual sweater pants.
When she got done with dressing up, she went to check the twins again and asked them to behave and not trouble the maid in whose care she had left them.
On stepping outside, she looked around for a cab but spotted none, and she decided to walk.
As she was still walking, she spotted a familiar black sedan coming her way and on looking at the plate number, she internally screamed. What was he doing here?!! As expected, it stopped right at her and the mirrors rolled down.
"Uh, good afternoon Mr Jing Yue?" she greeted. "Good afternoon," he replied looking at her questioningly. "I-I am so sorry for not informing you beforehand. It's just that, I got a call from a friend and she told me that she needed someone to talk to urgently," she said.
When he didn't reply and only kept looking at her, she added,
"But it's okay. I can go back home."
"Get in," he told her and she walked to open the door before sitting in.
When he started the car, he said," I will drop you off to where you're going but first, I have to get back home and get something." She was surprised and she nodded her head at the same time. She had thought that he was taking her back home. "Thank you," she replied turning to look outside.
When he reached, he parked outside the house and walked inside to get what he had come for.
Not long after, he came back with an envelope and he started the car, driving away.
After thirty minutes of silence, he said," How are you feeling?" Feeling? She wondered what he meant until she registered it. "I'm alright," she replied, looking outside so as to hide her flushed face.
A while later, she looked at him and said," Uh, Mr Jing Yue, I want to thank you for everything you did for me that day." "It was nothing. I did what every person would do." She nodded at his words and she said," I appreciate you still." After driving a certain distance, he surprised her when he asked," How is your father doing?"
"He's alright thank you." "Is he in proper care?" "Yes. I got him a care taker," she said before adding," You can drop me here Mr Jing Yue. I take the other route." "Where are you going?" he asked. "At sweet delicacy," she replied. "I will drop you there. I love their egg rolls," he said much to her disappointment. "Thank you so much," she replied.
Reaching the restaurant, he parked and she quickly came out, not wanting to be seen with him and create misunderstandings. As she was quickly walking away, she heard," You left your phone."
