How? How is this possible?
I recall, while unclear, I was sure of it. I knew that I had gone somewhere. Somewhere through my closet doors, and yet, here I am in my bed, perfectly fine!
"It must have been a dream again." I muttered, and although I was sure that this was not the case, it could be the only possible explanation.
After all, a whole other world in my closet? Please. I mean, as much as I like hiding in the closet, that doesn't mean that I imagine an entirely different dimension while in there. It's no Narnia that's for sure.
But, I have to admit, if it was a dream, then that was clearly my most realistic one. I mean, the night breeze that bristled against my skin, the way my clothes clung to my skin as I dived in. Leaving me soaked.
Those sensations could not be faked. But, then, how did I end up in my room? What was that then? Was I really that sleep deprived to have completely experienced some phantom sensations?
No, that's impossible. I've been up until 1:00 in the morning multiple times and this has never happened to me before.
Then what did really happen?
As I was completely stressing over the events at midnight, I heard my phone chime clearly with my favorite song. Someone was calling.
I look down to the side on my bed, my phone lit up to its full brightness. I frowned seeing this. But it wasn't that strange.
Picking it up, I swiftly recognized who was calling me at 7:47 in the morning. It was my dad.
I accepted the call and placed the phone down, switching to speaker mode. "Hey dad, how was the plane ride? You there yet?" I asked him, plainly expressing my unmotivated self.
"Well Russell, first of all; we haven't even gone there yet." I wanted to say something, but I managed to keep my questions to myself and let dad finish first.
"It seems that we'll be gone away from home longer, an extension of an entire two days in fact." Hearing his unnerved response, my ears perked up, I was about to ask why, but he beat me to it.
"It seems like your mother got the short end of the stick while we were drinking last night. Must've been something in the water, 'cause she's pretty sick right now. She's very feverish too. Anyways, I just sent a thousand dollars for you guys to use for food. Remember to use it well okay? I'm not sure how long we'll be away for actually." My father, having casually said all of that suddenly hung up on me while I was about to ask a question.
The only thing I found to be a waste was the fact he spent a thousand dollars on us, even though some of my siblings don't even deserve it.
But, it's my father's wealth to use, so I can't really say much regarding how he uses it. I just wish he was a little more careful. Pouting, I then rewinded his words in my mind, feeling puzzled about something.
One of his words struck me in particular, and I wasn't sure why. It was strange. What was it exactly?
'Something... Water....'
All of a sudden, my body jolted to stand in an abrupt manner. I just had an absolutely stunning realization.
"Water!" I shouted out, giggling maniacally. I wasn't sure why but all of a sudden my mind was completely filled with the thoughts of water.
Still giggling, I dashed outside of my bedroom and slid into the kitchen. Humming a song while I was at it.
I took out a glass and poured myself some water from the tap. Smiling, I walked back to my room. Although I was smiling like a psychopath right now, I was no doubt utterly excited.
And I wasn't even sure of the reason. It just felt natural for me. Feeling the excitement bubble inside of me, I finally sung my heart out loud.
"Ah ah ah ah. There's something in the water, something in the water. Ah ah ah ah. There's something in the water, that makes me love like I-" As I was about to finish, my nose started to itch midway and I inevitably sneezed.
"-Dchu!"
Due to my sneeze, I had unwittingly let go of my cup. In the heat of the moment, all I wanted was for it to not spill on the floor since it was hard to clean up.
"NO!" Shouting aloud, I outstretched my hand for the cup, fingers slightly curled. That's when it happened.
A singular word immediately flashed in my head. Dry. All of a sudden, the moment I thought of it, the water about to spill out on the floor suddenly evaporated into steam.
Awkwardly leaving me to witness the glass cup falling on the carpet with a soft thump.
My mind was completely blank at that point. For a few seconds I had to try and process what had just happened.
I rewinded the scene in my mind several times, and yet nothing could explain it. All I knew now was to test out if I could do the same thing again.
As such, I returned outside my room to gather more water. Three glass cups full in fact. On the way, one of my brothers had seen me carry it up the stairs, but I honestly did not care nor did he. It was just a quick glance at each other and a scoff, and that was it.
I did not reciprocate like always, since I had bigger problems to figure out.
"Now, let's see what's up with my body..."
....
Over the course of twenty minutes I have experienced an utter upheaval of everything I previously understood about this world.
And my conclusion was that, supernatural powers existed. Why I knew that? Because I apparently had them.
How? Probably because of that mysterious pool I swam in that came out of nowhere.
No matter what though, these powers of mine were incredible. From my investigation it seems that my abilities only extend out to water; all forms of water.
Ice, steam, mist and the like. Creating ice, steam and the like was possible. Drawing out water from the air was something I had thought up of, and it worked.
I could also apparently manipulate any kinds of liquid such as soda and alcohol, but I didn't experiment with them much.
So I moved on learning what I could do with ice, by recalling and replicating certain characters with ice powers, I somehow managed to shape the ice however I wanted and altered the temperature of the water to go from boiling to frozen. The changes in temperature caused the glass cup the water was held in to shatter.
I felt a little guilty and wanted to fix it, and then I recalled the fact that I heard glass being considered a material that was in a state between solid and liquid. It lacked the proper rigid structure of a solid, but was too slow moving to be a liquid. So it was an amorphous solid.
But, I had also heard it being defined as an extremely viscous liquid, so I tried it out with glass... And it worked, somehow.
It was extremely strange, seeing a clear viscous liquid floating and then being shaped into a more refined shape. In this case being a cup with a thick bottom and indented lines.
During all this I figured out that using hand gestures helped refine and allowed me to keep focus on what I wanted to do specifically.
For example, a push and pull motion from my hands allowed me to control the direction and shape of water. A flat outstretched palm allowed me to freeze it. Depending on how much I close my fist, I can control the temperature of the water.
The harder I strained my hands with those gestures, the more potent my power becomes.
How do I know this for sure? Well silly me had pulled back my hand hard enough for the water in my cups to rush towards me like a magnet, I was about to freeze it, but I was too slow.
The next thing I knew was that I was wet and soaked, and felt really strange. Like my throat was parched. Ironically, my throat was feeling dry, even though I was wet.
As I was about to stand up, I realized I couldn't. It felt like something was weighing down on me. Right on my legs. Out of surprise I audibly grunted, bending my body to look down on my legs.
A blue light flashed over my body and saw something that was frankly quite impossible...
