Chapter 7 - Dancing the night away

Winter ignored Fifi who was following her. Right now she wasn't in the right mind to deal with her. Her mom once told her that there is no such thing as close friends and it's better to learn to live on her own.

"Winter wait." Fifi called her.

Winter stopped walking and turned around facing her."Whatever you want to say, make it quick." She told her.

"Why are you ignoring me all day? What happened?" Fifi asked.

Winter shook her head hopelessly. Not surprised by her friend's behavior. It wasn't the first time she counted on her and she failed her."Are we going to have this conversation? No need to keep on acting." Winter said as she leaned against the wall.

"I don't understand what I do?" Fifi continued denying.

"Forgot it. This talk is going nowhere. Don't ever call me again. Our friendship has ended. I'm better off by myself." Winter said, pushing her body off the wall.

It wasn't like Fifi was her childhood friend. But she was the only friend she had. Winter hated people who didn't return the favor and Fifi was one of them. She helped her to keep her job. But how did she return the favor? By doing absolutely nothing.

"I hate people like her." Winter muttered under her breath.

Fif stood there shocked. This wasn't the Winter she knew. She had changed. Before she was easy to manipulate. Or maybe she didn't know her too well?

Either way. She will come back to her eventually. Because that's what always happens.

_____

At 10 pm. Inside Xxx club.

It was Saturday night. So Winter decided to hit one of the city clubs and drink and dance the night away. It was better than spending the night alone. She will party all night and sleep through the day. This way. The weekend will pass by quickly and Edith won't be able to nag on her to come and spend the night at her place.

Winter is aware that Edith loves and treats her as if she was her daughter. That's why she can never let her find out what she had become. A cocaine addict. Just like her mother.

In the middle of loud music. The crowded people. Winter was in the middle of these strangers. Dancing and drinking at the same time. She was in her little world of fictional happiness that the mixture of alcohol and cocaine created for and that's what she needed to get through the night.

Tonight she was at a new club she had never visited before. She liked the place. Because no one here knows her. So it's easier to pretend things that she's not.

Winter was having fun dancing alone when she felt someone's hand on her waist. Turning around. She pushed the stranger's hands off her. She looked up at the stranger's face and asked for God's mercy. She can't deny how handsome this stranger was and for some odd reason. He seemed familiar.

"Are you alone?" The stranger whispered in her ear. He had a pleasant voice.

Winter nodded her head. For some reason. She wanted to be in this strange company. "Aren't we all alone here." She replied. Whispering in his ear.

She looked at the stranger's face and saw him smiling.

"I'm Alex." He introduced himself.

He has good manners. Winter thought to herself.

"Winter." She introduced herself too.

Tonight. She decided to let herself act without thinking. Not caring for what might happen next.
