Albert regarded him for a moment more, then walked over to the chair he had only recently vacated, sitting in it casually. He leaned back, his dark eyes shadowed as his partner followed suit.
"A mystery caller from the County," he pondered. "Who do you think it is? Maybe an enemy?"
"Or an old flame?"
Albert raised an incredulous eyebrow. "What old flame?"
Matthew's expression turned pensive. "I need to tell you something."
A curious sensation washed over Albert. "Go on."
"I think it's...Maryann."
Albert froze.
The name had struck a nerve. His gaze narrowed on his partner. Anger came upon him suddenly but rigid self-control sliced down over his seething emotions.
His jaw tightened. "How can you tell?"
"She's been badgering my Ex. Trying to find out where you are and if you're with someone else now."
