Levitating up in the air, her feet almost touching the tips of the grass, she could not help but feel as if someone was after her.

But each time, she turned around, she came face to face with nothingness, except for the seeping darkness of the twilight and the white fog of the cold, there was no trace of any living being behind.

She could not help but stop right at the edge of the land separating the forest from the valley.

She knew that she ought to go inside and tonight, there was no turning around and leaving for another time.

"If you go in, there is no returning!"

And just about when she was going to forward her right foot in, the familiar voice made her halt in her movement.

"What are you doing here?"

She could not help but ask about seeing the same shepherd man, the one whose neck was underneath the tip of her blade. The one who could have been vanquished by the wrath of her flame if his sister had not appeared on the spot.

Was not the message clear that he must stay away from her? Keep away from following like that again.

"Is it not obvious that I followed you?"

Ruqui came ahead, from the bushes and stood right before her.

"Please I beg you to not overthink this situation. I have no places to go to..."

Before she would end up putting his life under threat again, he spoke out.

Her scrutinizing gazes of course gave him that kind of similar vibes before she lashed onto him with the flames if not for his sister, Cynthira's appearance, he would have long ago breathed his last on this world.

"What does it have anything to do with following me?"

Ambrosia questioned. And from the talks of it so far, Ruqui could tell that the Princess was not very much of a cordial being.

"I have no home to go back to..."

He looked down and she could relate to that feeling but she did not let him see her emotions underneath her skin.

She had been homeless for a few days by then and the feeling of it even though it was foreign to her before, by then it felt very awful.

As if even after the poetic way of putting it that the entire world was your home, yet there would only be a certain place in this big world that would end up feeling like your home.

And Ambrosia had to relive that feeling over and over again since the day she had escaped from the palace back in the capitol.

"So? Go back to anywhere. "

She shrugged it off and he eyed her weirdly as if she did not understand what had happened or was pretending to not to.

"Didn't you hear it from my sister?

I cannot just go back anywhere there...I cannot!"

He shook his head negatively. And the Princess glared at him as if he was being only over dramatic about the situation.

"If I do...they would make me marry her by hook or crook...and I do not want that..."

He let out. And as if that feeling of relating to whatever he was saying, she could relate to very well had started to annoy her at that point.

She was aware of it too that if she had returned back, her mother, the Queen would not hesitate to resume back the wedding with full glamour and might once again.

No wonder why she was left with no viable alternative but to choose to run away from the palace and the Capitol altogether.

"Didn't you also run away to escape your wedding with the mortal Prince?"

And that very moment, he had said that out loud, it made her look back at him as if taken aback by the kind of information he possessed even after leaving in the very outskirts of the kingdom.

The only might of rumors was that it indeed traveled way faster than any viable information.

"It is different!"

Ambrosia parted her eyes from him, trying to act indifferent about it. Ruqui could see right through her and pressed it.

"No. It is not! To say, Princess, we are trapped in a very similar situation.

We both ran away from our homes to escape a wedding that we were not willing to..."

And if he put it that way, it was indeed the truth. Ambrosia remained to stand on her ground of acting unconcerned.

"At least we share some kind of similarity on that..."

Ruqui chuckled, finding the position of the princess to pretend as if it did not faze her a bit hilarious.

"No! We do not! And stop following me!"

The Princess gritted her teeth together, getting annoyed that a mere shepherd was by then making fun of her situation.

"You cannot decide that for me!"

Ruqui pointed it out. As per the civil code of the kingdom of Saunders, every being had their free will, threatened only if an emergent situation stemmed in the land.

"I have my own free will to decide where to go, where to not go, who to follow, not follow..."

"Shut those lips right now, you Moron!"

It made Ruqui silenced right away as he felt her temper rising from the tone of her voice.

He was clearly getting on her nerves at that moment. It was clear that the Princess of the Palace was not very patient in her demeanor.

"I have wasted enough of my precious time on a worthless being like you and I have no concerns whether you do live to see the next sunrise or die in this twilight! "

The Princess spat and stepped inside the forest, only to turn around and speak again.

"But if I see you crawling back behind me, the tip of my blade this time shall pull out your beating heart... remember that!"

And it was the last thing said before the Princess disappeared inside the forest, leaving him behind.

Did he seriously think that he could befriend a vampire? And a one from the palace? The Princess at that?

A very foolish call it was...that was what it was...as he concluded.

It was the howlings of the foxes or the wolves that were not clear, but they took over the silence of the night.

He was sleeping on one of the trees, perched up on its branch before hearing that commotion.

Some horses neighing, their galloping noises approaching, and a huge roaring resonated across the valley.

"I see something up there!"

And that was enough to make him wake up, climb down the tree, be scared for his life, and run forward, unconsciously or consciously entering inside the forest in stiff darkness.
