The next day. Noontime.
Opening her eyes. Winter groaned in pain. Her head was throbbing like a hall. Holding her head with one hand. She sat up on the bed looking around her. Realizing that she was in an unfamiliar room.
"Where am I?" She whispered to herself trying to remember what happened last night.
Kicking off the covers off her. She placed her feet on the floor. She saw a cup of water and a tablet of painkillers medicine. Reaching for it. She took pills and gulped down the whole cup of water. Reaching for her purse. She opened it and started to take out things from it for her morning fix.
Hearing a knock on the door. Winter gathered her things, putting them back inside her purse. Cleaning her throat. She stood up walking towards the door. She opened to find a strange person with a tray in his hands standing on the doorstep of the unfamiliar door place that she was in.
"I take it that you don't remember anything." Alex walked past her, placed the tray on the table, and turned to look at her.
Reaching to scrub her hair. Winter shook her head no."You do seem familiar though." Winter said, staring at him trying to figure out who he is. Suddenly she remembered him."Oh my God. You're Alex. Edith son. I can't believe it." She said walking towards him.
Alex chuckled at her reaction. "You Finally remembered." He said.
"I do have one question before we dive into the memories and the fact of how handsome you're. Did we… You know what I mean?" Winter asked.
"If you haven't noticed. You still have your clothes on." Alex pointed at her clothes.
Sighing in relief. Winter walked towards the bed sitting on it. "I'm sorry if I did anything last night. I was drunk and I wasn't myself." She apologized, smiling at him.
"Nothing happened to be honest. We just danced and talked." He said as he sat beside her."You seemed sad and wanted someone to hear you." He added.
"Sometimes we just need people to hear us without judging." Winter said as she reached for her hair, smoothing it with her hands.``Now. Enough about me. Talking about how you grow up and become a handsome man. I bet that you have a girlfriend now. Hmm?" She asked. curious to know about him.
Alex looked away trying to hide his face. "And you are still as bold as you were in the past." He said, rubbing his neck.
Winter laughed as she reached for the hot coffee cup that she smelled for minutes now. Taking a sip from it. She hummed at the delicious taste of the coffee."And you are still making the most delicious coffee." Winter said and took another sip. Looking at his ring finger. She smiled. She hadn't noticed until now.
"So. Who is she?" Winter asked, pointing at the ring in his finger.
"Well. I almost cheated on her last night." Alex replied. Remembering the way she was dancing in the club last night."Thankfully. I wasn't that drunk." He added staring at Winter.
Picking the empty coffee cup back in the tray and standing up."That proves that you're a good man. Alex. Congratulations on your engagement." Winter said, reaching for her purse.
"Are you leaving? Finish your food first." Alex said. He didn't want her to leave now.
"The coffee was more than enough for me." Winter said as she put her shoes on."Thank you for letting me stay here. I appreciate it." She added walking out of the room towards the door.
Putting her hand on the doorknob Winter turned to look at him and said."One last thing. Stop hoping for us to be together. To me. You're the brother that I never had."
Unlocking the door. Winter left the apartment. it's better to not give false hopes. Falls hope only ruin people's lives.
